I’m Not Sure What My Dentist Suggested Is Right For Me, What Do You Think?

Tuesday, July 16th, 2013
Q.

Hi, I wondered if you could advise me with something? My front four teeth need new cosmetic work done, I have three posts and crowns and one crown, all in the front. The problem is for years they have been put in singular and the posts always come loose. My dentist is suggesting redoing and this time connected either all 4, or 2 each depending on root. What is the benefits and is this the best answer? I should say I also have a cross bite. Another dentist suggested invisalign, but I am 45 and really my teeth arent crooked except there for the cross bite teeth, 2 of them. one on the bottom and top. Also will I be ok without being able to floss connected teeth? Thanks for your help.

Is It Worth Having My Front Teeth Crowned At The Age Of 75?

Monday, July 15th, 2013
Q.

Hi, I was wondering if you’d be kind enough to offer some advice? My 4 front teeth are quite discoloured, grey looking and I would like to have them capped but I know this is very expensive. I am 75 and wonder if it would really be worth it! Also I am very worried about the pain that the injection for the anesthetic would cause as basically I am a coward with a fear of needles. My second tooth upper right is allready capped and has badly dicoloured over the years so that now it is a deep cream colour and badly shows up the grey teeth. Can you advise as to cost and whether I should have the treatment? I just want it fixing so I can smile properly again, I don’t think age should be a factor in this but I’m not sure. Thanks for your time.

I Don’t Want A Silver Metal Crown, What Are My Other Options?

Wednesday, July 3rd, 2013
Q.

Hi I wondered if you could please help me? I’m having great difficulty getting the right information from my dentist.  Here’s my current scenario: I am an Unemployed NHS patient needing full crown treatment on my bottom molar. I have been advised that a metal crown is best for my particular situation but I really don’t want a big dark blob showing in all my photos. Is there a very light coloured metal crown that I can use that won’t darken to any extent over time so that its not too noticeable?? and how much is this type of treatment likely to charge me? I understand it’s more of a cosmetic treatment but I don’t want a dark one, they look awful and you can really see them when smiling. Thanks for your help in advance. Kind regards

I Grind My Teeth Which Is Causing Problems For My Crowns, Please Help!

Monday, July 1st, 2013
Q.

Hi, I wondered if you could help me with a dental matter please? I had my front 4 top teeth crowned some 19 years ago to improve the appearance. (my teeth were off centre as they had move to fill up a gap). They have never really felt comfortable even after all these years I am aware that they are crowned. I do not know if this is caused by the fact that they are quite ‘built up’ on the back whcih the dentist said was to make them strong. Or if it is because my bottom teeth lean back so top and botton do not rest on each other. I have the urge to bite teeth together for no reason which only causes discomfort. What are my options to improve this situation? I don’t know what to do…Thank you for any help. Regards.

My Crown Regularly Falls Off, What Kind Of Treatment Can Replace This?

Thursday, June 27th, 2013
Q.

Hi, I wondered if you could please advise me with something? My two front teeth have two crows on them one of the crowns regularly comes off and I have to go and get it glued back on from the dentist. My dentist has advised me that the post to which it is attached is too short and hence why it keeps coming off and loosening. He has recommended I have an implant put in however this is a costly process and one which I can not afford too easily at the moment, obviously I don’t want to be toothless. Are there any alternative treatments that I would be able to go ahead with in this situation? I wouldn’t mind another implant, as I said I’m slightly worried about the cost of it all.Thank you for your help in advance.

I can feel a pulse around my crowned tooth and gums. Can you advise?

Wednesday, March 20th, 2013
Q.

I have a crown that is 5yrs old… recently have had uncomfortable feeling around the tooth. Its not really painful but can feel a pulse around the tooth and gums. Seen dentist and had x ray… said it was just that I am grinding and bite needed adjusting. had teeth cleaned and polished and was on anti biotics incase of infection. but still feels uncomfortable… can you help please

There is not enough pain to be that worried but cannot be right that I can feel pulse all the time. There is no or very little bleeding around the tooth, but when I tap the crown, it does feel uncomfortable, but not excessively painful.

I have 3 crowns all together on left side upper mouth, also have 1 same side lower mouth.

thanks

Should I be billed for crown replacement and will it be noticeable to people?

Friday, January 4th, 2013
Q.

I have had a crown since I was 19 (now 34). The one done at 19yrs chipped a few years back and recently I opted to have it replaced.

Question #1 – Should be billed as a new crown or as a crown replacement?

Question #2 – This is the most important question for me. Should the lay person…or any person…be able to look at my smile and determine which tooth is the crown? Thereis some discoloration at the gum line which I understand. Though with this new crown in certain light the crown looks like a perfect match for color and translucency. However, in other lights it stands out. It appears whiter and also reflects light differently, as if it is more solid than my natural teeth. I don’t recall my previous crown doing this and I am wondering if my dentist gave me the best the industry has to offer. Also, the tooth as a bit of mobility …very little and only when I press on it with my lower jaw (crown is front center tooth). They put in a post a recently as well. Any advice would be appreciated. This dentist has been working on this for 5 months and never quite got it right, so recently they brought in the lab tech to color it and perm afix, but I am not sure it is the best it can be and I am not sure I should keep trusting this dentist.
