My dentist says I can only have a temporary bridge if I pay for a permanent one too! What should I do?

Friday, September 3rd, 2010
Q.
im 27 and had to have my front tooth removed! my dentist made me a plate that does not fit my mouth and is making me physically sick, as i had to use fixodent to keep it in, so i can not wear it. but refuses to fit me with a temporary bridge. i am exempt from paying but even offered to pay for temp bridge and he replied that he is not doing it unless i then pay for permanent bridge also! so i am left with no front tooth!,

The bridge is digging into my gums, what can I do about this?

Friday, September 3rd, 2010
Q.
I had a front lower bridge fitted two months ago three teeth being extracted and the bridge being fixed to two healthy teeth one side and one healthy tooth the other. The side where the two healthy teeth were involved is fine but the other side feels as if the bridge is digging into my gum, It’s not particularly painful but uncomfortable.,

What is the best option to move or replace a tooth? Should I go for an implant or a bridge?

Thursday, September 2nd, 2010
Q.
Hello, I fell off my bike as a child when my adult teeth were very new and smacked my left front tooth – the root had not finished developing and the tooth subsequently died and discoloured. I had a root canal and a crown placed on it as an adult but I think my teeth have since moved a bit and it sticks out now at the front and has been borderline wobbly for years. I am wondering whether there is any point in getting braces (for the 3rd time! At 38!) to move a dead root or should I go for an implant or a bridge (am worried there might not be enough room for another tooth the same size as my existing front tooth). Having had all 4 wisdom teeth out in one go and two lots of braces I must admit to not being so fond of dentists so the least painful option is always going to be appreciated! I should also admit that I live on island in the Maldives so I can’t get to the dentist often…. does this rule out braces completely? Apologies for the novel, hope you can point me in the right direction! Thank you for your help,

I have been left with temporary fittings after a finance problem. I was thinking about finishing the work abroad, but I’d appreciate your advice?

Thursday, September 2nd, 2010
Q.
Hello, i’m looking for some advice. Over a year ago i was given treatment to my six front teeth which after an accident left me with a tooth missing and the rest badly damaged. I was treat privately and given temporary crowns and some bridge work was carried out. Unfortunately the finance for the treatment didnt go through and so the dentist could not finish the work. I’ve been left with a temporary fitting and have been told the NHS cant fund the rest of the treatment because its classed as cosmetic dentistry. Unfortunately i’ve recently become unemployed and cant afford for the rest of the work to be carried out privately. I’ve been researching having the work done abroad at a lower cost but am unsure where to look. I’m not sure if i’m asking the right person but any advice would be much appreciated. I’m unsure how long the temporary crowns will last and worry because they bleed alot when brushing. I have a breakdown of the work that was to be carried out but i need to speak to someone who can tell me exactly what it could cost. Kind Regards.,

Could I have a dental bridge instead of having to have dental implants?

Thursday, September 2nd, 2010
Q.
Hello there, I have unfortunately lost two teeth (upper left) second and third from the end. Both teeth had crowns in them and broke within weeks of eachother. I did not see my usual dentist for the removal of the broken second crown and have an appointment next week. I have been advised by the emergency dentist that the root will need to be removed at hospital. When the first crown broke my dentist referred me to an implant specialist, which I know will be very costly. Could I not have a bridge instead? the 4th tooth in is perfectly good and healthy but the 1st tooth at the end broke around 1 year ago and has a large filling. Welcome your thoughts on what I can do. Thanks,

What can I do if I am not happy with my bridge?

Tuesday, August 31st, 2010
Q.
I had my bridge done for front teeth i.e. 3 on right and 3 on left side, a few months back but I am not comfortable with it at all as 1) doesnt look beautiful 2) difficulty in speach Actually the natural teeth on the front were a bit bigger than the side ones but the dentist did not care for that and instead made all in one shape which doesnt look natural at all rather are not even visible when I talk with great difficulty.,
