I would first like to say thanks for taking the time to answer my question, but feel I should warn you that I am not seeking advice as a patient, but as a ‘wannabe-dentist.’ I am only 15 years old, but have been interested in the world of cosmetic dentistry for a while now. I was wondering what sort of other websites/magazines/books would expand my knowledge? Also, could you recommend any practices for work experience? I would be grateful for any advice you could give in starting out.

Thank you for your enquiry. The first step is to see if your dentist would be happy for you to do a work experience placement perhaps during the holidays to build up your knowledge of dentistry. He could then recommend other practices for you to contact to see other dentists at work. If your dentist is unwilling to be co-operative, use the various directories to find and contact clinics within your area. This website is particularly useful in providing information on the differing treatments you’ll find in cosmetic dentistry. Good Luck, Andrew.
