I Want To Replace An Existing Tooth With A Silver One. Do You Have Any Idea How Much This Will Be?

Monday, July 7th, 2014
Q.

Hello Andrew. I hope you can help me. I would like to know how much would it cost for a silver tooth? I would like it to replace one of my existing teeth. And also how much would it cost for a silver tooth cap? Could you tell me whether this procedure takes a long time? Can you please get back to me with the prices? I hope to hear from you very soon. Thank you very much. I look forward to hearing your reply.

My Teeth Are Pointy. Is There Any Way I Can Get Them Reshaped Using Crowns?

Friday, July 4th, 2014
Q.

Hello there Dr Moore. I hope you can help me out. I have quite pointy teeth (canines) and I sometimes I hurt myself when I accidentally bite the inside of my cheek. I’ve been researching a few treatments on-line but I’d like more information on treatments which could help me. Do you know if there any way pointy teeth can be crowned or re-shaped? How much would this cost and which treatment would be least invasive? Thank you for your time and I look forward to hearing your reply.

I Grind My Teeth And Have Had Some Sensitivity. Do You Know What Treatment I Could Have To Fix This?

Thursday, July 3rd, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Moore. I recently got a new crown (second last back tooth lower on the right) it cost me quite a bit and it is super sensitive to hot/cold. I’m 56 years old and I have been prepared for another crown. I do grind my teeth and I have had sensitivity problems for quite a while with various teeth and some near the new crowns. I’ve been to a dental hospital but they dropped me as they said I would find cheaper treatment elsewhere. Do you know what I could do to find this cheaper treatment? Thank you for taking the time to listen to my problem.

Is It Possible For Me To Have A Crown Fitted? I’ve Had Health Issues In The Past And I’m Worried My Crowns Aren’t Secure.

Wednesday, July 2nd, 2014
Q.

Hi Dr Hughes. I hope you can help me out. I have two top front teeth that are caps with studs. Is it possible for me to have a crown fitted? Also what would the average cost be? I have had an heart operation 3 years ago and was ill for some time. My dentist will not see me now as I did not keep up my 6 month checks but told them I was very ill and off work for over 6 month. My crowns are not secure and I’m worried about the health side of things. Thank you for your reply in advance.

My Dentist Has Said A Plastic Crown Can Last Between 5 And 10 Years. Does This Sound Reasonable?

Wednesday, July 2nd, 2014
Q.

My question is about using a plastic crown as a permanent solution for a cracked tooth. I have an upper left tooth (#26) that has had a root canal and recently cracked from the surface down into the root. The dentist has said that because the root is cracked they can’t put a post in, and because of that they can’t use a porcelain crown. So far he has cemented the crack, prepared the tooth, and taken imprints to make a plastic crown. He said the plastic crown should last about 5 to 10 years. Everything I’ve read only mentions plastic crowns for very short term use. Does this sound like a reasonable treatment?

I Have Had A Root Canal On A Crowned Tooth. Would It Be Possible To Get A Bridge For Two Teeth Or Would I Need Dental Implants?

Tuesday, July 1st, 2014
Q.

Hi Mark, I have been to the dentist and been told I need to have a root canal on a crown I had years ago which has never worked and he is not sure how much tooth is left, also the tooth next to it is not in a great condition, the top is completely crumbled but he might be able to save it to crown. The cost is too much to have the work done on both so my other option is to have them both out. Not sure what to do other than that though. Would I be able to get a bridge for two teeth or would I need to get implants? Also how much money would that be?
Thank you.

How Can I Achieve A Hollywood Smile Without Breaking The Bank?

Tuesday, July 1st, 2014
Q.

Hello there Dr Moore. My sister had duraphat toothpaste from her dentist recently and she said it’s really made her teeth whiter. I have crowns and caps on the front of my teeth and I was wondering if I could use duraphat on my capped teeth. I love my teeth but I can’t afford to have new veneers like the Hollywood smile. I do look after my teeth and gums thank you. I would be very grateful if you could advise me on how to achieve the Hollywood smile without too much expense.

I Want To Know If I’m Paying To Much For My Porcelain Crowns. Can You Help Me?

Monday, June 30th, 2014
Q.

Hello Andrew. I paid £1270 for two porcelain crowns. Is that about right or did I pay too much for them?

Also I need deep cleaning and the dentist told me that it is going to cost me £235.00 and that is not including the medication that I need for my teeth.

I have an appointment in two weeks and I would really like to know before I go so I will not be surprised on the price they will give me. Should I have a look elsewhere as this seems a little excessive to me. Thank you.

Should My Dentist Attempt To Whiten My Tooth Prior To Fitting My Crown. Is This Something You Could Help Me With?

Thursday, June 26th, 2014
Q.

Hi Mark. I noticed a reply you made concerning internal whitening and wondered whether you’d be able to offer me some advice please? I’ve had a porcelain fused to metal crown replaced by a porcelain crown on my front tooth. Unfortunately what’s left of my tooth underneath is almost black and shows through the crown and gum itself. I was really disappointed by this as whilst the crown itself is better it’s more blue than the previous one. I’ve read some comments online that perhaps my dentist could have attempted to internally whiten my tooth prior to fitting the crown and/or tried masking the tooth. My question is; can this be done now that the crown has been fitted or would this require my crown to be replaced? I assume that removing my current crown would ruin it and so I would need a whole new one if that was the case? Also, is this something you could help me with at your practice? As I fear that my general dental practice (whilst very good) may lack the expertise to help me on this one.

Any guidance would be hugely appreciated! 🙂

Thank you.

Could You Tell Me Which Crowns Are Stronger: Gold Or Porcelain?

Wednesday, June 25th, 2014
Q.

Hello Andrew, I’d like your advice. I was wondering if you could please tell me if gold crowns are stronger than porcelain ones and is it possible to request them with an NHS dentist? I have been told by a private dentist that gold would be best but they are very expensive. I have large fillings in my back molar teeth already and they do need crowning and I don’t mind them being gold if that is the strongest material to use as I don’t think they will affect my smile. Do you think they would have an effect on how my smile would look? Thank you in advance for your reply.
