Gum infection problems even after brushing

Q. Hi there…im a 23 year old,and have many propblems with my teeth,ive been 2 the dentists many of times,and the visits have resulted in me having gum infections everytime,i brush my teeth 2-3 times a day,and im always using special mouthwashs and they just dont seem to be getting any better,they look like there on there way out,im now starting to loss confindence in myself,i fill like i cant talk to people etc im on benefits and wondered if i could get help in anyway with getting them sorted..via the nhs??? many thanks…

A. Many thanks for your e-mail, usually when a patient is having continual problems with gum infections their dentist will recommend that they see a dental hygienist. In the beginning the visits may be quite regular, and on improvement of the condition the hygienist may recommend regular visits although with slightly less frequency. You can find your local NHS dentist by visiting NHS Direct or by contacting your local Primary Care Trust. I recommend that you visit a dental professional at your earliest convenience. Many Thanks.
