Can My Two Front Teeth Be Filled To Remove The Gap?

Monday, April 15th, 2013
Q.

Hello sir, I have a gap of 4mm-5mm between my two upper front teeth. Can I fill that up using bonding? This is something that I have had since childhood and I am 17 now. It has caused a fair few issues for me. I don’t feel fully able to express myself and act as freely as I would like to. Basically, I just want to delete this ‘chapter of gap’ forever. Please help. My teeth are strong enough so I hope bonding could be an option for me. And I think that this gap has increased in comparison to the gap I used to have during childhood. I don’t have any other problem except this gap. The gap caught my attention when one of my friend told that it has increased a little from last 2 years.

My Fillings Have Stained My Tooth, What Can Be Done?

Monday, March 25th, 2013
Q.

Hi there,

I have two very large amalgam fillings in my first molar (?!) on ether side of my top row of teeth and they have stained what little remaining tooth I have left a horrible grey/black colour. When I first had them done I didn’t realise they were going to be so far forward and visible in my mouth (4th tooth along from centre on either side). Every time I smile and even speak they are visible and I absolutely hate them. They have ruined my confidence and I have seen my dentist about replacing them but he says they are too large and even more of the tooth would have to be removed. I guess he is right but after years and years I just want to be able to smile properly without covering my mouth!

What options are available to me please?

Thank you.

My Bridge is Affecting A Nearby Filled Tooth, What Can Be Done?

Friday, March 15th, 2013
Q.

hi there, i have recently been fitted with a maryland bridge just (3rd from the last tooth at the upper back). The tooth was missing for over 20 years so i have suffered from quite severe gum recession in this area. the tooth next to the bridge has a large filling and since the bridge, I have had nothing but pain, sensitivity and more pain. It is not even like I can pin an exact cause or anything either because the pain comes with pretty much everything in my day to day life. So like it will come with pressure, with any food or drink that is hot, cold, warm, anything that contains even a little bit of sugar, it’s everything. I’ve been back 6 times and the filling changed but this has made no difference. Should I ask for the bridge to be removed?

My Newly Filled Tooth Is Causing Me A Lot Of Pain, What Can I Do To Relieve It

Friday, January 25th, 2013
Q.

Dear whom it may concern,
I went to the dentist like a week ago and they said i need a filling. They drilled and put a dressing on and said if i am in pain i should come back but i haven’t been yet. I brushed on that tooth yesterday and its been hurting really bad. I only brush verwhere else not that part but when i did it seriously hurts. Also, when i drink water it feels nice and am in no more pain. It hurt occasionally but now its constant. Even when I touh it hurts, i think it may be inflamed.
How do i reduce the pain?
Thank you

Why Am I Having A Filling When There’s Barely A Hole?!

Friday, January 18th, 2013
Q.

I went to the dentist today I have not been for over a year as my previous dentist retired and it has been hard with work trying to arrange an appointment I went for a check in and was asked if I had a problem with my teeth the only problem I had was once every couple of weeks when i am brushing my teeth at the back i it feels a little bit tender but apart from that no pain etc so the dentist could not see anything so she said she was going to do xrays so when the results came back on the left hand side of my teeth at the back she showed me my tooth and pointed out a very small dot that i could barley see and said i would need a filling i have never had a filling before and i dont understand why the dentist would want to give me a filling when there is only a little bit of decay can you help me get my head around this?

Should I Have my Tooth Taken Out Or Just Replace The Filling

Friday, January 18th, 2013
Q.

Hi In short I have had medical problems over the last 14 years which all started weeks after having an amalgam filling done. I have spoken to Dentists and been reffered to many differant departmants of health and they have said my problems may be because of my amalgam but they can not garantee, I understand this Issue but am still going to get my filling removed. I have looked into extractions & composite fillings but am wary of dentist who use differant ways of extraction & BPA bondings. I am sensative to chemicals, how can I get the least toxic fillings to replace the ones I have ( silver amalgam), can biocompatible test be done be for & what about porcalins, I am very serious about this could you please advise what may help me.

Should I Get My Teeth Whitened?

Tuesday, January 15th, 2013
Q.

Hi there I just wanted to know whether teeth whitening will be useful for my teeth because all my teeth are trimmed at the front except my back teeth which dnt really show when I smile or talk and my dentist has told me there is no point of me getting the teeth whitening because teeth whitening is to usually improve the colour of your teeth and my teeth and not just yellow in the front but are trmmed/cut off too. And whenever i go to my dentist all they do is a filling on the teeth that are trimmed and the filling falls out after a week or two which doesn’t really help that much, i want something to be more strong, permanent even. im actually really stressed about my teeth i just want them to be nice and white just like everybody else. And because my teeth are yellow i lack a lot of confidence, i cant see or meet new people becasue im too embarrassed because of my teeth. what else is there that I can do other than teeth whitening if that will certainly not help? Or can I just do the teeth whitening and it will help me? Please do let me know i really want something to be done about my teeth i will appreciate it very much. Thank you!

Can I Still Wear Braces If I Have Fillings?

Wednesday, January 9th, 2013
Q.

Hello Dr, Mark Hughes, i wanted to know if you can still wear braces even if i lack 1 molar teeth? and i already have an existing 4 fillings? And i am afraid that wearing braces may cause my fillings to break or get destroyed. I also have this tooth grinding dis order .. . i am really scared that its impossible to fix my teeth anymore. and I absolutely don’t want to have to wear dentures! They’re not for me and i dont think they hygienic. So i basically just want to know if its possible for me to still wear braces with the condition my teeth are in at the moment, and fix my dental problems? I really hope you can help me 🙂 I look forward to your response. thanks in advance 🙂

How Long Do White Crowns Last And How Easily Are They Broken On Children?

Monday, January 7th, 2013
Q.

My son is Two years is there any way that his sliver crown tooth may it be removed and replaced with a white one? If so how long does a white crown last I was told by his dentist it will only last a short period of time like two or three weeks and that he would be able to brake it the same day he got it. Is that true or they just didn’t want to do the work done? I’m not realy a fan of silver crowns .Thank you for you time.

I’m unhappy with my crown, you can see the metal at the gum line! What should I do?

Wednesday, December 5th, 2012
Q.

Hi Doctor Moore. I recently had a crown fitted by my dentist. Recently as in less than two months ago.The crown was fitted to a tooth which had a filling due to decay. I was still subject to some pain in the tooth with the filling and was also not happy about the filling as it was extremely noticeable. The new crown which has been fitted is a completely different shade to my other teeth, sits proud of them making them look crooked and is also showing metal at the gumline. It is the second tooth from centre on the top row. It has also been filed down quite substantially under the crown. What would you advise? It’s making me feel very self-conscious. Thank you for your time, I eagerly await your response!
