My mother has burning gums after using Corsodyl mouthwash too often and for too long. Can you help?

Monday, November 26th, 2012
Q.

Dear Dr Kalpesh,

My mum had serious effect of excessive use of the mouthwash. She used this mouthwash called Corsodyl Mouthwash for almost 4 months. She used it 4 times in a day with at least 25-30 min at a time until she realised the change in her gums and teethes.
Now she has burning sensation almost all the time and it grows up efficiently if she had any high sugar containing foods. There is some colour change in the lower part of her tongue as well.
Could you please give me some suggestion, how these things could be cured and what major things does she need to do in order to have healthy gums and teeth back.
Thank you.

My granddaughters teeth have rotted all the way up to her gums, what should I do?

Tuesday, November 20th, 2012
Q.

Hi there, I wondered if you could help me? My 5 year old grand daughter has very rotten teeth which have reached gum level they are now rotting in the gum and she is in pain this in turn is causing her to have ear ache. what is the remedy for this? They are still her milk teeth. BUT…Will the adult teeth grow and push these out since they have receded into the gum or will she need an operation to remove them? She has had this problem for the past few days and have been treating her with ponstan for the pain and some olive oil in the ear for the pain there. Thank you in advance for the advice.

My daughter has been in braces for 4 years now and her bite is completely off! Why is this happening and what should we do?

Wednesday, November 14th, 2012
Q.

Hi Dr Hughes, I wondered if you could help me? My daughter had her baby tooth removed (next to front teeth – upper) 4 yrs ago, then a brace was fixed to bring down her permanent tooth. The orthodontist said she would shift her teeth over to bring down the permanent tooth. Well, 4 yrs later, the tooth came down, but she is still in braces and her bite is completely off and her teeth are slanted. What can we do? I have consulted 3 other orthodontists who are not sure about taking over treatment. Please advise me! Thank you!

Can you remove my infected wisdom tooth before I move to New York next week?

Wednesday, October 31st, 2012
Q.

Hi Mr Hughes,
I recently saw my local dentist who told me my wisdom tooth is infected and I need to have it removed. Trouble is, I move to NYC next week and was told that I would have to referred for a hospital consultation. I am currently not in any pain, but am aware it could flair up at any time and of course I don’t want this to happen when in the states. I wondered how much it cost to have it removed privately or if there’s anyway I could have this surgery sooner. Also I am also concerned that I have already had 4 teeth removed when I had braces as a teenager and I am worried that it’s not good to have any more out as it can change to shape of your face in due time.

Many thanks.

After describing my symptoms, do you think I could be suffering from a TMJ condition?

Wednesday, October 31st, 2012
Q.

Dr Safeer Butt,

I think I may suffer from TMJ as my jaw is misaligned, at times the left side of my face becomes sore and warm and the my left jaw and cheekbone are higher and sharper on the left side and virtually invisible on the other. Now I’m not sure if that is just my “good side” for photos and the like or if this is caused by my teeth. As a result the tip of my nose and the bridge twists ever so slightly to the left and so my smile works imperfectly in relation to my nose and chin.

What would you recommend I do? I’m only 16 and I think these issues have arisen from improper wearing of braces, what do you think? It’s beginning to affect my confidence.Thank you for your time.

Is it really necessary for my back 4 molars to be extracted?

Wednesday, October 31st, 2012
Q.

Hi Dr Hughes, my teeth are in really bad shape and recently I decided it was time I did something about it.I made an appointment with a local dentist who after examining them told me that I would have to have four of my teeth extracted. They are two upper Molars and two lower Molars. The teeth have decayed badly over the years so I didn’t question his decision but I am wondering whether there is any way that the teeth can be saved even though two of them are barely visible. What question should I put to the dentist so that he may consider an alternative to complete extraction? Could he transfer me to a specialist to see if they can be saved?

Wednesday, October 17th, 2012
Q.

Dear Dr Hughes,

I would love it if you could help me, I am making a moving picture and would like your input.

I have seen some of your pictures and am excited to move forward.

I am looking for a professional with experience to assist me with this.

The hand of an experienced dentist with ability and creativity is what is needed to get my creative juices flowing for this long-term project that has been in the pipe line for a few years.

I really can’t wait long and I am very receptive to your ideas. Do you have a portfolio I could have a look at? Can you send me a message to arrange a meeting with me? Thank you in advance.

Do I need proof that I suffer from dental nerve injury before I can begin a lawsuit against the NHS?

Wednesday, October 17th, 2012
Q.

You could help me out with this. Do I need to get a diagnosis of dental nerve injury before i start my lawsuit. I have diagnosis of TMJD but I did not mention I had extractions as a child. So before I start my lawsuit for dental nerve damage, do I need a diagnosis, and can my doctor verify it.

Hi

Funnily enough i was thinking of suing the national health service for Because when I was 16 I had 4
permanent tooth removed without my mums consent, first I thought it
was 8 but now read that 4 of them could be impacted wisdom tooth, I
had tooth extractions and braces and it made my attractive face look
unattractive and my 4 wisdom teeth never came through and are hidden
underneath gums because of bad orthodontic work (braces). I have
dental Phobia now, and suspect I suffer from Trigeminal neuralgia
(dental nerve injury) and distress this has caused me is immense. I
went to City University in London (which is the best City University)
and was studying Business Computing but I dropped out because of
Depression. I could’ve done any Business that were of interest to me
and would’ve had the financial backing from my family. But now they
are supporting me because I have panic attacks even in Hospitals. I
have lost interest in many things because of Depression. before my
treatment I was attractive and had no psychiatric illnesses. I feel my
life has been turned upside-down.
