I Need Veneers To Match Up With My Bridge. What Kind Of Upkeep Do Veneers Need?

Tuesday, November 26th, 2013
Q.

I have a bridge as I broke my two front teeth when I was 10 years old if I wanted veneers what would I do about my front teeth so all my teeth look the same. What price would I be looking at for a full set of veneers. How many visits would I need? Also my bridge is nothing like my teeth were so how would I be able to get a perfect smile? What kind of upkeep do I need for veneers? Do I just brush them as my normal teeth?

I’ve Been Thinking About Getting A Bridge For The Gap In My Teeth. How Much Would It Cost For The Dentures?

Thursday, November 14th, 2013
Q.

Hello there, Dr Hughes. I had a tooth knocked out a few years ago and have been happy with the gap but now I’ve been thinking about getting it replaced, I was thinking about getting a bridge, but I heard that if I want it in gold I would have to have the whole bridge made with gold, that’s too much gold for my tastes. So I’m thinking about getting a couple of dentures, a white one and a gold one for special occasions. How much roughly would it cost for the tooth on the partial denture to be made of gold? Thanks in advance.

Should I Listen To My Dentist And Opt For The Adhesive Dental Bridge?

Wednesday, July 24th, 2013
Q.

Hi doctor Butt, I had to have front crown removed after 13years because of fracture. My dentist has offered a sticky bridge on nhs or 600pounds private. It is the tooth right next to front tooth, i’ve always took care of my teeth and dentist said I have good oral hygiene, could you tell me if nhs bridge is ok. Should I save for private, is there a big difference in appearance. Will I be able to see the metal on nhs at the back of tooth, and will my Eye tooth which will be filed down, be very badly damaged. I have had tooth out now for over2months and have a temporary plate with tooth on, and I am not coping very well with it, in fact I’ve lost 10lbs because I am feeling sick all the time with this thing in my mouth and I have stopped eating out in restaurants as I don’t enjoy my food with it in.I’m 59 years oldThank you

I Had Private Dental Bridge Treatment 25 Years Ago, Can I Have It Replaced Through The NHS?

Tuesday, June 18th, 2013
Q.

Hi Doctor Moore, I have had a dental bridge for 25 years replacing six of my top teeth in all, 2 of my front teeth are missing and the bridge is supported by 2 other teeth on either side and 2 fake teeth in the centre. I am very lucky that the bridge has lasted so long but I feel that it is coming to the end of its life. I can’t afford the almost £3000 it will cost to replace (it cost me £600 private 25 years ago) so what will be my alternative? Can I get a NHS bridge to replace the one I had done privately? I don’t know what else I can do, I simply cannot afford the £3000 in one go, unless some sort of funding arrangement or finance scheme can be arranged. Thank you ever so much for any advice you can give to me, I’m at a loss now.

Would A ‘Snap-on Smile’ Cover Up My Bad Front Teeth Until I Get Over My Fear Of Needles?

Wednesday, May 15th, 2013
Q.

Hi I was just enquiring about the snap on smile, my front teeth are horrible I’ve been told I need several teeth removed and a flipper installed but I am incredibly scared of needles and the work needed and can’t bring myself to get it done I am however tired of the you need the dentist mate comments and what it’s doing to my confidence i was wondering weather a snap on smile would be a way of covering them getting my confidence back and cover them till I can get the courage up to do something about them? Or is there anything else you could suggest that would help me for now? I just need something  temporary until I can find away of getting over my fear of needles. Thank you very much for your time.

Can I Apply For Funding To Replace My Lost Implant Bridge?

Monday, April 22nd, 2013
Q.

Hello Dr, I am in somewhat of an incredulous position.

I have lost my implant bridge.

I had 3 implants 4 teeth fitted in Jan 2012. Looked fantastic.

In the interim i had relocated away from where i had the implants done.

My bridge had become loose in Feb this year and as i hadn’t registered with a local dentist i used some dental fixative cream as an interim measure.

I went to bed one night and in the morning woke to find my bridge gone??

I looked throughout my flat; absolutely everywhere, I checked and rechecked my bedding; i went to hospital and was x-rayed and metal detected, as i thought i may have swallowed them; nothing found.

I have searched and re-searched my flat.

I am currently unemployed and claiming Income Support; i have no funds to replace my bridge.

I have visited an NHS dentist and they recommend i remove the support posts and have a 4 tooth plate. I am finding this hard to accept after paying nearly £10,000 for the implants.

Is there anyway of applying for funds to have this done?

Surely the cost difference for a bridge against removing the posts and fitting a plate is marginal?

I would appreciate any advice you could give me.

Thanks

My Treatment Is Failing And Still Costing Me A Lot Of Money, What Can I Do?

Tuesday, April 2nd, 2013
Q.

Hi I have had bridge made on to 1 front and tooth next to it, also as eye tooth at the other side, it is all on one if you know what I mean, I had a partial denture before and wanted a nice smile. I was then to get 2 implants, which went in and I had terrible pain. My dentist’s father died and she went to Cyprus for a week or so. At this point she had her husband X-ray my mouth several times, there was no infection and I was given antibiotics twice still had pain, eventually the pain died down and the two implants were slipping out. The implants were put in on the 18th Dec, two years ago bone graft was also done, however I went on holiday 3 Jan when I returned I called and asked if I was supposed to see them, returned to dentist she took them out, told me maybe one would have rejected but 2 she could not understand, I was left with just the bridge on 3 teeth but she did say the teeth were secure, 2 of my teeth started to go black and I went back last may as I was getting married, my own dentist said I needed root treatment had this done on the front tooth but she could not find the canal on the other one, she did first part and went on holiday and another dentist did bleaching, was not happy with it so he did it again, now my teeth move and my dentist says I need to have a full upper denture on 6 implants after me paying £460 per tooth before, I also had all my bottom teeth done they are okay, but she says I will need to pay another £7.500 for this, can she do this, I did say I was unhappy about this but that is what I have to pay. I paid £1000 toward implant at time and contract said i would only pay £292 for bone graft if implant didn’t take and had no refund on this but paid a lot of money to her, I am so upset and do not have any more money to pay for a denture, Can she do this to me?.
Kind regards.

My Bridge is Affecting A Nearby Filled Tooth, What Can Be Done?

Friday, March 15th, 2013
Q.

hi there, i have recently been fitted with a maryland bridge just (3rd from the last tooth at the upper back). The tooth was missing for over 20 years so i have suffered from quite severe gum recession in this area. the tooth next to the bridge has a large filling and since the bridge, I have had nothing but pain, sensitivity and more pain. It is not even like I can pin an exact cause or anything either because the pain comes with pretty much everything in my day to day life. So like it will come with pressure, with any food or drink that is hot, cold, warm, anything that contains even a little bit of sugar, it’s everything. I’ve been back 6 times and the filling changed but this has made no difference. Should I ask for the bridge to be removed?

Can bridge be done sooner as wearing dentures affects my talking too much?

Friday, December 21st, 2012
Q.

hi there. 5 of my front upper teeth are crowns, they have knocked and kicked through sport for years. i’m 40 now and the front right socket in my gum that the spike part used to be stuck back into was fractured and has had to be extracted. my dentist is now going to bridge but has said this will take 6 months to heal. my question is can this be done sooner as I own a pub and find it so difficult talking to customers with this plastic denture in my mouth. sorry for the long winded story. thanks
