Hello

I have been considering getting invisalign for a while now and have decided to finally go for it. Briefly, my history is that i have a natural gap between my two front teeth as well as quite widely spaced lower teetth. The gap between the front teeth was covered up by veneers done by my dentist, who was not a cosmetic specialist. A few years later i’m not 100% happy with my teeth particularly the size of the veneers as well as the gaps and protrusion. I’ve been to see an orthodontist as well as an invisalign specialist / cosmetic dentist. Orthodontist thinks fixed braces are best and the specialist says invisalign will solve the issue. I am torn between going with the orthodontist or dentist. Invisalign is my preference, and my question is whether orthodontic experience should be a pre-requisite in the person i choose.
Thanks

Invisilgn was ruled out as less effective. She visited her Dentist to have the extraction and was advised they could fit a Brace (Inman Aligner??)top and bottom, no extraction but file the teeth giving an almost as good a result in 4 months, £2400, she did not have extractions as she needed to think.Neither practice provides the treatment the other does and neither mentioned a lingual Brace (ingognito?). We now do not know what to do. She is slightly worried about the conspiciousness of the Ceramic train tracks, particularly on the bottom, but if the Inman aligner is less effective then why not opt for Invisilign, alternatively is an Incognito Lingual brace going to cost more than the £3000 for ceramic train tracks, we may have to pay another £150 just to find out!! Any advice more than welcome.

I am a 25 yr. old male with spacing of my upper front teeth as well as an open bite developed from a tongue thrust condition. This also causes my chin to appear recessed somewhat. I have been in Invisalign treatment for about 6 months. I already had mild lip and chin strain due to the open bite. Upon wearing the aligners I felt a lot more discomfort and strain with the added thickness of the aligners over my teeth. I explained this to my orthodontist who suggested I could just wear one aligner at a time, 12hrs. a day. I have been doing this but I feel like the compensation the muscles around my mouth had to make for the aligners changed the shape and appearance of my chin and lower lip muscles causing some “rippling.” I now wish I had gone with Lingual braces which go behind the teeth, but they are not provided by this orthodontist. Is it possible to seek another orthodontist providing lingual braces and just get them done on the top teeth and continue invisalign on the bottom? I have also been looking into having a chin advancement (genioplasty) done to correct the recessed chin and hopefully relieve some of the lip strain. But could you give me any information on types of surgery that can be done to correct the open bite itself? As I have been told braces alone cannot correct the open bite. Thanks so much for your help.

I was just wondering if you can get veneers at 16 with parental permission? I am very self conscious and would like my teeth sorted before i start college in september. My bottom teeth are straight, however my top front teeth protrude and are quite crooked and some overlap eachover. I also find two of my teeth on the top to be quite fanged. I also find my teeth to be quite stained. I feel as if braces won’t sort the problem out quick enough and may also make me even more self-conscious as i am aware with of the comments that come with braces. I want to be able to smile and not be worried what people think.

Thankyou.
