Which Teeth Whitening Procedure Should I Go For?

Friday, May 10th, 2013
Q.

Good afternoon. I have a problem, my teeth are very healthy and they have a perfect form, but the colour, it is just far away from white. My teeth are genetically yellow. I brush them 5 times in one day, but…nothing. What is better laser whitening or Sapphire Whitenting? Can I achieve a perfect white teeth with whitening or better solution are veeners? How Long Do Porcelain Veneers Last? Can they lose their white colour too? I am so sceptical about veneers :S Thank you so much. Have a nice day! 🙂

What Is This Lump In My Mouth?

Friday, May 3rd, 2013
Q.

Hi I have a lump in my mouth. The location of the lump; the corner of my upper right
Gum between the front and side tooth on the right side.

My gum started to swell gradually
It’s been 6 months and I have seen 3
Dentists however no one knows what it is and have not yet taken any tests 🙁 I feel really let down by the NHS.

I can not afford to go private and it just seems to get worse everytime it get prodded around with.

I stupidly tried a home made remedy to whiten my teeth with banana peal could this be the cause?

One of my dentists mentioned it could be my wisdom tooth pushing my teeth forward and irritating the gum to make it swell. And has removed my wisdom tooth.. Would I need braces maybe? 🙁 pls help I can maybe send a picture via email

What Can Be Done About My Daughter’s Fluorosis?

Monday, April 29th, 2013
Q.

Hi,

I am a New Zealander living in Stockholm .Sweden.
We have an 11yr old daughter with fluorosis. She was exposed to too much fluoride around 5-8yrs old.
It is affecting her confidence and she is constantly being questioned about her yellow teeth. She has 2 large white spots on her front teeth.
At times the white spots are very prominent. The difference between her baby teeth and permanent teeth are extreme. We have been trying Mi Paste but have not seen any difference. We hope that this may help strengthen her teeth. Should we be using a fluoride toothpaste…if so, which one?. We are suffering with this and wonder what options we have . We realise that we probably have to wait until she is older…or does she? We would appreciate your thoughts regarding treatments. Is there anything that we can do now?
We are more than willing to visit your office.
A big thanks.

My Teeth Are Very Sensitive And Discoloured, Is Whitening Toothpaste My Best Bet?

Wednesday, April 3rd, 2013
Q.

I am 62 years old and have lost the enamel off my teeth; I have been informed this is due to eating too much fruit.
I am very embarrassed to talk let alone smile, due to the dark colour of my teeth.
I am due to attend a very important wedding soon and I am so worried about my teeth that I am now considering having them whitened.
I do have sensitive teeth and use Sensodyne toothpaste but I believe the whitening process increases sensitivity and am a little concerned about that.
I would truly appreciate your comments please.

My Dentist Says I Shouldn’t Whiten My Teeth, Should I Ignore Him?

Wednesday, February 6th, 2013
Q.

I’m desperate to get my teeth whittened, they’re not terrible but would love a brighter, whiter smile. I’ve had past trials and tribulations. During my mid-teens I suffered with bulimia which I think has contributed to why my teeth are sensitive already.I’m now 26 yrs old fit, healthy and recovered. But I’m forever using whitening toothpastes to attempt to achieve that white smile but still not satisfied! After to speaking to my dentist briefly he has advised me 1. To stop using whitenning tooth pastes and 2. That teeth whittening would be a bad option for me as I have sensitive teeth already, would. It be a terrible idea to ignore him?

My dentist has created a plan to fix the teeth at the back of my mouth, what do you think of it?

Wednesday, December 5th, 2012
Q.

Hi Dr Moore..I wondered if you could help me? I want veneers for a narrow arch and dark coloured teeth at the back (due to lots of dark fillings). My dentist says he feels that whitening and then composite bonding on the back teeth will be an effective and much cheaper option that will give me the results I want as basically the front teeth are fine it’s just the back ones that you can’t see when I smile. He also says that some back teeth might need crowns at some point and this can be done easily with just the composite veneers to remove. What do you think about this? Is he right? Does it sound like a good plan?? It’s nice of him to try and save me money but i want the best results possible. Thank you for your time!

Why are my teeth yellow after whitening treatment?

Wednesday, October 31st, 2012
Q.

I had my teeth whitened using custom made trays from my dentist. I was bleaching my teeth overnight with 10% & 16% carbamide gel for 3 weeks. My teeth looked great, but 24 hours after finishing the treatment, two front teeth are streaky and discoloured ( yellowish streaks and yellowish stains along the very edge of my teeth. I ate WHITE food only and brushed after every meal. Further bleaching will remove all the staining, but every time I stop, the same thing happens. Only my upper teeth are affected.

My veneers appear grey in colour when I have a photo taken, why is this?

Wednesday, October 31st, 2012
Q.

I have veneers on my four front top teeth. I originally had them just on the top two teeth (one is dead route canal filled, knocked out when i was younger on a trampoline with no padding) the other front tooth was chipped when i was younger. When i was 29 i got them redone and my top front teeth made smaller (as they were large) and i had my other two done, to make it better.
They look great to look at, but when i have a photo taken and smile with my teeth showing they seem to come out a grey/black colour – is there anything that can be done to my teeth now? Also is it possible to now wear a brace to straighten my teeth now? i was told because i’d had route canal on my top tooth i wouldnt be able to (40 next year)
Thank you

Can teeth whitening improve my teeth as I have severe fluorosis?

Monday, October 29th, 2012
Q.

I have severe fluorisis caused by having fluoride tablets and fluoride in the water as a child. As a child and teenager I was told that my only option would be to have veneers or caps and I didn’t like the idea of losing my real enamel and then having to replace them. My dentist mentioned tooth whitening and wondered what options there are and how I can go about finding a reputable dentist who would understand my condition? thanks
