Dentist suggests denture but can I have a bridge fitted?

Q. Im due shortly to have 4 front teeth (lower jaw) removed ,the dentist advised me to have a denture the cost 198.00 . is it possible to have a bridge fitted as i would feel more comfortable with them fixed would this be the best option for me i need some advice .

A. Fixed teeth are often more comfortable. I would talk to your dentist as this treatment is often unavailable on the NHS. You could should also wait for the gums to heal after the teeth have been removed before considering a bridge.

I am currently seeing my national health dentist who has advised me that it is impossible to put in a crown or bridge where a nerve/tooth has to be removed. He has been fitting me with a small plastic plate with one tooth on it. This is for a side tooth but the plate fits right across the front of my mouth and is secured in with metal clips either side to my existing teeth. Is this the only sort available as am i not only worred about the metal wear and tear on my other teeth but find it impossible to wear.

Would really appreciate a quick reply as due to visit the dentist today. a friend suggested that i email my query.

Many thanks

A very worred patient.
