What Kind Of Qualifications Should I Look For In A Dentist Who Can Provide Dental Implants?

Thursday, September 19th, 2013
Q.

Hello Dr Moore, I would like to know how does one choose a dentist for dental implants? What qualifications should he or she have and what should one expect to pay for this type of treatment within the UK. I have all my own teeth but one at the back has just been removed due to canal root treatment five years ago and it has not solved the problem. I am not sure whether to go abroad for the treatment as I do often travel in Europe for my work but I’m not sure about this option as I do not know what kind of qualifications European dentists should have, and what kind of cost I’ll be looking at? Thank you, I hope you can help.

How Long Does It Take To Recover From All-In-Six Implants And Is It Painful?

Tuesday, September 17th, 2013
Q.

I went for a consultation for all-on-six implants for the removal and replacement for my upper jaw and after the 3-d scan was told I was a good candidate for the treatment. Can you tell me how severe the pain is for the few days after the treatment as I have been told different answers by the two surgeries I have had consultations from? The first dentist said I would be able to go back to work after a day off following the surgery and the second dentist said I would need to have a week off work. I am a bit confused by this, Thanks.

Thursday, September 12th, 2013
Q.

Hello. Basically I’d like to state that my teeth are terrible and it makes me cringe just looking at them. I would say there are only eight good teeth and one of them is a wisdom tooth, it is getting to the point now where I’m struggling to eat proper meals and being diabetic and only twenty-one years old makes it so embarrassing, the fact that I’m even contemplating a dentist makes me want to cry.  I really don’t know what to do any more and it’s even affecting my work life, please any advice would be so useful,
thank you for taking the time to read this.

Hello, I Need To Know The Cost Of A Full Dental Implant Procedure For My Wife?

Monday, September 9th, 2013
Q.

Hello, Dr Safeer. The Problem I need to discuss is that I was looking for a price for my wife as she has been told she needs full mouth dental implants as all of her teeth are either broken or missing and this is really affecting the way she feels and this has led her to depression and she is still suffering with it and all this isn’t helping with the situation. I would just like my wife to be confident within herself. What would you say was the average price for this type of procedure within your profession? Thank you for your help and taking the time to read this and get back to me. It would do me a great favour.

My Dentist Has Said She Can’t Find My Root Canals And May Have To Extract A Tooth, This Really Worries Me, What Should I Do?

Wednesday, September 4th, 2013
Q.

Hi, Hello. I saw my dentist yesterday because I have an abscess on a front tooth and she gave me antibiotics and I was supposed to go back to have root canal treatment but when she looked on my X-ray she said she may not be able to do it as she couldn’t find the root canals and she may have to extract the tooth but I don’t want to lose my tooth, as this really worries me. What do you advise? If I have to lose the tooth what would be the best way to replace it? Is it really possible that she may not find the root canals or does she just want to extract so that I have to have further treatment? Any assistance would help.

I Have Had My Entire Set Of Teeth Fitted With Dental Implants But I’ve Noticed Some Are A Different Shade. Why?

Monday, September 2nd, 2013
Q.

Hello, After having had problems with my teeth for most of my life, I have just had extensive work and had my entire teeth fitted with dental implants. The next day after the final treatment I noticed that the back quarter of the implants are now a different colour to the other three quarter of the implants. Is this normal? Or is it that the implants are just a different shade to the other implants as they were put in, in separate stages. I heard that they could look darker because I have two old teeth underneath the bridge, but I cannot see this being the case, could you tell me if this is possible? Thank you, I hope you can deal with my request.

I Need To Know If I Can Have A Tooth Replacement Via A Crown Instead Of Having To Wear Dentures?

Monday, September 2nd, 2013
Q.

Hello Dr Patel, I need to tell you that I currently have a missing front tooth, and I am wondering if you know whether I can have a false one fitted via a crown, instead of having to wear dentures? I have stopped smoking as to help my dental hygiene and have lost most of my lower back teeth as well. My other related problems are that I get chronic indigestion and sore gums, and I have stained teeth due to a medicine I was given as a baby and had crowns fitted fifteen years ago to make me have white teeth. I keep on top of my oral health and brush my teeth twice a day and I also use cordisol mouthwash. I really hope you can guide me in these matters, kind regards and thank you.

I Contacted My Dental School For Dental Implants, But My Dentist Wouldn’t Refer Me. Why?

Friday, August 30th, 2013
Q.

Hello, I contacted my Dental school, to enquire about dental implants being done, I’m unemployed, and I don’t work due to health issues. I asked if they do dental implants, they said yes they would do it free, only if I asked my dentist to refer me, I did this, but have been turned down and I don’t know why? They said I don’t meet the criteria. Do you know if I was to try another dental school, whether they would do it? It’s very costly for me to have it done, at my dentist. I’m having problems with my plate, I keep getting ulcers, taking, my plate out and in, to clean, also I have cracked two of my teeth twice, taking it out. Any suggestions for implants? Also what are the costs involved to have this done?

My Boyfriend Wants Tuberopterygoid Implants, Can You Offer Me Information On This Type Of Treatment?

Tuesday, August 27th, 2013
Q.

My boyfriend is interested in having
Tuberopterygoid Implants at a clinic in India. Despite the skills of any dentist who carries out this work, my research suggest to me (I’m a law student) that these type of implants are as yet only in their ‘pilot study’ phase, without a proven track record. I am therefore trying to find high quality information on Tuberopterygoid Implants. Can you point me in the direction of any publications, or papers etc, with information akin to clinical trials of Tuberopterygoid Implants or the conclusions from them? Do you have any knowledge of any aspects of this type of implant, or do you know of any specialist or any organisation who oversees these particular implants who might be able to provide us with more information on benefits and risks? If there is no reliable evidence for us to assess risks, we will be looking for similar work with more traditional implants done in the UK if lack of gum area will support this. This may mean a wait of a few more years due to budget constraints, unless as my partner is a teacher and the very real psychological distress caused by lack of teeth (he only has 2 on the top) will qualify him for NHS funded implants – can you advise on the likelihood of this? If we opt to save for a traditional type implant from a UK clinic, can you also advise on the possibility of finding a tried and tested implant which is suitable for people with lack of gum space that would usually make them only suitable for the Tuberopterygoid Implants?

I Recovered A Tooth Playing Rugby. I’m Worried It Will Fall Out When I Eat, Do I Need Treatment?

Friday, August 23rd, 2013
Q.

Hi, I had my tooth knocked out playing a rugby match two years ago. I managed to save the tooth and they put it back in with a brace for six weeks. I haven’t suffered with any problems up until now however, as it has now come loose and it is making it hard for me to chew and eat my food. What are the possible treatment solutions open to me? I’m worried and scared that it may fall out at any moment, and it’s changed the way I sound when I talk. I am also worried about the possible costs that could occur due to my financial restrictions. So I’d like to know the costs? Can you help me with my enquiries? Thanks.
