I Have Severely Crooked Teeth Due To A Childhood Illness. I’m Looking For A Competent Orthodontist. Can You Recommend One?

Tuesday, December 10th, 2013
Q.

Hi Marcus.

I am after a specialist advice if I may please.

The dentist I went to earlier in the year has agreed to refer me to an orthodontist, unfortunately I haven’t been contacted for a consultation.

I have severely crooked teeth due to childhood illness resulting in my baby teeth falling out before my adult teeth were formed. My teeth in general require quite a lot of work (without being overly dramatic).

Can you please direct me to a competent professional who will be able to help?

Thank you.

What Sort Of Treatment Should I Consider To Fix My Overbite?

Monday, December 9th, 2013
Q.

Hi, I was wondering what sort of surgery I could get to improve my teeth. I have a bit of an overbite and the top front two teeth are much larger and not in line with the other teeth. It’s a bit like the two teeth are like bunny teeth. I’d really like the top row of teeth to be straight and for the two front teeth not to stick out like they do, however I’m unsure what action would need to be taken to solve this problem. I’m fine with getting braces, I am just curious how they’d work because it’s not like there’s a gap between any of my teeth for teeth to shift towards. Thank you.

I Have One Crooked Tooth Which Stops Me From Smiling. What Would Be The Cheapest Way To Fix This Before I Go Travelling?

Friday, December 6th, 2013
Q.

Hi Dr Moore. It’s just a quick query. I previously had braces while I was in school and had a permanent brace fitted behind my front top teeth. This however broke after a month and they wanted to charge me again which I stupidly didn’t but I have learnt my lesson now. I have one crooked tooth and the rest are straight but I hate smiling for the sake of this one tooth. I was just wondering what I could have and what is the cheapest as I’m on a tight budget saving for travelling.

Many thanks, I look forward to hearing from you.

I Am Worried That My Wisdom That Certain Teeth Will Be Pushed Out By My Wisdom Teeth. How Can I Get Straightened Teeth?

Thursday, December 5th, 2013
Q.

Hi, I am 28, and for years now I have not been happy with my teeth. When I was 15 I had teeth removed to make room for a brace. The brace seemed to do nothing and my teeth are now misshaped. I also have wisdom teeth coming through which have been coming through for years now and don’t seem to be growing much further. I am worried that certain teeth in my mouth will be pushed out by my wisdom teeth. I am wanting straight teeth that are not misshaped but not sure of the cost involved could you help?

My Incisors Are Bent And Displaced From Their Actual Position. What Treatment Could Fix This Problem For Me?

Tuesday, December 3rd, 2013
Q.

Hello Dr Moore, I wonder if you can help me. I am 18 years old. I have a problem that my two central incisors in the upper half are a little inwardly bent and the two lateral incisors (on both sides of the central incisors) are displaced from their actual position. They have shifted a little backwards in my mouth. I am not able to speak properly because of this and I would like ideas on what would be the best way to fix this problem? I also have a problem in my lower half. One of my canines is displaced backwards. Thank you for listening, I’m just after some information really.

Hi. I’m Worried As My Teeth Are Moving Back After Inman Aligner Treatment.

Monday, December 2nd, 2013
Q.

Hi. 2 weeks ago my Inman aligner was removed, and I was very happy with the result. As soon as the Inman was removed my dentist fixed a fitted retainer to the back of my teeth.
Within a day, I noticed my tooth had moved slightly and got very dis-heartened. I called my dentist and she told me ‘it can’t move, if your worried put your Inman back in until you see me next week’ So I did that and my tooth moved slightly back to position before I saw her again. When I visited her, she told me my tooth was fine and gave me a plastic retainer to wear at night. She said if your concerned, I suggest you wear this every day for the next month. It has now been 5 days. At times I have to remove the plastic retainer for eating and drinking and I’ve noticed that my tooth is moving again. I’m concerned. I am doing everything that the dentist has told me to do but I’m not convinced. Surely with a fixed retainer my tooth shouldn’t move? Sometimes I wear my Inman because it puts extra pressure on the tooth but I can’t do this for the rest of my life. Any advice would be great.

Do You Need Braces If You Only Have A Little Bit Of An Overbite?

Monday, December 2nd, 2013
Q.

Do you need braces if you only have a little bit of overbite? My top four teeth are covering my four bottom teeth just a tiny bit so would I need braces? Would I need braces on my top teeth and my bottom teeth or just the top teeth or the bottom teeth? Also my four bottom teeth are a tiny bit crooked as well, would I need braces for that? What kind of health issues are caused by overcrowding? Thank you, I know I have a lot of questions, but any information you can provide me with would be a great help.

My Dentist Recommends Braces For Me But I’m Unsure. What Other Treatment Should I Consider?

Friday, November 29th, 2013
Q.

In the upper front of my mouth, I have a very bad overbite with a very large gap in the middle. My gap looks like I have a tooth missing but I don’t it is just a large gap. The two teeth on both sides of the gap are the overbite. Will I be able to get a partial, I can not afford implants, What do you recommend? I am a female middle age and I am not comfortable smiling. Is it too late to make the repairs needed. I can not afford dental implants. I know I will have to have the two front teeth removed. Is it normal to have a gap this large? My dentist recommends braces, I do not want to go that route, one of my front teeth is loose and I don’t think braces is the answer.

I Was Bitten By A Dog Recently And The Gum Line Has Dropped Lower. What Treatment Do I Need?

Wednesday, November 27th, 2013
Q.

Hello Dr Hughes, I’m hoping you can help me. What it is, is my tooth has been wonky since I was a child anyway but recently I was bitten by a dog and the gum line and the tooth has dropped lower and back behind the next one and now I’m struggling to eat solid foods as it’s getting caught. I was wondering if any orthodontic or any other treatment could help as it’s also severely effecting me emotionally too as I’m isolating myself as I’m not used to looking like this and have had nasty comments aimed at me calling me names. Thank you and I look forward to your reply.

I’d Like To Perfect My Smile Before I Go To University But I Don’t Want Metal Braces. What Are My Orthodontic Options?

Tuesday, November 26th, 2013
Q.

Hi, my two front teeth have a tiny gap in between them and my two canines are also slightly higher than I would like (this is due to the fact that when I was younger my canines came in while I still had my baby teeth, I had two white lumps above my teeth when they started growing and although my teeth were a bit wobbly I basically had to pull them out). Is there any way I could fix my teeth without the full metal braces? I wondered about getting an Inman aligner, however I was not sure whether it would help pull down my canines. The problems I mentioned are not severe and my teeth are not terribly high however I would like to perfect my smile. I really do not want metal braces as I am going to university soon and do not want to start off with braces. I was wondering if that doesn’t work if there is anyway to just pull my teeth down? Please help 🙂
