Q. hello sir, i am 21 years old male from kashmir, india, i have a white patch on one of my frontal teeth.doctor here suggested me porcelain veneering.i wanted to know whether there are any side effects related to it,and will it be for life time…do i need to redo it.if so,after how many years… thamk you sir
A. yes
veneering is a non reversible process which will neeed replacing.how soon this happens depends on the quality of the work and your cleaning and dietary habits.this time can vary from 8 to 12 yrs and should not be done lightly and by a dentist who has a good quality of work
you can try drilling away the white area and doing composite bonding

Q. Hello, As a young boy and teen i didn’t really look after my teeth well or had the money to help sort my problems, but now i’m 22 and i have no confidence and i feel bad i’m quite popular person and with the ladys but my teeth makes me feel bad and makes my life hell my top front right teeth is basically gone there is less then 1mm of it left same with the one on thr right next to it, my left front teeth is showing standing firm the one tooth on the left of it is chipped… Other then that all my teeth on the sides bottom and top are fine shape and size just dis-colored my top front teeth has always been crooked and same with my bottom front teeth. But as i’m scared to death of the dentist and won’t take injections is there anyway i can cover these teeth as i’m too scared to have them taken out! Like false clip on teeth or something? is there anything like that avalible and if so what would the cost be seeing i’m unemployed too so my budget would be slim i know it would be best to have them taken out. But i just want something to fix my smile and make me confident and make my life alot easier and not always depressed about them! Thanks

Q. I am interested in having my teeth whitened, I have heard that it is not good for the teeth and weakens the enamel, could you advise a procedure that would be safe, painless and gentle to my teeth and also look natural but not too white.
A. it is complete rubbish that whitening damages the enamel i would recommend a prolonged home whitening course or a combi in house laser and home whitening treatment

Q. Hi there, just came across your website, and as a young graduated VT, i am interested in furthering my skills and knowledge. one of the things i was looking at doing was clear step, and saw that you are a practicing practisioner. Is it really as effective and successful. if there is a choice between and inman aligner, clear step or invisalign what would you chose? i would be really grateful if you can answer these for me. best wishes
A. firstly this is purely my personal opinion gained from my personal dealings with all of the above .
the clear aligner systems such as clearstep and invisalign are similar in function but i prefer invisalign out of the two as my dealings with clearstep have been unprofessional on their part.
the inman aligner has a specific purpose mainly for anterior incisors and is effective . the lab involved with this system also provide their own clear aligner system for minor corrections
the inman and invisalign are good start points but forget clearstep

Q. I am 29 years Old. I have a gap teeth and the Right side has over grown more than the left side. I can!t Smile and it becoming a serious issue. I!m so depressed and need help.
A. it would seem that you should consider orthodontics or a smile makeover.
the easiest thing is to book a consultation with a cosmetic dentist you find convienient and run through possible solutions that fit your budget

Q. Dear Dr Butt I am a 32 year old female having been diagnosed with acute periodontal disease. I have already lost 5 teeth and Guys hospital have given a poor diagnosis. I have severe bone loss and a denture top right has been recommended for now. I was devestated when told but now having got used to the info, I realize the out come is poor. My treatment is being paid for by HC2 certificate. Can you tell me about implants and bone grafts and the cost. Any info would be greatly appreciated. I am in West London. I have everything going for me and this is a particularly grim time for me. Kind regards
A. hi,
this is quite complex as it depends on where the bone is deficient and how much is left .
the price can vary a great deal.
i can offer you a free consultation with an implantologist at one of our practices , or i can recommend avenue dental based in ealing who may be closer to you.

Q. Hi there. I have recently chipped one of my front teeth. I do not wish to get it filed down as my other front tooth is a crown, and this would only make the crown look bigger! Is it possible to have tooth bonding on this front tooth? It is a small thin chip, and only noticable up close. If so does this need to be done privately or can it be carried out on the NHS? thank you for your time
A. hi if this is purely cosmetic which it sounds like it will be a private treatment . if it is a tiny sliver bonding does not always work but is worth a go if it bothers you

Q. hi am 23 year old female, i have type 1 diabetes. i have recently noticed that i am getting a small gap in between my front two teeth, its only small but i am really self conscious am find myself looking at the mirror every hour or so. what would you recommend. thank you
A. it is common for diabetic patients to be unable to fight infection once they get it as well as a completely healthy individual.this is why there is usually a higher occurrance of gum disease . it is possible this applies to your case as a minor gum inflammation.
i would advise a good clean by a hygienist and allowing time for the gum to heal as it may only be a minor fluctuation in the tissue

Q. i hv extremely sensetiv teeth i want to know if i can hv teeth whitened at dentist without using peroxide. and what is safe to use for whitening teeth on a low budget. thankyou
A. hi
any non peroxide systems will not bleach the teeth per se , but if you have a high amount of surface staining air abrasion is very effective but you will still experiance sensitivity during this procedure which takes around 20 minutes in chair and is cheaper than bleaching.

AFTER COMPLETING THE SCOOLING STEPPED IN TO THE PG COURSE ALSO IT WAS THE SAME SCENARIO. THEN STARTED EXPERIENCING SEVERE PAIN IN TOOTH. IT WAS SO HAPPENED I CONSULTED THE DENTIST HE HAD SUGGESTED ME THE CHOICE OF RCT AND ALONG WITH THE EXTRACTION OF THE FRACTURED TOOTH CANINE. UNDERWENT THE EXTRACTION. RCT WAS CARRIED OUT. NO PROBLEMS FOR THE LAST 5 TO 7 YRS. GADUALLY THE PAIN RE APPEARED AND STARTED WITH ANTIBIOTICS IN BETWEEN THERE WAS A FACTURE OF CROWN 1 YR AGO AND THE BRIDGE WAS RE CONSTRUCTED. NOW THE PAIN RE APPEARS ONCE IN 6 MONTHS. SUBSIDES WITH ANTIBIOTICS. WHAT SHOULD I DO NEXT? KINDLY GIVE ME YOUR VALUABLE SUGEESTIONS, OPINIONS AND FURTHER MANAGERIAL LINES. THANKING YOU.
A. you need to isolate the pathology and if the tooth has already been root filled consider the place ment of an implant

What can gum graft do for me will they cover the slightly exposed roots to be exact the dentist i see informed me he would see them by a 1mm but im worried my teeth could fall out. my gums dont bleed. What other options do I have?
