Are the newly grown gums strong enough to hold the new tooth?

Sunday, August 23rd, 2009
Q.
When my son was a toddler he knocked his two bottom teeth on a table. They were not knocked out, but were very loose. Luckily they were okay and becam stronger, he is now 4 and a few months back he opened a bottle with a pull lid with his teeth. One of the two teeth became lose. I thought it would just fall out, months later it is still just lose, causing no pain. The other day I noted his gum was receeded. I assumed this was due to the wobbly tooth. This morning, it fell out, the tooth that is. I am worried that when his new teeth advenualy grows through the gum will still be low and not hold his tooth. Will his gum grow back, and hold his new tooth?

i removed my front lower left tooth but still have pain in gums could you help me?

Monday, May 11th, 2009
Q.
Hi In June 2008 I fell down and knocked my front lower left tooth out. I had the tooth put back in about an hour and a half later and fitted with a splint. I had the splint removed about 2 weeks later where the tooth had set back in place. I was then having a lot of pain from this tooth so went to the dental hospital in Sheffield, here they removed the nerve and about 7 weeks later went back (referral by my own dentist) and had root canal treatment (this was in December). After root canal treatment I was still in pain – was told not given it long enough, so had to wait another 2 months. I waited and still had pain, I was then told it had been unsuccessful (and had resorption), so would try removing the bottom of the root, this never happened and I was told I needed to have my tooth removed and this would remove my pain. I have had it removed at my own dentist (April 2009) and am still in a lot of pain. I have been back to my dentist where they have given me antibiotics- not worked still have pain in my gum and the inside and outside of my chin is burning up. I am still unable to eat correctly, bend forward and keeps me awake at night. My dentist doesn’t seem to know what the problem is. Just wondering if you could help me? Many thanks

Tuesday, April 21st, 2009
Q.
Hi, I am 16 and have 2 impacted teeth and 2 missing teeth. My mouth can only fit 2 teeth. In a result I’ll have 2 missing teeth and the gaps will be closed by braces. I was wondering if in later life I could have venners to make it look like I have all of my teeth there?

Hi, I chipped my front tooth around July last year and just under half of it went. Im 14 and I got a filling put in. I was wondering if I can wear a mouth guard without the filling coming out. Also what procedures will happen in the future? Thanks.

is it possible for me to restore my crowded teeth and how can i get a normal set of teeth?

Sunday, April 19th, 2009
Q.
Hi, When I was 8, I accidentally lost one of my front teeth (the left incisor). For some reason I can’t understand, nobody told me to put a fake tooth in to keep the gap wide enough for future restoration. With time the gap closed. Now I am 21 and I have 1 (long) incisor in the middle of 2 canines. The rest of my teeth are in perfect shape apart for some crowding on my lower jaw due to the missing tooth. Is it possible for me to restore my teeth? How can I get a normal set of teeth? I can put on braces to pull my teeth and recreate the gap to place a tooth but this solution is very long and I won’t be 20 forever. So I’m looking for alternatives that would take less time. I would greatly appreciate any advice Thank you

I have broken decay or missing teeth what is the best option

Thursday, April 2nd, 2009
Q.
My front 4 teeth are just fine on the top, however the rest on either side are either broken, decaying or missing. What would be my best bet with dentures? Partials, over dentures, or complete upper set?

My mother has dental phobia and we want quick solution for her missing teeth

Monday, March 30th, 2009
Q.
Dear Dr Solanki, I hope that you can help me…. My Mother has always been plagued by dental problems for as long as I can remember, 15-16 years ago many of her front teeth were chipped decayed and rotten, she was scared stiff of the dentist but over time decided to go and get partial dentures fitted. She is now 70 years of age and her one remaining front tooth has just dropped out, she is happy to just leave it now, but it is my Sisters wedding next April, and she is upset that her mother will be toothless in the photos. My Mother is scared of visiting the dentist again, convinced nothing can be done and that it will be painful, and we can’t afford expensive implants or even to redo her dentures. Are there any economical temporary solutions that would be a Happy Compromise for my sisters big day? I would be very grateful if you could advise me. Happy New Year
