Can you give me a price guide for a smile makeover?

Monday, March 15th, 2010
Q. hi i am travelling to work in turkey this summer and would like a price guide to how much it wud cost me for a smile makeover .. my teeth arnt all that bad however some work my be needed could you give me location in turkey i could have this treatment and average cost for venners, crows etc. many thanks,
A. I can only recommend places in the UK as I am uncertain about the dental clinics in Turkey. I would strongly advise that you do your research before you embark on any cosmetic treatment. This can be to visit the clincs before hand, get plenty of information and ask to see pictures of previous cases to see the standard of work that they provide. It is also a good idea to visit several practices before you decide to go ahead. Good luck and I hope this has helped.

Is cost of smile makeover reasonable?

Thursday, February 25th, 2010
Q. Hi, i have just investigated with my dentist about how I go about improving my smile, I’ve had some photos done with him but he’s said the next step is about a 3 hour appointment to undergo teeth modelling with a view to then working on the models to show me how they can be straightened and what technique will work best. I’ve been given a cost of just under £500 to do this, does this sound about right? My dentist tells me that only once this is done he will be able to discuss a plan and costs to actually starighten my teeth. Your advice would be appreciated, as I would like to check this is standard practice before I proceed. Thanks.,
A. It sounds like a good idea to give you a better idea of what can be achieved for you before you commit to a full smile makeover

Can I get radiograph done in UK for smile makeover abroad?

Friday, February 19th, 2010
Q. hi i’m looking at having a smile make-over abroad (Malaga or Marbella). It’s alot easier if i get a panoramic radiograph in digital format in england so i can get a consultation/quote online from spain rather than making more trips there. If i contact a local private dentist do you think they’d mind me askin for them to do it even though i’m not actually getting the work done by them? Thanks,
A. This may be an issue.  Also be very careful that you are making the right decision as the standard of cosmetic treatment varies greatly – make sure you see work they have carried out and possibly speak to a patient that has had treatment already carried out by the clinic

How much does a smile makeover cost?

Wednesday, January 20th, 2010
Q. how much does getting smile makeovers cost and how old do you have to be to get it done get bk 2 me soon,
A. In my practice a smile makeover usually deals with at least 8 teeth.  The cost varies dependign on the treatment involved but in my practice the fee ranges from £6 K to £9 K.  Generally I would not carry out a smile makeover on a patient less than 18 years old.

What is a cheap way to treat discoloured and misaligned teeth?

Friday, January 15th, 2010
Q. Hello, I am a 20 year old college student and since middle school, my teeth have been severely discolored and unaligned. Everyday I wish for a better smile, but I always come to the conclusion that this is how mother nature made my teeth look. I want to live confidently knowing I have a beautiful smile so now I am seeking any way possible to achieve this. Unfortunately, veneers and lumineers and braces are all very expensive. Where can I found an inexpensive, beautiful, and happy smile?,
A. Your best options will be investing in tooth starightening and whitening.  Invisalign and 6 month smiles are great options to straighten your teeth and then you can have them whitened.  Finance can be arranged for most treatment often at 0% interest so you can pay for your treatment in smaller monthly installments.  Find a good dentist, DO NOT RUSH INTO TREATMENT, If it is too expensive wait until your circumstances improve, cheaper is not always better.

Could you examine my teeth would like to have better smile?

Thursday, December 10th, 2009
Q. Hello Dr Moore. You were recommended to me by Dr Chris Dewberry of Birkbeck College London. As my e-mail address suggests I live in France but I often stay in Colchester. I would like to arrange a consultation with you to discuss the current state of my teeth. The front upper teeth in particular are very uneven and though I don’t want an exaggerated ‘Holywood smile’ some improvement is definitely in order. I look forward to hearing from you,

A. I would be very happy to arrange a consultation for you and give you a few options to improve your smile. You could call the practice on 01245 268 494 or e-mail me times/dates and I will arrange a suitable timeenquiry@advancedentalclinic.comBest wishes  Andrew

Can I smile again with a crooked teeth and gum recession?

Monday, November 30th, 2009
Q. I am 55 and have discloured crooked teeth with recession of gums due to long standing disease. I really want to smile. Is it possible to help me with crowns/veneers?

A. This is often a great solution to aesthetic issues following stabilization of the gum health.  Once they have been fitted it will be very important to see the hygienist 3 monthly to keep the periodontal disease under control.  Please come and see me for a free consultation for me to give you a more informed view

Embarrassed about my smile is there any other solution than braces?

Friday, November 27th, 2009
Q. I am very embarrassed about my smile my teeth are just so wonky they just look a mess what other solutions are there instead of braces I want them sorted out as soon as possible. Please help!

A. Braces can take as little as 6 weeks to move your teeth into the right place.  You would be amazed what is possible.  If you still do not want this the other option is veneers but will require the teeth to be heavily prepared which can compromise there health.  Sometimes I will use a brace to move the teeth followed by minimal veneers to improve the shape of the teeth – because the teeth are in a better position the veneers are much safer to do.

Need a dental treatment to smile better from what I have now

Wednesday, November 11th, 2009
Q. Hi Dr Solanki, I have a narrow tooth to the left of my front teeth and to the left of that tooth I have a fang tooth which I really hate the appearance and feeling of, it is positioned a bit higher than my other teeth and when my mouth is closed if you press along my mouth you can clearly feel a difference there, also when smiling it does not look good. I love to smile but past few years I smile alot less with my mouth open, it does affect me and in general most of my teeth need fixing eg; straightened, some reshaped to look even and whitened. I was wondering what could be done to help with my upper left fang tooth so it looks normal and also for all my teeth to be straight, even and white? I would prefer not to have braces. Hope you can make some sense of what I am asking for here and also any general pricing to give me an idea would be great. Many Thanks.

A. Thanks for your questions, although you would prefer not to have braces, I would encourage you to look into the various types of braces which are available today. There are systems which can work in as little as six weeks, as well as systems which are virtually invisble. If however this is really not for you, you may wish to consider having the teeth veneered. The veneers could be used to alter the size, shape, colour and overall aesthetic appearance of your teeth, to create the smile you desire. I hope this helps.
Many Thanks

Teeth problems have severely affected my confidence

Tuesday, November 10th, 2009
Q. I’m 17(nearly 18) but I’m still in full time education (colledge). My teeth severly affect my confidence, I never smile in photos, I have 2 chipped front teeth from rough play as a child and still have 4 worn down baby teeth where my adult teeth haven’t grown through and according to an x ray aren’t there. Is it possible to get vineers/crowns on the NHS?

A. It is go and see your NHS dentist and I am sure they will be able to do something.

Would six month smile braces take longer time?

Thursday, November 5th, 2009
Q. Thank you for your very useful earlier advice. With regards to the ’six month smile’ braces – do they really only take six months or can they end up taking longer? How reliable are they long term, i.e. would my teeth move back afterwards? Many Thanks.

A. Thanks for your questions, the average treatment time for these braces is six months, although some cases can take a little longer. As with all orthodontic treatment, your teeth will naturally want to return to their pre brace position, and so it is necessary to wear a retainer on completion of the treatment. This can be a removable retainer to wear at night, or a fixed retainer, but your dentist will advise you of the best option for you. I hope this will help you.
Kindest Regards

Need a nice smile please suggest treatment

Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009
Q. I had root canal on my bottom front tooth which was a grey colour, i since had my teeth bleached and was told to inject the tooth after the bleaching procedure using the trays and bleach provided. This didnt work and the tooth looks terrible compared to my other teeth which are white. What do you suggest? I just want a nice smile.

A. Thanks for your question, you may wish to consider having the tooth veneered. A veneer is a thin layer of porcelain which is made to fit over the front surface of the tooth, and can be used to improve the colour, shape, size and overall aesthetic appearance of a tooth or teeth. The veneer would be made to match the whitened shade of your other teeth, to give a uniform look to your smile. I hope this helps.

Need to fix receeding gum for a nice smile

Sunday, November 1st, 2009
Q. I think i have receeding gums,my top front tooth is getting longer then the rest, can it be fix with a nice smile?Or am i doomed!

A. Yes it can!  You may have gum disease but you may just need a brace to move your teeth into a more stable position – teeth keep on growing if they are not in a stable position
