Would Braces Work To Close My Gap And Eliminate My Overlap?

Thursday, July 11th, 2013
Q.

Would you close a gap due to extraction with an implant or braces. My front teeth slightly overlap, and as I have lost a tooth 6th from the front, I thought braces could pull the teeth back and close the gap, with bringing the 8th tooth forward slightly. I thought this could kill two birds with one stone, as I would lose the overlapping at the front, and also fill the gap. I spoke to my dentist and he won’t advise me on the best way, and I need a professional to tell me the best way forward please. The tooth was extracted quite a few years ago, so I would need a bone graft if I were to have an implant, My dentist has said that if I were to have braces, my centre line would be off, and he would either need to extract a tooth on the other side, or shave the front teeth. He also said he couldn’t be sure but he thinks I will get a black triangle between my front teeth once the overlapping is corrected. I really don’t know which is the best option. If I go with the implant, I will still have the crossed over teeth but the gap will be filled. If I go with the braces, both problems could be sorted, but there is much more interference with healthy teeth, ie getting teeth shaved and maybe another tooth extraction.

What would you think would be the best way forward?

The Gaps In My Lower Teeth Are Getting Me Down, What Would Help?

Thursday, May 30th, 2013
Q.

Hi there Dr Moore, I have a problem with my teeth that I really hope you’ll be able to help me with Basically, I have a gap in my lower bottom teeth and it does lower my confidence. I have been to my dentist but have been told there’s not much that can be done. As I want it completely closed I wanted to know how much the treatment would be and how much it would cost as I am on benefits at the moment. Most of my bottom teeth have spaces and gaps between them but it does not bother me as much as the gap between my the two lower front teeth. I am desperate to find an affordable cost to get it sorted. I really hope you are able to help.

Many thanks.

Would Bonding And Veneers Be My Best Options For Filling The Gaps?

Thursday, May 16th, 2013
Q.

I have a 2 mm gap between my front teeth and then less than 1 mm on either side of that, everything else is straight and normal. What would be the best treatment in this case? I don’t want to spend thousands of dollars on braces or Invisalign for something so small. I read something about bonding and veneers, but I’m not sure if those are real options. I’m not an expert though, I’m sure you’ve had more patients in my position. So if you could offer any advice then that would be truly appreciated. Hope to hear from you soon. Thank You!

Can my retainer bridge the gap?

Wednesday, March 20th, 2013
Q.

Hello there Dr, I had my braces taken off almost a year ago. I only wore removable retainers for a month and then discontinued using them. However after a year my front two teeth had started to have little gap between them. I therefore began to wear my retainers during the night and it fixed in. But when I take them off in the morning and try to eat it starts to shift again.

So my question is , how long should I wear my retainers to fill the gap? Is it possible to treat with the retainers long term or should I go back to my orthodontist for further treatment?

Thank you

I Have A Gap Tooth That Seemingly Cannot Be Fixed By Braces, What Can Be Done?

Thursday, March 14th, 2013
Q.

Hi
I have a gap in the middle of my teeth and fit a lolly pop stick in it so quite large
I have had braces and it came back in a week while they are sorting my retainer out. Like I don’t know why or how this happened but it is very frustrating and knocked me quite a bit. To have it actually seem as though it is fixed and then be back to square one within a week is kind of demoralising and I need to try and get some expert advice or help on how to get it properly and permanantly resolved. Whenever I am with friends and stuff it affects the times I have negatively, like  it gets me really down, and hate smileing
the skin in the middle or the gap and get quite sensitive and sore at times
what is the best soultion for this?
and kind of costs im looking at?
any advice you be greatly apprectated
Many Thanks

My Partial Dental Plate Has Caused Gaps Which I Would Like Fixed, Could I Get A Bridge?

Wednesday, March 13th, 2013
Q.

I have been wearing a partial dental plate for many years. This has badly affected my gums and I have lost teeth through it. The remaining teeth (all of the front ones) are however solid. But they have gaps between them now as they’ve moved and I wondered about getting a bridge to sort this out. Would this be possible given my previous problems? A dentist upset me a few years ago by telling me she didn’t think it was worth spending any money on my mouth as the x-rays showed too much bone damage. But I really want to have teeth without gaps as its bothering me now. I don’t smoke or drink.

My Front Teeth Have A Gap Between Them And My Incisors Are Missing, What Are My Options?

Tuesday, March 12th, 2013
Q.

Hi Dr,

I have a gap between my two front teeth and I’m missing my incisors either side of these teeth. I am really quite concerned as it is knocking my confidence a bit seeing as though it just makes my mouth look really really gappy. What would be the best solution without being to invasive? I’ve read through the different procedures and stuff so I know what they involve and I just think that it would be good to know which one I would need and the cost of this.
My teeth are really strong so I would want them to be removed but It would be nice to smile normally one day.

Thank you.

What are the costs and payment plans for Invisalign to correct overbite and a gap in my front teeth?

Friday, February 15th, 2013
Q.

I received orthodontic treatment as a kid to correct my overbite (in part due to thumb sucking) and a gap in my 2 front teeth. I have a fixed retainer on the back of my top 6 teeth which has not been maintained properly as gradually the gap has reappeared (in the front & at sides) and my teeth protrude (overbite is back) I’m interested in Invisalign to correct both of these issues, please can I have a guide as to cost & payment plans? Also, I show a lot of gum when I smile which is something I have always been conscious & hinders me naturally smiling, especially in photos. I would really like to have a procedure as part of my treatment to perfect my overall smile, is this possible at the Chelmsford surgery? Thanks in advance.
