Do dentists use models for pictures on there websites

Sunday, October 26th, 2008
Q.
Good morning, Just a quick inquiry! Do dentists use models for pictures on there websites or for general advertising in magazine or posters that really have had teeth knocked out or removed and would they generally get a discount on there treatment if not free? Or do they have any new dental treatments that you need someone in my condition to experiment on? I am asking these questions because i am a 24 year old man who almost 2 years ago was assaulted and i have had 3 teeth knocked out from my upper jaw and 2 from my bottom jaw and i desparate for them to be fixed. Thanks for reading i hope you can reply!

I recently had one of my silver fillings repaced with a porclein onlay

Monday, October 20th, 2008
Q.
I recently had one of my silver fillings repaced with a porclein onlay which took 2 weeks to complete and once it was completed i had pain in that tooth and could not bite down however 2 days after i had the onlay fitted i had an appointment at another dentist which carries out cerec fillings which are conpleted in one day. however when the new dentist looked at the onlay he could see straight away that there was a gap and he couldnt beleive that my original dentist did not notice this. I now need to get this onlay redone so i have contacted my original dentist and have an appointment next week but i am nervous about receiving treatment from him and was wondering if i am etitled to a refund since i am not confident that he can carry out the treatment correctly and i dont want to have to wait another 2 weeks since i go back to university net week! thank you

can you help me komal with my daughters teeth

Sunday, September 14th, 2008
Q.
Hello Komal, not too sure whether you will be able to help me or not; but here goes. My daughter has just turned 4. We have had a problem since here teeth first appeared. Mainly the 4 front top and 4 bottom. At first the dentists thought it was flourosis, so we treated her accordingly, however after extensive hospital tests it proved nothing of the sort. As we were advised to avoid flouride, we now realised she needed it more than ever. Her teeth on the face and cutting edges started to crumble. We were referred to the Orthodontics hospital in Bristol where she had white painted material intially applied, and then over later months almost like a white filling applied to the directly affected areas. The problem is that these filings fall off after a week or so and then her teeth become too painful for her to eat. We have been told that they can keep reapplying these surface fillings, however we were wondering whether there is a more permanent alternative? The last resort is to have the teeth removed with GA but the hospital do not think these teeth are bad enough to merit this. Due to the constant irritation and pain my daughter is in, is there a cosmetic solution that we can apply to these milk teeth? veneers? I can send you some images of the affected teeth if you believe this would help in your appraisal. Many Thanks in advance.

I have always wanted to have a straight, white smile

Friday, September 12th, 2008
Q.
Dear Komal, I have always wanted to have a straight, white smile so started asking my dentist what options I could explore. My teeth are in good condition but the front left tooth is turned sideways slightly which leaves a gap between the two front teeth when looking at my right side. The tooth to the left of the crooked tooth is also turned sideways. I had white filling put on these two teeth about 7 years ago to give them a straighter appearance but now it has turned slightly darker than the other teeth. My dentist first suggested veneers but after more inspection said white crowns would be best for the two ‘sideways’ teeth. The only thing is I think I would like to have the first 6 front teeth crowned or veneered as they are all different lenghts and my k’nine teeth are quite pointy. Are you able to mix porceline veneers and crowns when they are positioned next to each other and would they be noticeably different? I am only asking as I know it is not great to fit crowns to already healthy teeth as once you have had them done you can not go back to not having them, cost is also a factor. Also I would like my teeth whitened before the procedure. What would be the average cost for 2 crowns and 4 porceline veneers with full teeth whitening before hand? Or can you suggest an alternative. I was quoted £500 per tooth for crowns and £100-£150 for porceline veneers. Is this a good price for quality as I want them to last a very long time.
