As A Sufferer Of Periodontal Disease, Do You Know Of Anywhere That Can Provide Treatment At Low Cost?

Monday, October 7th, 2013
Q.

Hello Dr Moore, I have a question to put forward. Do you know if the NHS provides periodontal treatment?

My gums are receding because of this, and my teeth are no longer aligned. My teeth now protrude out of my mouth and I can hardly close them.

I have suffered some bone loss, and I am very desperate find somewhere that can fix my teeth at an affordable amount.

I have also made regular dental check-ups in recent times, but have never been referred to a specialist of any kind.

Where can I obtain treatment at low cost? I really hope you can provide an answer to ease my worries with this matter. Thank you.

I Have Chronic Periodontal Disease, Will All-On-Six Implants Stop The Disease In Future?

Friday, October 4th, 2013
Q.

I have chronic periodontal disease and bone loss, and wonder if I can I have the all-on-6 implants, will they last or will they fail because of my problems and is it true once teeth are removed, so will the gum disease be removed? What problems can arise with the implants, how often do you have them removed for cleaning? Can you still get abscess with implants as I do with my teeth now, and is it the type of implant that makes them suitable for people like myself? Everyone says that they are the solution, for gum disease and bone loss. I only hope you agree, many thanks.

My Gums Started Bleeding Recently, I Want To Know How Long It Takes Each Stage Of Gum Disease To Take Hold?

Wednesday, October 2nd, 2013
Q.

Hello, Dr Moore. About a month ago now, I noticed that my gums began bleeding after brushing. This kept happening for around a week or so. I visited my dentist and he gave me antibiotics. I will see him in four weeks from now.

I have also now started using the recommended mouthwash. My question is how long does it take to go from minor gingivitis to periodontal disease? Approx how long would it take to get to that stage if unchecked?

P.s if you are at periodontitis stage, can this alter your face?

What are the tell tell signs that distinguish each stage? Thank you in advance for your consideration.

I’m Pretty Sure I May Have Gingivitis, As Whenever I Brush My Gums Tend To Bleed, What Mouthwash Can I Buy To Fix This?

Friday, September 27th, 2013
Q.

Hi Dr Hughes, I’m worried because I’m pretty sure that I might have gingivitis. My gums are always slightly bleeding and I can NEVER brush my teeth without seeing “pink” in the sink and to make matters worse, what used to be a tiny gap has gotten bigger and one tooth seems to be growing outward. What is your advice on this? Who can seriously afford braces in this economy and is there any Drug store medicine besides mouthwash that would rid me of the bleeding gums once and for all? Please doctor, help me.

I Want To Know If Implants Are The Sensible Choice After Suffering From Gum Disease?

Tuesday, September 24th, 2013
Q.

Hi, Dr Moore. My problem is that I had quite aggressive gum disease recently but I’m now quite stable. The four front top and bottom teeth were badly affected.

I am wondering whether to extract these and get implants sooner rather than later? They would definitely look better but I don’t know if this is really the sensible choice – what should I consider?

I don’t know whether to seek cosmetic treatment first but think I would be happier with ” new teeth”. I am currently very good with oral hygiene and know I’d look after my implants if I got them fitted. Thank you.

I’ve Seen A Few Dentists Over My Gum Disease And Now Want To Find A Reliable Dentist For Treatment. What Would This Cost?

Friday, September 6th, 2013
Q.

Hello. I am 35 years old, I have hereditary gum disease and all my teeth are loose in my gums. I have seen a few NHS dentists, and seen a hygienist at what I feel was wasted cost. It makes me feel incredibly unhappy to think it’s not going to be long until I am toothless! How much am I looking at getting a complete set of implants upper and lower sets including consultations, x-rays, aftercare etc. Are there any payment plans available? Also could you recommend any good reliable dentists? Travelling is not a problem for me within the UK. Thank you.

My Gums Have Receded Due To Medium Level Gum Disease – What Treatment Should I Undertake?

Thursday, August 29th, 2013
Q.

Hello, Doctor. I need to tell you that I currently have medium level gum disease at the moment and my gums have receded quite a bit and I also have many gaps in my teeth with my front two teeth protruding quite a bit – what would be the best way for me to achieve a straight smile? Would the treatment be braces, veneers or dental implants? Is a straight smile even possible with implants, or will the replacement teeth look the same as the ones I currently have? Are veneers a bad option for receding gums? And what would be the best way to fix protruding front teeth/gum area? Thank you.

What Is Causing The Metallic Taste In My Mouth?

Monday, July 29th, 2013
Q.

Hi Dr Moore. I have a metal plate with five teeth placed on it but have recently started to have a metal taste in my mouth daily.  I have had my existing denture for about 30 years now and I would like to know –  is it safe to clean the denture by soaking in regular steradent cleaner?  I used to use denclen which worked really well but I cannot purchase this anymore, from anywhere. Could you please advise me on this problem? I often get mouth ulcers. I regularly go to the dentist and because of receding gums have at lease 2 yearly visits to the hygienist. Yet, there’s still problems and I’m not sure what I should do. The metal taste is bothering me and it’s affecting the way I taste food. I don’t enjoy it and I’m always worried. Please help!!
