Q. Could you please tell me if having a small infection after 3 implants were placed 5 weeks ago means that the implants need to be replaced. I was given an antibiotic right now. The swelling was preent all these weeks after the big swelling went down. Can anibiotics work on an infection around the implants. Thank you very much!
A. Strong antibiotics can sometimes remove the infection, however it sounds like your implants are failing. Your dentist will review then and test them for integration ( fusing to your bone). Sometimes new bone can be grafted around your implants and this can save them.
