My gum covers a large proportion of my front tooth, what should I do?

Thursday, October 6th, 2011
Q.

I have Gintivitis at the front of my teeth. Its a large prutruding gum that almost covers my front tooth and i have a very large gap. I dont know what to or where to go for help. its really stressing me as i’ve never been able to smile and i need to. I’ve had this horrible gum since i was a child, and I’ve never onced smiled because i cant and it looks ugly like a piece of chewing gum! I find it hard sometimes to cope with promblem even more when I go in public as people always assume that I’m moody or sad and its annoying all the time. I’ve been searching the net hoping for some answers, you may not be able to help me but I thought I’ll ask as i’m very desperate to smile. it hurts that I cant and i’m afraid that i may never be able to do the one thing thats suppose to come natural to us all. i would be greatful if you could help me or guide me on my next step. Thank you very much for taking time to read my question, I hope to hear from you very soon.

Hello Dr Tennet,

I Have Recently Just Had My Braces Took Off, And I Am Not 100 percent About My Teeth I Have Looked In To Getting A Brand New Mouth Of Dental Implants, Threw My Course Of Getting Braces Gaps Have Been Left In Between Teeth Witch Affects My Smile, My Top Set Of Teeth Are Fine But Also I Am Not 100 Percent Confident With Them And Wanted A New Set Of Top Teeth Also So I Cud Have A Whole Mouth Of Band New Teeth So They Would Be Perfect So I Could Be 100 percent Confident With My Smile, I Was Just Wondering If That Would Be The Right Path To Go In?, i Would Really Appreciate Your opinion As It Will Help Me A lot.

Would £900 cover the cost of a dental implant?

Thursday, October 6th, 2011
Q.

Hello Mr Tennet, I have two front teeth missing (1 upper 1 lower) whilst I wear a false plate for my upper it is not a very good fit and given this is my third one it is quite expensive £180-£200 a time. I pay a dental insurance £20 plus a month but this does not cover for “cosmetic” what are my options in terms of implant I could afford around £900 this year would that cover an upper implant? My missing lower tooth is as a result of the gum receeding so I doubt that an implant is an option. Is a consultation exspensive?

What is the best treatment choice for discoloured teeth, veneers or whitening?

Tuesday, October 4th, 2011
Q.

Hello, I am a 21 year old student. I have had discoloured teeth for as long as I can remember. Because of this as a child I neglected my teeth and they just got worse. As I got older I started looking after them more and but I am still ashamed of how bad they are. To help me with confidence issues I need something done to improve my smile. I am thinking about getting veneers, or whitened but not sure whether whitening would do the trick as I let them get so bad. I don’t know where to start. How do I go about assessing my options?

How good are over the counter whitening treatments in comparison to whitening from a dentist?

Wednesday, September 28th, 2011
Q.

Hi Rob,
I would like just a little advice on the best route for 2 issues. I drink quite a lot of coffee and my teeth are an ‘0ff-white- colour. I would really like a gleaming white smile now and wondered what the best way would be to achieve it? About a year or so ago I purchased Dr George’s Dental White, but have only used on a few occasions as im very sceptical of any damage? Is this a good product? I have also just recently purchased the Transformulas professional whitening kit, and after a few appliances it does ‘appear’ to have made a difference. Is professional surgery really the only way to achieve my goal, or are these products worthwhile?
I also have a very slight gap between my top front two teeth and would like this closed, any advice also would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks so much for your time

My daughters had the wrong tooth pulled and has now been recommended braces she doesn’t want, what are the solutions?

Thursday, September 15th, 2011
Q.

Dr. Tennet: My 18 year old daughter recently had her four wisdom teeth out. ..we thought. In error, her upper right second molar was extracted and the impacted wisdom tooth remains. The dentist is willing to do what is necessary to make the situation right and is hoping the wisdom tooth will drop and she can wear braces to move the wisdom tooth forward. We are skeptical that this will work and our daughter does not want to wear braces again, especially in college! We have had one expert look at doing a post implant which our daughter would like. The expert’s first reaction was to tell us she did not have enough bone to do this.
We want to pursue another opinion but would like some guidance before moving forward. Could you give us your thoughts and some advice?
Thank you.

My teeth are not straight or white and I don’t want braces, what can I do?

Thursday, September 15th, 2011
Q.

Hello Dr. Rob Tennet, i have 2 problems with my teeth 🙂

Number 1: they are yellow… i had tried whitening tooth paste for a long time(over 1 year) and not much changed.

Number 2:they are… not straight :(.

I would like to know what costs are involved in straightening and whitening. I also want to mention that i would not like braces…

I would like to have them at least straight in maximum 3 months, if that is possible.
Forgot to mention that I am 18 years old.
