I’ve been experiencing gradually worsening jaw ache since getting a filling. What should I do?

Hello. I had a dental filling done about four weeks ago and about two weeks ago I started to get and ache on that side of the jaw. It’s not an awful pain and until today (four weeks since the dental treatment) I haven’t needed pain killers. I went to the doctors two days ago and he couldn’t see anything obvious and prescribed some anti inflammatory tablets. Could this ache be related to the dental treatment? The pain is on the left side of my face and at it’s worst it feels as if the ache is spreading to left ear along the jaw.

I lost all of my teeth but don’t want dentures, what else can you recommend?

Hi I have lost all of my teeth over a couple of years ago and i am looking for a more permanent option than the dentures I have can you suggest anything? I would like not to have to remove my dentures what i am looking for is a full set of none removable teeth? I am now too used to not having teeth I find the dentures very uncomfortable. hey… i have had my brace on for near 7years now and it doing nothing for me as my teeth wont go together and my front tooth has broke with them on to for so long and i just wanna no about venners on nhs how can you get them? As i have no money to get them done as i hate smileing and there getting me down… I am so despress for them as i cant smile as all the gaps in my teeth and there near turin black :((

How can I rectify my teeth after not using my retainer?

Dear Dr Hussien,
When I was 16 I had traditional train tracks to straighten my teeth, taken off 13/14 months later. Overtime I have underused my retainer hence my teeth have slightly moved. the teeth are however still relatively close to there original positions, as I have a relatively narrow pallet, with only the 2nd lateral incisor on one side, and the 1st pre molar on both sides having moved noticeably.

Roughly speaking what type of time frame/cost would I be looking in order to rectify this?

Why won’t my dentist give me veneers?

Hi I have had two sessions at a cosmetic dentist as I was looking at having veneers fitted to cover my front two teeth. Both of these teeth have been root filled and one is very stained and slightly crooked, can veneers do the job or will I have to have crowns. The first consultation of 1/2hr advised me to make an appointment for braces, I do not want this and on my return repeated my request for veneers, after spending £200 on x-rays, moulds, my next apt is soon and I have a feeling that he will suggest crowns, I do not want to lose so much of a tooth for this though.

Can I have temporary replacements for missing teeth?

I wanted to come to city dental for treatment as I have a phobia of dentists I haven’t been to a dentist for over 9 years and my teeth are in a very bad condition. Is there any form of treatment that I could have done the same day or something temporary to cover missing teeth till the next visit? As I don’t want to leave with missing teeth. I am only 26 and I have 2 children and I am willing to pay the price I don’t want my partner to see me toothless or my kids. Thanks for your help.

Hi doctor, my problem is that as a young child I sucked my thumb and now at 24 I have a very noticeable curve at the front of my teeth . Would there be any treatments that I could haVe to get my teeth straightened out and how much would it likely cost me? I have very healthy teeth apart from this a few fillings and i have had them whitened, I take care of them because I am very aware of this curve and would just love to have a nice straight smile . hi dr shaffie. i have 18 teeth left that are very badly decayed and broken. i think i will need them all taken out and then i’ll have to have full dentures. if they get taken out would i get some kind of dentures that day till my gums heal? i have no confidence in doing anything and would like to know how long this whole process would take so i can do things i just won’t do looking like this? any other information on the process off getting full dentures would be much appreciated.

Hi Dr Hussein Shaffie. Not sure if you could help me answer my small question, I’ve chipped my two front teeth quite some time ago now about five years and I was wondering if they can be fixed? They haven’t botherd me until now as I haven’t been to the dentist for a while and I’m getting quite ashamed of them. Have I left it too late for them to be sorted? Or will I have to have them extracted? And please could you tell me a ball park figure I was thinking about Â£1000 and could you do this for me thanks doctor.
