Can injured front teeth be straightened and whitened?

Monday, February 22nd, 2010
Q.
Hello, i am a 16 year old who had a dental injury while playing football 2 years ago. This involved my front left tooth falling straight out and my front right being extreamely loose. I had an operation to put the tooth back in and root canal treatment also. I have recently found out my front right now needs root treatment as its very sensitive to hot and cold. However, cut to the point, i was wondering if my front teeth can be straightened in any way, my dentist has told me braces could speed up the rate of resortion. He has also told me that by the time i am 40 it will need taking out, this was shocking news to me. What would be the best solution to straightening and is my dentist just being pessimistic?. Thanks. P.S Since my front teeth may soon discolour due to the treatment, what would be the best method of whitening?.,

Cannot afford dentist teeth whitening but do I have any other options?

Thursday, February 18th, 2010
Q.
I am interested in having my teeth whitened but realistically can’t afford to have it done profesionally. My teeth are yellowed due to years of coffee and smoking. I regularly attend the dentist and have my teeth cleaned, polished and descaled and I no longer smoke. I take good care of my teeth, at 33 yrs old I have no caps, fillings or missing teeth. Can you recommend a good product that I can use and also a tooth paste to help maintain the white teeth?. Thank you.,

Q.
Hello Dr. Caplain. My Six upper front teeth have brown stains on the upper part of the teeth from loss of enamel. Is it possible for teeth whitening/bleech to get rid of it. Or how much would the cost be to get those 6 teeth crowned.,

How can crowns be made whiter?

Wednesday, February 17th, 2010
Q.
I have 4 crowns and a bridge at the front of my mouth. I have had these for approx 6 years but feel that over the years they have discoloured and I do not like the shape of some of the teeth. I would like my crowns to be whiter and more natural looking. What treatment could I have to improve the look of my teeth? I have considered teeth whitening but have been informed that crowns can only be restored to their original colour with this method and this may result in the other teeth being whiter.,

Can I have composite veneers replace to improve teeth colour?

Tuesday, February 16th, 2010
Q.
Hello, Im an 18 year female and I suffer from a genetic condition with my teeth which meant my enamel didnt develop properly, as a child this meant I had quite heaily stained teeth which I found really hard to deal with. At the age of 14, I was sent to London by my dentist to a childrens dentist to have composite veneers fitted. In a way this helped and I gained some confidence back in my smile but 4 years later Im still really unhappy. I dont want a hollywood glistening smile but I do want white teeth and that hasnt been achieved with these composite veneers. Is it possible to have these veneers removed and replaced with whiter ones? or would I need to pay to have porcelain veneers done privately? Im just worried that it will cost so much, and Im so worried my composite veneers will fall off. Ive never told people about the genetic condition Ive had, but Im constantly worried people are looking at my teeth. I just want a white smile, so what sort of route will I need to take to achieve this? Thankyou for any help or advice you can give me.,

Am I correct to say that Enlighten did not whiten all teeth?

Friday, February 12th, 2010
Q.
I have used the Enlighten whitening system for two weeks at home and have had the hour in surgery boosts but have found that half of each tooth has whitened at the other half (nearest the gum) has not. My dentist told me there was no difference but I insisted that there was and have been given another syringe and been told to continue treatment for another two weeks. Is it safe to continue? Would you have expected better results? What do I say if it doesn’t work again? Many thanks,

Is toothe whitening causing pain?

Thursday, February 11th, 2010
Q.
Hi, I was booked in for three front teeth out and a bridge put in place. I also asked if my teeth could be whitened and my dentist said yes and quoted me a price for the bridge and tooth whitening to both top and bottom teeth. However the day before my appointment a friend said I should check before my whitening because his dentist had said his own gums were not in good shape for him to whiten. I had gum surgery and all trimmed back about 25 years ago which showed tooth root. This has gradually got worse and my top teeth and gums have been sensitive for years with bleeding and swelling. Nothing I do changes his. The gums look and feel loose in places on the top. When I got to my appointment I mentioned this and asked would the bleaching process not be advisable with these gum pockets and the risk and he agreed with me it would. I am horified that he would have gone through this process if I had not have voiced my concern because he had priced me for bridge and whitening. Consequently I have not gone through with either the bridging or bleaching and am not at all keen to go back to him. I feel he could have caused my immense paid. What do you think? Help !!,
