I cannot afford dental implant treatment, are there any other options for tooth replacement?

Wednesday, November 30th, 2011
Q.

Hi Dr

I am considering having dental implants after having lost a nuber of teeth in the last 5 years, so currently 4 with the possibility of another on the way out too. I have looked online and while visiting places like Budapest seems good the comments I have had from my dentist hasnt been positive. To the point when I am considering going to the DentalCare Implant for a consultation. Obviously price is an issue as my own dentist mentioned ther approx price in the region of £2000 per implant which I cannot afford as this would take the cost to £10,000 but if I could pay a third of that I would be happy. Are there any options out there for me?

My dentist is closing my missing teeth gaps with braces but I want dental implants. What should I do?

Q.

Hello there, I would like a second opinion on my orthodontic treatment! When I was 10 years old I extracted my first molar/left lower jaw as it was so decayed, the empty socket, overtime shrinked and caused my face to be uneven! When I was 17 years old, I had to remove the rest of the First molars (upper left/upper right/lower right) because of decay! Today I am 22 years old and I can notice that I am starting to age prematurely as the gaps from the molar extractions are starting to shrink, causing my face to lose its structure, hollow eyes, “collapsing face ” kind of effect so I was thinking to have bone graft (as I lost serious bone) and then dental implants. But there is one small problem! I started my orthodontic treatment 1 year ago, for a severe malocclusion from where I will have to have jaw surgery to complete the treatment. At the start of the treatment I mentioned to my orthodontist I would like to keep the (molar extraction) gaps open so I can have dental implants but at my appoiment yesterday she said she wants to close the gaps and that’s what we’ve been doing all along during the treatment. I don’t feel is a good idea as my teeth and jaw are very small anyway and I’m scared this will make it even worse../Plus looking in the mirror and seeing my face changing I don’t like what I see/aging prematurely. Now, my questions are: Is it a good idea for my orthodontist to close the gaps? If it’s not, with orthodontic treatment is she able to stretch the gaps back to original shape so I can have the dental implants? If yes, will I be able to have the dental implants during the orthodontic treatment or after/during the jaw surgery? Thank you very much!

Friday, October 7th, 2011
Q.

i have a large gap between my two front top teeth, not from a missing tooth just naturally. i would like the gap made smaller. when i was younger an xray revealed i didnt have any big teeth to come through so alot of my back teeth up and down are all milk and at the moment one is so lose i cant even brush it, i know it needs to come out as i know its making my breath smell but im so scared of having it out and dont know what my options would be to replace it, im 24 and really dont want a flase tooth i would like an implant. i also have a tooth missing which was a milk tooth and a g tooth never grew through which i would like replaced. what could i have done and how much would i expect to pay for this

My teeth are overcrowded what is the best treatment option out of braces, dentures or implants?

Wednesday, August 31st, 2011
Q.

I am 31 years old. I havecrowded teeth. That I have been embarassed of most of my life. They are hard to clean and painful when I eat and they ache sometimes. Are dentures a good option for me? I can’t really afford braces. I was thinking dentures would be a quick, less expensive fix. I’ve been reading about the implants that allow the dentures to snap into place for a better fit and I think that sounds like a good option. Are these a good idea? How long do dentures typically last before a replacement is needed? Please any advice would be appreciated.

Will zirconia dental implants look the most natural?

Thursday, August 25th, 2011
Q.

I am having implants as I have lost teeth in both my upper and lower level and now my crowns & bridges on my upper level are all failing. I would like to have a natural look, if possible, not poker straight or Hollywood white but just natural. I was told that Zirconia would be better for that look than Porcelain – is that true. Is it possible to get a natural look with implants atall or will they always look somewhat false? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I hate my dentures, what is the cost of dental implants?

Thursday, August 18th, 2011
Q.

I have lost all of my bottom teeth and most of my uppers due to dental disease. I have had a new bottom denture made and fitted. The appearance is not as I expected it to be, nothing like my original teeth and my mouth doesn’t close in the same way it used to

The only way they will stay in is with dental glue but that is useless when eating as the whole denture comes out out, they are also ugly and not natural to the way my mouth closes.

The upper dentures need to be done soon but I am so dissappointed with the result of the bottom set, what’s the point? I can’t eat out any more, I can’t even enjoy a meal at home. Fruit, like apples, pears, even plums are completely out of the question now.

I am a pensioner, just how much will it cost to have a denture implant done. I hear so many stories, so many different prices quoted.

I can’t believe the NHS don’t help in this respect. It is not just cosmetic, teeth are for eating with after all!

I know how expensive implants can be but how much exactly, I have heard lots of prices quoted. I am a pensioner but the way I look is still important and more important still I like to eat!

I need implants to replace my missing teeth, but I am worried about the cost

Thursday, August 18th, 2011
Q.

Hi,
I’ve been researching dental implants and I’d love to be able to get them. I have bad teeth, partly because I haven’t looked after them enough and also due to a psychological disorder (dismorphophobia caused me to brush my teeth 20 – 40 times per day in my teens/early 20′s).

Also, when I was very young, I had an accident causing the top front 4 teeth to crack and have had crowns since around age 10 – the dysmorphophobia condition stems from this.

These 4 teeth and 2 others next to the canine on the left side of the upper jaw are where I’d like implants (as soon as possible, I’d like more on the other side of the same row later).

My main question is about the cost – can the 4 teeth be replaced with 2 implants, with the other 2 teeth replaced with 1 implant along with bridges?

I don’t have good credit, so will be taking out an expensive loan to pay for the treatment, so I’d like to know if the above proposal is a reasonable request (rather than 1 implant per tooth), and one which would be a lasting solution.

Many thanks for your time.

Can my gums be reshaped after I have received my dental implants?

Monday, July 11th, 2011
Q.

Hi, I have had tatum implant surgery for two missing teeth. Both gaps are at the top front row and I am due to have the abutments fitted ready for crowns. Where the implants have been fixed into position my gum line has taken it’s own form and shape. Once the crowns are fitted I will be left with gaps where the gum once naturally protruded into a point between each tooth. My question is, can gum be taken from other arears of the gum and applied to existing gum so it acts as a filler then reshapen in order to create a better visual apperance to both the tooth and gum line?

My baby tooth is coming loose and there isn’t an adult tooth underneath it.

Monday, July 11th, 2011
Q.

I was born without a canine adult tooth and my baby one is coming very loose now i’m nineteen. Soon i’ll have to get a replacement, I was wondering how expensive this would be and is there anything that covers not being born without an adult tooth?? My parents think it’ll cost thousands and refuse to pay for it and I cant afford the implant myself. I’ve read abit about bridges too but it says they wouldnt help prevent bone loss. What would be the best thing for me to do?
