Can I Reduce The Size Of My Front Teeth By Clipping Them Down Or By Some Other Means?

Thursday, August 7th, 2014
Q.

Hi Dr Patel. My question is: Can we reduce the size of the front teeth by clipping them down or some other means? My age is 23 years. At this age is there any possibility of reduction in size of teeth? What are the chances of reduction of big front teeth at this age? What is the criteria and deciding factors for reducing the front teeth size? Are there any long term effects of this treatment? I would really like to reduce the size of my front teeth and I would like your advice. Thank you for your time.

My Teeth Are Misaligned And Caused Me Pain In My Back And Neck. Why Is This?

Tuesday, July 22nd, 2014
Q.

Doc, I have a big problem my front teeth
2 teeth. They have been missing for many years and just a year ago I started to use braces to fix my problem but it really causes me problems with pain on the right side face, which is unaligned to the left. Perhaps this is because my right teeth have shifted to the left and that there is not enough room. I feel my back and neck is aching and my body seems not aligned as well as it was. Has this got anything to do with the misalignment of my teeth? I lose my balance sometimes when I walk because my right knee aches. Please help me so that I would know what to do. Thank you.

How Much Will My Partial Denture Affect The Look Of My Face?

Friday, February 7th, 2014
Q.

Hi Mark, I’d like your advice. I’m having 4 top teeth removed for partial denture. They stick out to a V shape at the front. Now there isn’t much space so the front teeth will be made narrower to fit the gap, will this look normal? My top lip is full, so will bringing the teeth back straight make my lip really thin?
My chin sticks out a bit an I’d like to know if this will this make it stick out more? I am desperate to alter my sticky out teeth and have a better smile. At the moment the 4 front teeth stick out so much they rest on my bottom lip. Thanks.

I’ve Been Considering Veneers For Ages Now. Would They Help Fix My Bucked Teeth?

Thursday, December 12th, 2013
Q.

Hello Dr Moore. I’m 19 years old and I have been considering veneers for ages now. My teeth are straight but a bit bucked, they have small gaps but have stopped growing. When I bite I can rub the bottom of my teeth with my jaw clenched as my top half has moulding round my thumb as I used to suck my thumb when I was little. I also have fangs on both the bottom and the top and I hate them. I just never smile. I just wanted to know what would the price be for 12 teeth as I would rather this than braces.

Thanks.

My Teeth Have Straightened Up But Now They’re Causing Me Discomfort. Am I Eligible For Treatment On The NHS?

Wednesday, August 28th, 2013
Q.

When I was about 13 several of my bottom teeth began to cross over and I was refused braces by the orthodontist, my tooth then cut my bottom lip and was causing me discomfort so I was referred to a dental hospital where I was refused braces again. I left my teeth and my bottom one’s because they no longer bother me as they can’t be seen when I smile. I used to have a big gap between my top front teeth but last year they all straightened up and my gap closed up, but I worried they would overlap but my dentist said they wouldn’t. I’m 17 now and recently my second to front tooth has gone crooked and slipped behind my front tooth and is aching and causing me discomfort and making me self-concious, I feel it will push my front tooth forward, also my teeth don’t close together properly, am I still eligible for a brace or even a retainer on the NHS?

I’m Seventeen And Wore Braces But My Teeth Have Gone back To Their Original Place.

Monday, August 19th, 2013
Q.

I’m a 17 year old girl who has previously wore braces but unfortunately my two front teeth went back to their horrible place and ever since I’ve started having difficulties even smiling so whenever I go into public places I cover my mouth with shame and embarrassment. I worry that I’ll always have this problem and I’d just like to know if there is any hope for me. I just want to fix my two front teeth and wonder how much it will be as I can’t afford to get braces again. Can cosmetic dentistry help me put my front teeth back even a small amount so I can close my mouth without struggling?

I Used To Have Braces And My Teeth Need Straightening Again, What Can I Do?

Friday, August 2nd, 2013
Q.

Hello Dr Kalpesh Bohara I was wondering if you could help me with an issue I have had for some time, I had fixed braces put in when I 13 years old I am know 23 I got these from an NHS surgery, I wore a retainer for a year then, a fixed brace for a year. My first four top teeth have returned to the way they were before I had the fixed brace. This frustrated me no end as I now feel like all of the treatment before was a complete waste of time. My confidence has gone right down, what would be the best thing for me to do? I’m on exception at the moment due to having a baby so wouldn’t be able to afford the huge costs. Any assistance that you could provide would be helpful. Thank you.

My Teeth Have Moved Back, Can You Recommend A Six Month Smile Practice?

Tuesday, June 4th, 2013
Q.

Hello,

I had full braces to the top and bottom of my teeth when I was about 13, however, I still did not like the shape of my teeth and so being a silly teenager I did not wear the retainer. My teeth (mainly the top 4 largest teeth) moved back crooked quickly and I’ve lived with ugly teeth for years. I’m now 30 years old and I am still very paranoid about smiling. Other than cosmetically, I have relatively good teeth, no fillings and quite white. I have suffered with gum disease in the past, partly to do with medication I was on and partly as I just hate my teeth so didn’t look after them enough and as there over crowded it built up but they are ok now.

I have read about the ‘6 month smile’ and would love to have it if possible.
Can you recommend anywhere in Birmingham that offers this? And do you know how much it would roughly cost to straighten my front top 4 teeth?

Many Thanks.

Why Are My Teeth Coming Forward?

Tuesday, January 15th, 2013
Q.

Dear Dr. Moore,Greetings of the day!!Dr. I have had crooked teeth and so presently m undergoing ortho treatment since last 1 month. My age is 27 years. I have got self ligating brackets with IPR and no extraction. But now i feel my upper teeth are coming forward. I am kind of worried that this is not part of the process of aligning and that something is going wrong?? I know you must be thinking why I am not consulting my orthodontist doctor.. And that’s true. And I will be doing but still, for my own satisfaction I want to know. Hope you will help me and can give me some answers!! Thanking you in anticipation. I look forward to reading your response. Thank you very much

Do I Need Braces?

Tuesday, January 15th, 2013
Q.

I’m wondering if I need braces. I’ve had confidence issues with my teeth for a while now (as I also have a gap tooth which I wouldn’t mind closed up a little bit more but overall I’m okay with that now) and I feel like now would be the time to get braces, if I need them. I went for a consultation with an orthodontist and he said that I did not need braces as my teeth have a good bite, but my front teeth really do stick out. They aren’t crooked or anything but they protrude at about a 30 degrees angle, instead of growing straight down. Do you think I need braces? The orthodontist I went to said that if I were to get braces to fix this problem, I wouldn’t get the procedure on the NHS. Is this true? Would retainers help my situation at all (I like the idea of something you can take off, I’m not keen on wearing braces for 2+ years buy I’ll do it if necessary)? And if braces aren’t the answer what can I do to stop them protruding so much?
