My dentist has suggested root canal treatment and a crown for my twisted tooth, is this correct?

Tuesday, August 30th, 2011
Q.

i have a good tooth in my front upper jaw (central incisor 1) but its twisted and is overlapping upon its next one (another central incisor. Now thats making my smile look bad. I have seen a dentist and he, after examining x-rays, told theres no space between my teeth and brace are not an option for me. then he suggested me a solution that is he will grind the tooth and root canal and then put on a crown.

is it ok?? is what the doctor saying right? after coming back home i got a question that is why do i need a root canal? Cant i simply grind and wear the crown?

is this the right solution that he suggested.. is there any new technology in the developed world?

How can I correct my overlapping teeth?

Wednesday, July 13th, 2011
Q.

Dear Dr Hughes,

I have noticed that my right hand front tooth is starting to slightly overlap the other tooth and I am wondering what my options are to correct this. Obviously I am not keen on a permanent brace which would be installed for a year or more, I notice the 6 month option on this website.

For your information, as a child I had several teeth removed due to overcrowding, I believe 6-8 teeth were removed, this involved a hospital over night stay and general anaesthetic.

I presume I am best to address this as soon as possible before it becomes a more significant overlap.

Any advice you can offer would be appreciated.
