Hello Doctor, I Want To Know If Any Remaining Decay Can Cause Health Problems In Later Life.

Q.
Hello Doctor, I have a bit of a weird one for you. Basically when I was very young, I didn’t clean my teeth properly and this led to decay in my mouth. I had a few teeth taken out as a child when suffering from severe toothache. Into my teenage years I began cleaning properly and everything, still had to have a few fillings and I think we were on the way to making my teeth strong enough for braces. The top row is quite crooked and one of my front teeth overlaps another. Recently I have had no toothache but am worried about the state of my mouth and want to get it fixed. What problems might I have in later life if there is still some sort of remaining decay that I don’t know about? Are there any serious health risks? I look forward to reading your response. Cheers.

Hi, I would say you need to find a good dentist and have a detailed consultation to assess all your teeth and health of gums and bone only then can you really know the condition of your mouth and what is needed to maintain your oral health. I hope this helps.
