Is there a way that I can have smile widened?

Monday, February 22nd, 2010
Q.
Hi, I am currently almost finished having orthodontic treatment, my teeth are straight but I would like a wider smile.. showing more teeth.. the roof of my mouth is narrow..is it possible to still achieve this? My braces are supposed to be coming off in a month. Also.. as your a jaw expert, my jaw is really really clicky and doesnt seem to track up and down properly, also I have a habit of clicking it in and out on one side, if I dont it feels really tight, is this bad? Im worried about getting arthritis. I have had this since I was a child.. Im now 26. Thanks ever so much for your time.,

Can I get implants done on NHS to replace uncomfortable dentures?

Monday, February 22nd, 2010
Q.
I have recently recieved dentures to fill the gaps in missing teeth but these are causing problems. They are uncomfortable to the point of painful and impair my speech. Although I have most of my front teeth left it is hard to chew food properly. As I have colitus it puts my digestive system under more pressure to digest the semi-chewed food. Because I am unemployed I am wondering if it is possible to implants done on the nhs. I would be greatful for your reply.,

What treatment can I have to replace old looking bridge?

Monday, February 22nd, 2010
Q.
Hello Dr Glaister, I have had the same bridge on my bottom front teeth for about 15 years (It’s a Maryland bridge). When I had it done it was the best thing ever and improved my confidence but now it’s really looking dated and too obvious. What I was wondering is, do you have to change a bridge after a few years? Also I would like to have this bridge removed and placed with some thing more up to date because I know cosmetic dentistry has come a long way in the last 15 years! Would dental implants be best? What would you suggest? This has bothered me for many years but I have done nothing about it but this summer I have my sisters wedding coming up and would really like to do something finally.,

Should I have to cover cost of cracked crown that looks bad?

Monday, February 22nd, 2010
Q.
Hi, I just began seeing this dentist who was going to put a porcelain crown on one of my molars. She told me to bite down to get it in place and the porcelain cracked. She told me that it is because my bite is unusually strong. I felt like I was being careful. She said the lab would cover the cost since it happened at her office but that they would only cover it once. The next crown was porcelain fused around one side of a metal crown for cosmetic purposes. She told me to bite down and I was being careful but then she said I even chipped the porcelain on that crown. She said it didnt really matter since it was metal underneath. When she tried to remove it, it took her about 20-30 minutes to remove it. She was banging and jerking all over it. She finally got it off and then cemented it in place. The fit is good but the pocelain is totally chewed up and looks bad. I was wondering if this is a common issue with crowns/dentists or if the dentist should cover the cost of a new crown since the lab won’t. I paid $1100 for the crown and it just doesnt seem ethical to leave such a chewed up crown in place.,

Can Inman Aligner lose tooth gap?

Friday, February 19th, 2010
Q.
Hello, I payed a visit to a cosmetic dentist in Bristol today for a consultation on my teeth. I have a gap in my front two teeth of 4.4mm wide. They said that the Inman Aligner maybe be able to close this. When they use the word “maybe” this puts doubts in my mind that the gap can be closed. I know you cant give me a 100% correct answer to my question without seeing my teeth, but have you experienced gaps of this size being closed using the Inman Aligner. Thanks for your help.,
