My husband has been told that he can’t have a bridge, should we seek a second opinion?

Friday, September 3rd, 2010
Q.
My husband has to have the tooth between his front tooth and canine tooth removed as it cannot be crowned. His dentist said that it can’t be bridged because the gap is too big and recommended a plate, which fills my husband with horror. As he has a healthy tooth either side, why can’t it be bridged? I had one of my front teeth removed and that was bridged very successfully. Would a second opinion be advisable?,

What is the best option to move or replace a tooth? Should I go for an implant or a bridge?

Thursday, September 2nd, 2010
Q.
Hello, I fell off my bike as a child when my adult teeth were very new and smacked my left front tooth – the root had not finished developing and the tooth subsequently died and discoloured. I had a root canal and a crown placed on it as an adult but I think my teeth have since moved a bit and it sticks out now at the front and has been borderline wobbly for years. I am wondering whether there is any point in getting braces (for the 3rd time! At 38!) to move a dead root or should I go for an implant or a bridge (am worried there might not be enough room for another tooth the same size as my existing front tooth). Having had all 4 wisdom teeth out in one go and two lots of braces I must admit to not being so fond of dentists so the least painful option is always going to be appreciated! I should also admit that I live on island in the Maldives so I can’t get to the dentist often…. does this rule out braces completely? Apologies for the novel, hope you can point me in the right direction! Thank you for your help,

I am having trouble with one of my new implants. Can I have it replaced?

Thursday, September 2nd, 2010
Q.
I have had 2 implants done, one on each side of my mouth. One looks fantastic and fits perfectly but the other looks false and does not fit into my gum like the otherside (i was told the reason is the gap was too small). Is it possible to have it removed and a new tooth fitted to the already existing implant?,

Can I have implants placed on my remaining healthy roots?

Thursday, September 2nd, 2010
Q.
Hi, I have two molars missing on the left side of my mouth, one on the top and one on the bottom. The roots are still there and according to my dentist still healthy. He has said do I want the roots removed? They are not causing me any problems, but I was wondering can a titanium implant be put into my roots. My two front teeth, I lost when I was 11 from a bad fall and I now have false teeth on posts into my roots, which are very healthy. Can an implant be put into my other two teeth onto the roots?,

Q.
If you have constant dull achy pain coming from the area of where your implant is placed, what can this be from? Also can you tell me do the implants need to be regularly tightened after placing? If so what sort of time intervals does that entail ie.. after 6 months? then every year? or what! look forward to reading your advise, or comments…Thank you……,
