I need to replace my bridge for 3 teeth

Sunday, June 29th, 2008
Q.
Hello Dr Suri I’ve had a bridge at the lower rear left side of my mouth for many years and it needs replacing. It covers the area of 3 teeth. I have changed dentist who is recommending instead of having a new bridge,to have two crowns and a dental implant for the missing tooth in the middle. Is this the way forward?! Which do you consider to be the best option? I’m healthy in my mid-30\s.

I have gum sensitivity with dental crowns

Saturday, June 28th, 2008
Q.
I appear to have some gum issues/sensitivity in relation to six
crowns
i have had fitted 4 years ago (replaced due to containing metal) to conceal tetracycline unsightly staining. What kind of dentist could assist me with a new set of crowns which might be biocompatible and kind to
gums. Also…is it possible to develop breathing problems from a recently discovered
tooth abscess. I am 43 and urgently need a good dentist conversant with the latest dental technologies.

Saturday, June 28th, 2008
Q.
I have a metal post and crown on one of my front teeth, my 2 front teeth are slightly pertruding and the teeth behind them are slightly behind the front teeth. My dentist says a brace will not work due to the metal post. I would love straight teeth? An advice?

I chipped my front tooth and several crowns have fallen off the stump

Saturday, June 28th, 2008
Q.
Hi there, I chipped my front tooth some years ago and after various crowns falling off the ‘stump’ that was left, the stump rotted completely and was removed. It was replaced with a metal rod to which a crown veneer (?) is now attached. I am happy with the appearance of the tooth but the gum above the tooth has got progressively more discoloured over the years. I am concerned about this as I haven’t heard that this is normal and it is understandably bothering me as it is my front tooth and so visible to others. My NHS dentist informed me that the grey was in fact the top of the metal peg showing but I’m not sure if I believe this as the gum actually looks grey. Furthermore, i’m sure that it has changed colour- going from a pale grey to a darker grey over the past few years. My dentist also informed me that I was being too aggressve with my teeth brushing and that the reason you could see grey was because I had brushed the gum back and that I should stick to a more gentle, circular cleaning motion in order to reshape the gum. I tried this over a period of several months- in fact I am still following his advice, but I can see no change. I want to know whether this is a problem you have encountered before? And if there would be any cosmetic dentistry service available to remedy it?

My crown doesn’t fit its too high

Saturday, June 28th, 2008
Q.
I was wearing a temp crown that fitted perfectly for 3 weeks. Tooth third in from the back lower left incl wisdom. Yesterday my dentist fitted my permanent crown which I told him felt very high, I had no bite contact on the opposite side at all. He told me that it can take up to 4 months for the tooth to ‘bed in’!?. Also, when I got home I noticed that on the outside the crown sits snugly into the gum but on the inside it is way short, 2mm off the gum and one can see an unsightly black line around the base as well as being able to feel a ridge where the crown ends. I have left a message for the dentist to call me which he is doing tomorrow. Is my crown a mal fitting one and should I inside that it is re made please.
