My crown has fallen out and after visiting a dentist I was told that my root filling is not all the way to the end of the root.
The root filling and crown were fited about 20 years ago. I have had no pain from the tooth. The dentist tried to drill out the old root filling but told me it was not possible to do so as the ‘cement’ is too hard to drill through.
She doesnt want to put a new crown on top. (Actually I also still have the old crown which she also doesnt want to stick back in). Instead she has recomended that I have a bridge, but I am not keen on damaging healthy teeth on either side.
I am totally confused and considering a second opinion when I came accross this website.
Is it so bad to have a root filling not to the end. I have not ever had any pain from this tooth since the crown was fitted all those years ago.
What can you recomend?
Many thanks in advance.

I have heard of a person (dentist) who has had 4 front teeth missing and has had these bridged. She was unfortunately born with a cleft pallet. Can you please advise me? Alternately I would have to look into implants which is going to be costlly and painfull, and also time consuming because I was hoping to get this work done in Turkey.

                                Good evening,
I am hoping you may be able to offer me some advice.
I have a son who is 29. He had two teeth removed last summer. The two directly to the left of his front teeth. They had turned a little black and he had repeated absycess behind them. He kept asking his dentist what they could do with them and eventually they told him that they could only remove them and make a plate, which he agreed to as they looked quite bad.
Anyway, he has had repeated problems with the plate from making his mouth really sore to slipping when eating etc. He has been back and they told him that it was done too soon and that he would have to pay for another one. His argument is that he had it done when they told him to, and they are saying that it was too swollen and shouldn’t of been done. They are reluctant to make him a new one and have tried to tweek it with filling but it still fits badly and cuts his mouth. they have also now said that it will never sit right as it only has teeth on one side so there is nothing to secure it.
He is devastated and has stopped going out apart from work, and has now not been out for nearly 8 months.
I feel so bad for him. I know he would like implants but I think they are out of our pocket. What do you think would be the best course to take and what would be the most affordable route ?
We live in Devon, and dentists are very hard to get and I don’t know of any really good ones. None that have been recommended anyway.
I would appreciate yor opinion

I had two lava bridges placed on my front teeth earlier this year because I was missing a tooth on either side (they never grew in). The bridge on the left side looks perfect but the one on the right has started to look slightly grey. I am very careful about taking care of my teeth everyday. What would cause this and can it be corrected? The other thing I have noticed since the bridge on the right was placed is that it doesn’t feel like it is on the tooth right. I can feel a small part of my tooth between the bridge and my gum line. Could this be the cause?

I have yellow stained and cracked teeth from a childhood of candy and soda pop, and now I am 28 years old and eating has become a worst nightmare for me. As I eat I feel little segments of my teeth while I am chewing as if I am eating glass. I have already had 4 extractions- because I am on public aid but I am wondering isn’t there a way I could get my teeth shaven down and then fitted with a fixed dental bridge? I have watched tons of bridge videos and I am just wondering if it could be done or in the missing spaces in my mouth couldn’t I get a mini implant in there and then the fixed bridge added or is it too much work to handle doing it this way? If you have any ideas on what I can do please feel free to let me know. thank you for your time

Hello Doctor, I have a question I hope you can help with.

My daughter had her teeth adjusted by an orthodontist because some of her teeth never came in. The adjustment left a gap in her front teeth that the her dentist filled with a bonded bridge. The bridge has now fallen out 3 times over the past 4 months. Although the dentist has thus far reattached it without charge, I am sure it won’t continue and could not afford to continually have it reattached. Is this normal or should I be looking for another dentist?
