Do I Qualify For NHS Cosmetic Dental Treatment With A HC3 Certificate?

Q.
Dear Dr Gambroudes, I have a question:
I am an NHS patient with a HC3 certificate, and I have a problem with my teeth. I did my teeth in another country and they were done very bad. I have 6 missing teeth in front upper jaw and all my back teeth are broken.
The crown fixed in front was made from plastic and now is broken from more than 3 years, and I struggle every time to fix it with glue.
My question is: Do I qualify for NHS cosmetic help? I don’t want to wear a denture because of my age. Thank you and kind  regards.
A.
Hello and thank you for your question. Your HC3 certificate does indeed cover you NHS dental treatment, however the NHS will not routinely cover dental implants to replace missing teeth. Also it would appear from your enquiry that you have a number of other dental issues going on that would need treating before you could consider a complex treatment like dental implants. I would strongly suggest that you find a local dentist offering NHS treatment and get the appropriate treatment for your broken back teeth and possibly a new upper denture to replace your missing upper front teeth. Once your mouth is stable you could then look at all your options to replace these missing teeth. I really hope this is helpful. Kind regards, Marcus Gambroudes.
