Hey Andrew. Can I Use Veneers To Fix A Pretty Severe Cross-Bite? Or Would It Best To Move Forward With Braces And Surgery?

Q.
Hey Andrew. I’m a 26 year old male and I have a pretty severe cross-bite. I really don’t want to get braces, orthodontic treatment or surgery to correct it. Is it possible to have veneers correct this problem? Or would it be best to move forward with braces and surgery?

I spoke with an orthodontist and he told me I would have to wear braces for 1 year, have corrective surgery and keep the braces for another year. I just want to know if that is my only option. Thanks so much for your help!

Hello and thank you for writing in. Veneers might work for a mild cross bit but building the veneers out a lot tends to cause them to de-bond. You might get away with a combination approach using a quick brace such as 6 month smiles and veneers to finish the job off. This is difficult to say without seeing you in person however. Perhaps seek a second opinion from an experienced dentist in person. I hope this helps. Kind regards, Dr Andrew Moore.
