My dentist said I would have to pay an extra £1000 for a bone graft, is this correct?

Monday, September 3rd, 2012
Q.

Hello, just a couple of quick questions as I didn’t ask my dentist. I have just had a bone graft as i am planning on receiving dental implants soon. Firstly,  can  I drink wine? My dentist said i can but I would like you to tell me what you think, it would be nice to have a second opinion because I am still unsure after reading a few things on the internet. He gave me a price for the dental implants and he told me that was for every thing. But as he was pulling my teeth, he told me that I needed a bone graft and  that it would be an extra  £1000 pounds. I just don’t think that seems right, what do you think? Thank you for any advice.

Could the injection have caused damage to my nerve during the filling procedure?

Monday, September 3rd, 2012
Q.

Dr. Hughes, I had a small filling done on a tooth in the front. The small cavity was almost in between the 2. The injection site has been somewhat bother some and now the tooth is loose and irritation is increasing coupled with a slight oder. I have an upcoming appt. for a full set of xrays and examination of the tooth. What can I expect from my dentist and do I face loosing this tooth? It is in the front..I may never smile again if that tooth has to come out. I would just like a little insight so I am not so anxious when I go for this appt. Could the injection have caused damage to my nerve or root during the procedure?

I have a chip in my front tooth which has left a small gap, what should I do about this?

Monday, September 3rd, 2012
Q.

hiya DR Hughes, i hope you’re okay?

my question is that i have not very bad teeth but quite bad and haven’t really looked after them and know i should have. i am 23 years of age and my front tooth has chipped and left a small gap. i have other holes and stuff in my teeth just wondering what could be done to improve and get them right and white again? for example my tooth at the front has a finger nail thickness gap now and also have holes and gaps else where but not many. they are straight enough and basically i have been scared of dentist for a while i would like to be knocked out or similar procedure for my teeth to be put right again as i really do have a phobia of the dentist…any advice?

How much would it cost to have my overbite corrected?

Monday, September 3rd, 2012
Q.

Hey, I first noticed i had a under bite when i was 14 when my dentist told me that my bottom jaw stuck out more than my top jaw and it was called an over bite after that i avoided smiling in photo’s and if i had to get my picture taking i didn’t smile. Anyway, when i was 18 i got braces on i had them on for 3 years, I was asked at the time – did i want to have the surgery to get it fixed permanently?  i stupidly said no thinking later i could get it done because i was pregnant at the time so when i asked could i get it done i was told no i was too old. i am now 26 years old and was wondering if would now have to pay for the surgery? If that’s true could you tell me how much it would be please? Thanks

How much would it cost to receive: 3 crowns, 3 root fillings and to have 2 teeth extracted?

Friday, August 31st, 2012
Q.

I am looking to have replacement crowns of my upper front 3xteeth, also require bridges to fill gaps on my lower back teeth x 2 to fill gap where 2 x teeth have been extracted (maybe x4) I also need 3 xroot fillings, and would like veneers on remaining teeth visible when I smile, back teeth to be whitened. 11x teeth upper(including 3 crowns) Could you 11x teeth and 2 gaps on lower. What do you think the cost would be for all the work? Also could you recomend a good dentist in the Chehire area, WA6.
KInd Regards J
P.S I have already had a consultation, which cost me £140, after having the special xrays, also 2 x teeth removed which cost £198 per tooth, I was under the impression that this would be the cost if surgical removal was required, although one of the teeth took a while to extract 5 to 10 minutes the other came away easily(both were broken and only had a sml amount above the gum remaining) I did not require surgery, but when I went to pay was charged £396, I coudn’t question this as I had had cotton buds put in the gaps, and couldn’t speak. Please please please, let me know if this sounds ok, or should I question it? I just want nice smile, it’s really getting me sown now, I don’t have the money and am using a credit card to finance my treatment. Have as for a quote on all work that I require, but up to yet not received one; it’s been over 6 weeks since my anitial consultation and it’s already cost £396 extractions+£140 consultaion+£35 for antibiotics(week after first consultation, got an absess on the tooth which was due to be removed)£579. Am a single mum earning £12,000 a year, can have free treatment on NHS, but not the kind I need. Really effecting my confidence. (43year old)

I have an overbite of about 1.5-2cm. What work would be needed to correct this? Potential costs?

Wednesday, August 29th, 2012
Q.

Hi, my teeth have always affected my confidence and am looking to have some improvement work but I’d like to know what kind of work would be involved. I have quite a big over bite, my two front teeth stick out about 1.5-2cm away from my bottom teeth if I bite down, I have quite a small mouth and had 4 teeth taken out when I was 15. I also had braces but after the tracks come off I didnt where my retainer (biggest regret) I’d just like to know the work that would be involved and what the costing would be? Thanks you

Should I have the nerve in my tooth ‘killed’ before the tooth dies?

Friday, August 24th, 2012
Q.

Good morning. I’ve had a porcelain crown on my front tooth for the last 25 years. It has now broken so I need to get it replaced. When I originally had the crown done it was on top of a vital tooth. My dentist said I could either leave the tooth as it is which could cause problems later on as the tooth could die or I could have the nerve ‘killed’ before fixing my new porcelain crown. I’ve had no tooth pain to date with my existing crown and I’m not sure which option is better. Please advise. Many thanks

I can’t afford to pay for cosmetic dental treatments, what are my options?

Wednesday, August 22nd, 2012
Q.

HI there

My teeth are in a really bad state. I had some porcelain crowns on posts done (front top 4 teeth between canines) about 20 years ago. I am now 38 and have lost two of the crowns which has obviously left two gaps and has left some quite ugly decaying bone where the teeth were. All four canines are decaying. ALL my back teeth at the top are either filled, decaying or both. I have no back teeth at the bottom apart from the very back ones. I had a breakdown in November 2011 and have been suffering from anxiety and depresssion since then and I take Fluoxetine on a daily basis. I have just got myself a new job at Jaguar but the state of my teeth is causing people to comment which is making me more depressed. I am not in a position to pay for cosmetic dentistry and am looking for some advice. Hope you can offer something in the way of an answer.
Many Thanks.
