My front teeth are becoming very thin, would Lumineers or cosmetic bonding be a good choice?

Friday, March 23rd, 2012
Q.

I am 31 years of age with a good set of teeth as I have no fillings.

However, the main problem I have is that my front two teeth are becoming very thin as my enamel has gradually reduced over time- so thin on one of my teeth that you can see through 2mm of it. I am becoming increasingly worried about chipping my front teeth whilst I eat, as they seem very weak.

I am interested in cosmetic surgery for the front two teeth. If anything I would like to strengthen and restore my natural teeth and therefore wonder whether Lumineers or cosmetic bonding would suit. Alternatively, you may know of something longer lasting and of more benefit to me.

I am situated in Lincolnshire and would like to know of a contact around the area rather than being directed to e.g. London.
Thank you

How noticeable do you think a non-porcelain crown will be?

Friday, March 23rd, 2012
Q.

Hello Mark, I have just had a consultation with my dentist for porcelain crowns and found the price to be way out of my reach. However he gave me an alternative cheaper price for non porcelain ones but said i will have a black line at the top of these crowns between the crown and the gum. How noticable do you think this will be as i don’t want to be disappointed with the end result after paying that much money. Thankyou

My adult teeth have not erupted, could I fill in the gaps with a dental bridge?

Tuesday, March 20th, 2012
Q.

Hello,
I have 2 baby teeth where my adult canine teeth should be. The adult teeth are impacted up very high. They are actually perfectly placed and not anywhere touching any nerves or disrupting any bones. I was told the best option would be to have my baby teeth extracted and have braces put on my whole mouth as well as drill up into my mouth and slowly bring my adult teeth into their proper place. I know this is the best option for me to keep my given teeth. However, I was wondering if putting in a bridge would be another available option. I do not have a lot of money or any dental insurance so this is a very costly method and I know bridges are a lot cheaper. I’m also 28 years old and I would really not like to have braces for the next 3 years of my life. My childhood/adolescent dentist swore i would never need them, which is why I am just now finding this out. I’m not sure implants would be an option because I’m not sure there is enough bone from the baby teeth. I would just like some advice on getting a bridge in place of a canine or any other cost effective options. Thank you!

Will braces help correct the gaps between my teeth, even though I am a tongue thruster?

Tuesday, March 20th, 2012
Q.

Dear Sir ,

I have huge gap between my upper and lower teeth which looks so awakward that I cannot explain .I consulted few doctors here and received mixed advises. Most of them said that I should go for Braces however few of them convinced me saying that the gaps are due to the pusing and touching tendency of my toungue , which is relatively bigger than normal.Even if I get the gaps fixed by using braces for long [eriod of time , there is no guarantee that the gaps will not come again. Kindly advise me what should be the suitable and economical treatment for my case.

Thank you in advance.

Why is the cost of cosmetic dentistry more expensive in the UK?

Thursday, March 15th, 2012
Q.

why does an implant cost 4 times the amount it does in other countries. i want a nice smile and it seems i’d need to go abroad to get it,
if it was more affordable in this country more people would have it.
i need 1 upper implant, whitning and a few other bits, my teeth are not bad but i would like to improve them.
what is my most cost effective way of getting these things done. thank you for your time doctor hughes

What is the best type of brace to close a front tooth gap?

Thursday, March 15th, 2012
Q.

Hi, I have a gap between my two front teeth but I also feel as though the rest of my teeth need to be altered as I have very small lateral incisors and a small overbite. All of these lead to me having a small lisp when I speak. This causes me to feel uncomfortable and to have lack of confidence around people. In previous years I have also been bullied for how my teeth are. I am about to start orthodontic treatment, I was just wondering what type of brace would an orthodontist usually use to treat this? thank you doctor hughes for your time on this matter

I think my wisdom teeth are moving my teeth, can I have Invisalign to correct this?

Thursday, March 15th, 2012
Q.

At the moment my wisdom teeth are coming through, as they are their pushing all my teeth forward and causing overcrowding and crookedness at the front. On a daily basis my teeth are moving. I did have braces when I was 13 but almost all the work they did is being accelerated to return my teeth to there original state. The other problem is that I can feel a small amount of swelling and have got some pain. How quickly can I be treated, everyday I don’t my teeth move more and I am simply becoming embarrassed to smile anymore. I’m basically 20 I annoyingly I think after alreadying having braces in my teens for 4 1/2 year I would like to look at invisalin. But what can I do about the movement. The retainers I was giving don’t fit and the orthodontist and my dentist are not where I live? What can I do ?
