Have had lots of fillings and teeth straightening but still not happy would you recommend Lumineers ?

Q. I have had alot of fillings over the years in my molars and I hate the way they look. I also had lower braces when I was younger which straightened my lower teeth but I am still unhappy with my upper teeth, they arent really crooked but I am unhappy with them. What would you recomend? My friend is a dentist and has mentioned lumineers? How much do they cost on average? M.N.

A. Lots of questions and I’ll try to cover them all.

Ugly fillings – these can be replaced with aesthetic fillings. Two types of materials are used – porcelain and composites ( Plastic ).
When a filling is small I would recommend a simple composite filling. For larger fillings I would recommend porcelain restorations for their added strength and longevity.

If your upper teeth are in a reasonable position veneers are a good option to give you a beautiful smile. In my view lumineers( no preparation veneers) are useful in only some situations whereas standard veneers requiring some tooth shaping are usually required the majority of the time.

Costs vary greatly but to give you a guide they can range from £600 to £3000 each . Talk to your friend to see what their fee is.
