unfortunatly i took my braces off with tweezers

Monday, March 9th, 2009
Q.
Hello Dr. Suri.I had braces when i was 13(5 years ago). unfortunatly i took them off with tweezers. Many times i had wore them with many brackets that pop’d out my teeth.I also never wore aligners..i’ve notice how my face change during puberty has my motuh seem’d open even when close, and how i was very unhappy how my face seemed to sink.so last 9 months i’ve recieve my invisalign express aligners, thus my orthodontist said my teeth were in good condition, i wanted to finsh what i started. now i’m on my last set of aligners, im extremly unhappy & uncomfortable how my teeth feel and how my mouth looks as if its been pushed back. My question is if i get braces again, would it push my teeth foward or as it was? is there any other appliance that will help on this matter?

my denture is uncomfortable are there any advanced materials available

Monday, March 9th, 2009
Q.
I am 60 and have been wearing a partial denture for about 18 months. (4 teeth, upper left jaw). I found the “immediate” plastic denture uncomfortable and had it replaced by a more expensive denture with metal fixings and brace – but I find it even worse. It looks great, but I find it constantly irritating; and my lips get dry and sore. Are there any advanced materials or techniques that might help me come to terms with wearing a denture? I have investigated the possibility of implants, but I would need extensive bone grafting as I lost two of the teeth many years ago.

I have gum disease and have been to lots of sessions with the hygienist

Thursday, March 5th, 2009
Q.
Hi, I have always been frightened of the dentist through a bad experience as a child. 2 years ago I plucked up the courage and went to see a p rivate dentist who done a temp bridge but I had to have loads of sessions with the hygenist due to a problem with my gums. I had gum disease which my mother also had so I think it is something hereditory. After months and months of treatemnt with the hygenist I couldn’t afford to keep going and my gums were getting better but if I stopped going to the hygenist it would come back no matter how much I followed her instructions but then I had to go and work away, I am due home and will probably start treatment again but I am wondering how long should it possibly take as there is nothing that she hasn’t done and until she gives the go ahead then they wont replace the temp crown which is now getting quite discoloured. What do you think I should do as this effects my whole appearance and I am so desperate to have my front teeth sorted out.

my daughter has been wearing a brace for two years

Monday, March 2nd, 2009
Q.
Please can you give me some advice. My daughter, who will be 14 next month, has been wearing a brace (she calls a train track) for the past two years on her top teeth only. We went today to have a new retainer fitted. The brace was removed last month. At the beginning of her treatment, our orthodontist explained that he was going to fit a brace because her teeth were severely sticking out. The teeth affected were the second of her front four teeth (one on each side) and they protruded over her lip when she closed her mouth (like a vampire). However, the rest of her front teeth were still milk teeth apart from these front four. He said it was unusual for him to fit a brace to milk teeth but because my daughter was conscious of how her teeth looked he was happy for her to have the brace now. During out appointment today, our orthodontist seemed alarmed. He took an x-ray which revealed that my daughter has two teeth (one of which looked almost adult in size) growing horizontally towards each other in her gums above her front four teeth (one on each side). The orthodontist said these should have come down somewhere near the sides of her mouth (though I cannot see any room left where this teeth would have come down). He has asked us to come back tomorrow and said that we will need to see a consultant at a hospital. We are very worried. 1) Could this be due to the fact that the brace was fitted to milk teeth? 2) Should the orthodontist have picked this up earlier during our two years of treatment? 3) What should we expect to happen next? Thank you in advance for your advice.

my right front tooth has become discoloured

Monday, February 23rd, 2009
Q.
Hello, my right front tooth has over the years has become darker in colour and quite sensitive, I’m guessing its rotting as the enamel is crack . It is sensitive to brushing and cold drinks. What would be the best option to fix the tooth, my other teeth aren’t the greatest either but no where near as bad. I know teeth are important but fixing them are very expensive and money is not available, basically I want to be able to smile confidently without spending alot of money. Thanks for reading.

recently my teeth have started to weaken

Thursday, February 19th, 2009
Q.
Hello Komal, I’ve never been very happy with my teeth. I’m only 24 but recently they have started to weaken and I have noticed a visual apperance in them changing. I have numerious amounts of fillings and have had to have one tooth removed. This is due to lack of care of my teeth in my teenage years. Obviously I can’t repair the damage that was done but I don’t want it to get any worse. What can i do to not only improve my smile but also fix my teeth? Help please…. Kind regards

Wednesday, February 18th, 2009
Q.
Hello, I drink sugar free soya milk as I’m intolerant to cows milk but someone told me it’s really bad for teeth as it causes a lot of decay. Is this true? The type of soya milk I use is sugar free with added calcium. Also is herbal teas damaging to teeth? (eg peppermint tea) Thankyou
