My new permanent crown is loose, what should I do?

Thursday, June 9th, 2011
Q.

Hello Doctor, A front tooth broke recently and left just about an eight of the original tooth in my gum. This tooth had already had root canal work and I was so pleased to be told that a crown could be fitted. posts were screwed into the stub of the tooth and a tempory crown fitted. Today I went to have this removed and a permanent crown fitted. The dentist had a terrible job getting the tempory crown off and whereas this was very firmly fixed my permanent crown is moving. If the posts were dislodged whist removing the tempory crown can the one fitted now be removed and the posts secured.Thank you in advance

My tooth still hurts after an accident, is my best option root canal treatment?

Monday, June 6th, 2011
Q.

Hello Mark, how long can it take for a damaged tooth ligament to settle. My front tooth does not seem to be recovering since the impact , which is almost four weeks ago. I still can’t bite down on it. Do you think Root Canal Treatment is my better option? X Rays show no sign of damage to the roots.
Could the pulp still be damaged? The tooth mostly hurts when I bite on it but does throb on and off through the day. thank you for your time

How long after root canal treatment are you fitted with a crown?

Monday, June 6th, 2011
Q.

Hi Doctor,
I was assessed by my dentist and
I have to undergo root canal treatment on one of my lower tooth. My dentist has told me the procedure and that the crown is put on within a few weeks after treatment but I went to get a second opinion at a private dentist and he told me the permenant crown is put on 6 months to a year after the initial treatment so that they can check if procedure has gone well and no bacteria is infected the area. What would be usual way to do root canal?

Thank You

How many times can you have veneers replaced?

Tuesday, May 31st, 2011
Q.

Hi there doctor ,

I got veneers for my 2 front teeth about a year ago but I’m not too happy about the colour. I’d like to whiten my teeth and replace my veneers to match the new colour of my teeth. Is it possible to replace my veneers? Is there a limit to replacing them? Also, my veneers feel a little shaky sometimes. If they do break off, do I have any other options? I’ve read that veneers can only be replaced twice in a life time at most. Any truth to that?

Thank you for your time

Is it less painful to have a wisdom tooth extracted or root canal treatment?

Tuesday, May 31st, 2011
Q.

Hi doctor,

My wisdom tooth has got infected. It’s on my upper left jaw. I visited a dentist today and she advised me tooth extraction to be performed in a week’s time. She also prescribed me Ammoxicillin (500mg) to be taken 3 times a day for one week. I am not sure if I should go for a root canal treatment or a tooth extraction. My exams are approaching so I want to go for a treatment which takes less time and gets me back on work asap. I would also like to know which one is a less painful procedure. I am 29, female. Please help.

Thanks,

New dentists tells me I have had root canal treatment in the past. I didn’t know this. Is he correct?

Tuesday, May 3rd, 2011
Q.

Hello Dr Rob Tennet. I have a question for you so I sincerely hope you have time to answer it for me. I have recently joined a new practice and they have told me i have had root treatment to 2 teeth, I am not aware of this and I’m sure I would have know.
Both the teeth in question have had there fillings redone, 1 because I asked for it to be redone as the filling was turning brown, and the other I can’t remember why as it was a long time ago. Will he be correct in saying that i have had root treatment carried out, if I hadn’t been informed. everytime I have had fillings they have all been the same nothing different has been done. He has taken x-rays.

Is it normal to have itching and numbness after a root canal?

Wednesday, April 20th, 2011
Q.

I had a temporary crown put on until my root canal is done. had my root canal done 1 month ago. All was good for 2 days then from the back molar which was the tooth work on to the center of my chin went numb, I went through 2 rounds of antibotics, I am still numb and my chin has intensed itching, I was told that SOMETIMES THE NUMBNESS HAPPEN BUT IT DOESN’T NORMALLY ITCH.And I don’t need my crown put on until this goes away which may take months. Am I that unnormal?

I’ve had root canal treatment and my teeth are discoloured, can you offer advice to rescue my teeth?

Wednesday, April 13th, 2011
Q.

Hi, I don’t really know where to start, but i’m extremely down about my teeth :( i’m 19 and just don’t know what to do, I feel the problems with them may be too big to sort. When I was younger I had to have root canal treatment on a front tooth, this left it very grey, I have since had a crown but they still don’t look right. Also, my bottom teeth became very rotten so i’ve had lots of work done on them, but they look awful as the white fillings I had are becoming discoloured. My teeth are far from straight, they all seem to be different colours. I just don’t understand it because i’ve always looked after them, but my dad had a lot of problems with his teeth & so has my mum. This is beginning to rule my life, I think about how hideous my teeth look 24/7. I saved up £400 to have this crown done which looks awful. I just don’t know where to turn, but at the age of 19 i’m not willing to live the rest of my life like this. So if you have an advice i’d be extremely grateful, i’m willing to save up any amount of money, no matter how long it takes. I also have pictures but not sure how to attach them on here. Thank you in advance.
