Q. I have a lot of problems going on in my mouth. First off I have a gap becaue I am missing my two teeth on either side next to my canine. My canine’s have moved in the place where those two teeth should have been. Apperently I was not born with them. Near my canine tooth is my old baby canine tooth that never fell whch is loose on the left side. Then on my bottom right I had a tooth removed because it was cracked. What is your advice to fix my teeth?

A. A combination of veneers and implants works well for this type of treatment. If you would like me to take a look for you please call the practice on 01245 268 494

Q. i have two large front teeth and absolutely detest them. its giving me really low self esteem and i would really like to do something about them. What are my options and honestly how much will this kind of treatment cost? My two front teeth are longer than my “wedding finger nail” (short) just to give you a rough idea. im getting increasingly depressed about it what can i do?

A. The cost depends on what you have done. If they need veneers this will normally cost from around £500 per tooth. If the teeth need removal then you could be looking at £500 for a small denture or £4000 for fixed implant supported crowns.

Q. Hi Dr Moore,I would like to ask you what I can do in my situation.I start a full mouths restauration last year,I already pay 10 .000 pounds .all the extraction been done, manage to have 6 implants on my upper jaw as well; still have four off mynteeths on upper jaw who need crowns,on my lower jaw just four teeths on the front. Now my circumstances change,I m on benefit I have a Hc2 certificate wich is not seems to help me much.I am stuck in the midle with a temporarty bridge wich is not even done properly because my dentist not pay any interes any more.My dentist even sugest to have the implants extracted and have ba denture instead wich I think is ridiculos.Anyway what I want to ask is if I have any chance to finish the work with a private dentist and pay the diference for the abutments for example.

A. I’m sure you would be able to find someone who will be happy to finish the work for you. It would be very useful for them to know the type and sizes of implants used so the correct components can be ordered. Unfortunatley none of this treatment is available on the NHS so your NC2 cert isn’t any use. Let me know if you’d like me to take a look Regards
Andrew

Q. Good afternoon,I have just visited a dentist who says that I need root canal surgery, and prescribed antibiotics because of an abcess.I had an upper bridge 10 teeth fitted 5yrs ago, though not by him, and have been told that I am about to lose all of my teeth, plus the bridge. I am at my wits end. I will not contemplate dentures, and need advise on implants. Please help

A. Options for replacing mising teeth are
1. bridges
2. dentures
3. implants.

Implants are a great way of replacing missing teeth. My advice would be to see an experienced implant dentist to provide you options.

Q. over the last few years i have had endless fillings and 4 extractions. my dentist told me i may have rapid caries. currently 14 of my teeth are filled, with one from each side top and bottom missing, all 4 wisdom teeth are ruptured and are growing in awkward shapes and hurt the inside of my mouth and cheeks. i’m only 22 and feel my teeth are so unsightly i am ashamed to smile. i try my best to take care of them but when problems continue to arise it really knocks my confidence. i’m considering cosmetic treatment but don’t know where to start and i’m a very nervous patient so feel fear talking to dentists about procedures. i just wish i could start over with my teeth but understand thats just not possible. i am writing really just to see what treatments are available and what costs i will need to pay. thanks for taking the time to read my question and i look forward to hearing from you.

A. Hello, the options for you are endless depending on what you would like to acheive and the budget you have. You may also want to consider sedation for the longer procedures to help with your anxiety. If you’d like me to take a look I can offer you a free consultation to give you a better idea of your options. Please call the clinic on 01245 268 494

A.

Hi
Many thanks for your question. There are usually several options for correcting tooth position and alignment. Veneers are an option especially if you are also unhappy with the shape and colour of the teeth, however this treatment usually involves removing a small amount of healthy tooth. Other options include 6 month smiles, inman aligner, and invisalign. these would all reposition the teeth but not change the shape or colour.
I hope this helps
Dr Solanki

Q. My back teeth and top back teeth are filled with silver fillings. My dentist wants to replace them all due to some decay. I have requested white ones or cerac, however, he suggests that they should be filled with the usual silver fillings because they are stronger and lasts longer. I have one back tooth which is broken in half. My dentist has suggested keeping this tooth and filling the other half with silver filling and not undertaking a cerac fitting. I am not whether I want to replace my silver fillings but, he says white fillings don’t last long and are prone to decay, and he went to a cerac demonstration and did not think much of it. This is a private dentist which specialises in cosmetic procedures. Should I seek a second opinion? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

A. Hi

Thanks for your question. I think you are on the right lines, i would suggest a second opion. Silver fillings are strong and last well but as too are the new modern composites which are bonded to the tooth and also porcelain inlays and cerec as these are created to fit the cavity exactly. Each cavity can have several options so its best to get a dental proffessional have a look and give you all the options especially if your looking to improve the apperance.
i hope this helps

A. It might work in the short term but an implant might be a better long term solution

Q. Hi, I live in York I’m 17, and I had my teeth sorted about a couple of years ago. I’ve had treatment on my teeth since I was 8, and I still wear braces now. My teeth were perfect after I had traintracks, and I was given a clear bottom retainer (which I still wear). At the time I did wonder why I wasn’t given a top one as well. He replied that if I wear the bottom one, it will keep the top ones in place. It hasn’t. I have 1 reasonably out of place, and two others slightly. I know that it doesn’t sound like much, but from having my teeth perfect, and wearing my retainer like I should have, makes me rather annoyed in a sense. I’m almost 18, and I was wondering if I now had to pay for treatment, ie retainers etc? And also, I am still in full time education, due to me having to re-sit the whole two years of my A levels, as I have been very ill, and hospitalised occasionaly. I will finish my A levels when I am 19. So would still being in full time education mean that I can still have treatment on my teeth for free? Thank you for your time, and I do not mind if you cannot fully answer my question.

A. Thanks for your questions, I would recommend you return to your clinician to discover whether they would be willing to correct your problems, due to the lack of a retainer. If they will not I do not think that you would be able to receive further treatment free of charge on the NHS, as your malocclusion may now not be severe enough to fulfil the NHS criteria for treatment. If this is the case I would recommned that you attend and Orthodontist or cosmetic dentist to discuss possible treatment options. There are systems available provately which can work in as little as six weeks. I hope this will help.
Kind Regards
Dr Kailesh Solanki
