What Treatment Would I Need To Move My Teeth Into The Correct Position?

Monday, June 23rd, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Moore. I don’t like the fact that I have a gap between three of my teeth at the bottom. I spoke to a friend who’s a dentist and they said I would need to move a big tooth at the back plus two smaller ones to the left of the front teeth. Is it possible to get an approximate cost or an idea of what possible treatments I would need to consider? Thank you for your time and expertise. I look forward to your response.

My Orthodontist Has Recommended Inter-Proximal Stripping. Will The Gaps From This Be Particularly Noticeable?

Wednesday, June 18th, 2014
Q.

Hi Dr Hughes. I am currently wearing a 4-4 fixed clear brace but with a metal wire.
My orthodontist has recommended I get inter- proximal stripping.
I am worried as I am scheduled to have this done on a Thursday but have a rather important social event to attend on the Saturday of the same week. Would you recommend getting the stripping done before or after? I wouldn’t want to walk around with gaps in my teeth before hand? Thank you for taking the time to listen to me.

I Am In The Final Few Weeks Of Braces Treatment But My Orthodontist Keeps Putting It Back. What Should I Do?

Wednesday, June 18th, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Moore. I am 61 and have had braces for 3 years following periodontal treatment. My NHS orthodontist sees me every 8 to 10 weeks. My teeth are getting straight and she is closing the gaps. She is closing the gaps but I seem to be going round in circles. After a few weeks it looks like the teeth are finally in place but then other teeth move which shouldn’t. I also think that my appointments are too long in between. Each time I go I am told that in my next visit they will be removed and it’s getting frustrating now. What should I do?

What Would Be The Better Option For Me A Dental Implant Or A Resin Bonded Bridge?

Monday, June 16th, 2014
Q.

Hi. My dentist has recommended a resin bonded bridge over an implant for my top left lateral tooth, as he does not believe the space of 6.5 millimeters is sufficient to enable an implant to be successfully inserted. Is this correct? The internet suggests that the minimum is nearer to 5 millimeters (allowing for 1 millimeter gap either side of the tooth).
He has also expressed concern that the bone may need grafting as traditionally the bone is thin in this area and usually inserts only last 10-12 years (with added risk of infection) opposed to the resin bond bridge which lasts up to 8 years normally. Again are these assertions correct/normal?

Can Braces Be Used To Push The Teeth In All Different Directions? How Quickly Can They Do This?

Monday, June 16th, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Moore, I would like to know if arch-wires on braces can push teeth in any direction? Like if the arch-wire pushed the teeth out too much would it then be able to move them back in again? My teeth stick out quite a lot and I’m thinking about wearing braces. Does it take a considerable amount of time to straighten teeth that stick out? Do the different types of braces work differently? I really need help with this as my teeth need sorting out. Thank you for your time.

My Front Tooth Is Impacted. Is There Any Way To Correct This Through Surgery Or Any Other Corrective Treatment?

Friday, June 13th, 2014
Q.

Hello Mark. I hope you can help me. My front tooth is impacted after a milk tooth was forcibly pulled by my primary school teacher. Can a front impacted tooth be pushed out through surgery? I was told in the US that a good dental surgeon could do it. Or can it be extracted and replaced with a dental implant? Also another tooth is cracked. Is there any assistance you could give me? I am not working is there anything that can be done? Thank you for your time.

I Was Just Wondering If I Could Have Braces And How Much They Are Going To Cost?

Friday, June 13th, 2014
Q.

Hi Andrew.  I was just wondering if I could have braces and how much they cost? I have very crowded teeth and they are crooked and some of my teeth need positioning further forward as they are growing all over the place. I have to have two operations on my incisors because they are angled wrong. How long do you think I need braces on for? And do you think I should opt for fixed braces or clear ones?
Thank you for you time. I look forward to your advice.

My Tooth Has Become Slanted Since I Stopped Wearing My Retainer. Is There Any Way To Have This Fixed?

Wednesday, June 11th, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Moore. I’m looking to have my teeth tidied up. My big front tooth has become slanted over the years from not wearing a retainer once my braces were removed. Is there any way I can have this fixed without the long term hassle of fixed braces? My top teeth also look as though they could and should be filed down, as they appear to look jagged.
If all of this can can be achieved, would you be able to estimate how much this would cost? Thank you for taking the time to listen to my enquiry.

I’m In Need Of Braces To Fix My Really Bad Overbite. Do You Know Of Any Cost Effective Solutions?

Monday, June 9th, 2014
Q.

Hi Dr Hughes. I have a really bad over bite and I’m in need of braces. Which ones would be best for a severe over bite? I had a jaw operation when I was 13. My teeth were really straight then and I needed veneers on my 2 front top teeth. That’s when my teeth started to move out again. I have not got a massive budget have you got any cost effective suggestions please as what I could do to make them look better, as I have little to no confidence. People always glare at me it’s so embarrassing. I would be very grateful for you advice.

I Had Braces Five Years Ago But Now My Teeth Are Moving. What Are My Options To Move Them Back Into Place?

Friday, June 6th, 2014
Q.

Hi Mark. I had braces around 5 years ago now. And ever since my teeth have moved slightly. The gaps from the side of my mouth where I have had teeth out are more visible and the front teeth have moved forward so my first big two teeth have pushed forward. Is there anything that can happen that will not cost thousands of pounds to pull my teeth back into place?
The bottom teeth have inevitably moved also but my main worry are the top teeth as these are more visible.
Thank you.
