Hello Marcus. My dentist attached my partial denture to a crown. When I pulled off the partial, the crown came with it! Is it customary or even prescribed to use a crown as an ‘anchor’ for a partial? If I had realized the anchor was a crown when preparing for the partial, I would have objected! My dentist maintains that the partial was a “temporary fix,” but would not respond to my question about using the crown as an anchor. He also said he would charge me to “glue the crown” back on so I can continue wearing the partial. There is so much decay now where the crown was, I doubt that the glue would hold; further, I still don’t think it’s a good solution. Is this ever a good idea? Do you have any suggestions for me? I can’t eat regular food now. Help!

Tuesday, July 22nd, 2014Hello Dr Gambroudes. I recently realised I have really poor teeth and wish to correct them. This is mainly due to my diet and genetics and I’ve fell into the mind set of having all of my teeth replaced with gold veneers as I only have twenty five left. This is because gold is solid and will not scratch easily. Some teeth are missing and others are damaged or rotting away. Do you have any advice on this matter? And can you help me!
I also wish to know how much the procedure will amount to and how it all works so I am in a comfortable frame of mind when entering this process.

Monday, July 21st, 2014Hello Dr Gambroudes. I had root canal treatment on my tooth one year ago and my dentist placed a ceramic cap on my tooth. But shortly afterwards it automatically came out of mouth while I was eating food. After this incident I visited another dentist, and I found that the previous dentist filled my tooth with cement instead of any permanent material or metal. This second dentist filled it with silver in my tooth after doing some proper cleaning but the next day my tooth started aching. I’m supposed to meet my dentist again soon. I Don’t Like My Temporary Veneers And I Don’t Know If My Permanent Ones Will Turn Out Okay. Will The Permanent Ones Be Bulky?
Monday, January 20th, 2014I just got 6 temporary veneers on my front teeth. I’m not happy as they all had gaps and they look so fake and bulky. They look like a denture to me or a mouth piece you wear for sports. I can barely talk and I forget about eating. I feel like a horse and look like one as well. They make me have a lot of saliva and my teeth look big and plastic. Will my permanent teeth look like this? My front teeth feel like I’m buck toothed and can’t talk very well. Is this really normal? I have already went back to the dentist after one day and they say I won’t have this issue with permanent veneers, they said it’s because I have one piece on my front teeth, I just don’t know what to believe and I’m stressed out already.

Friday, January 17th, 2014I am 27 and when I was a child I had fixed braces and because they were left on for too long they made my teeth week and when I had to get them removed as half the front enamel came off. Since then going into adult life has been an uphill struggle, I now only have 6 teeth left in my mouth and am forced to wear a denture which I find really hurting. I can’t even wear my bottle one as its too painful with this information would I be entitled to free dental implants on the NHS. Having no teeth really hurts and I wish I could do more but I feel at times I don’t want to smile cause I know my teeth are gone and I don’t have the confidence I once had. I’d really like your advice.

The treatment started with jaw enlargement, but there was not enough space for all the teeth. After the treatment the teeth on my lower progressed and started to become crowded, in addition I have a deep bite and jaw pains, as well as problems with chewing. I am 21 years old and would like to have treatment for this. The question I have is, if I am unable to carry out full payment, will there be credit opportunities available?

I’m really worried, at our last check up a few months ago the dentist told me not to worry but to be honest I can’t help but worry, although things can be done when she is older. I don’t want her or any of her friends to notice anything because she already suffers from being far too shy or too different. Could you suggest anything?

Tuesday, January 14th, 2014Hi Marcus. I have two missing incisors and when I was young an orthodontist attempted to correct this by closing the gaps with braces. About 10 years ago my NHS dentist at the time evened off the canines with white fillings to look more like incisors. I have quite a bad under-bite and feel that as I get older I don’t have enough teeth to fill out my face. My dentist here had suggested I could improve the look of my teeth by putting crowns on the premolars which have amalgam fillings and which are slightly visible when I smile. This seems an expensive way of not making a lot of difference. Because I’ve never been able to afford cosmetic dentistry I’ve never pursued any further advice but I’d like to know if there is anything I could do and what it might cost.

Monday, January 13th, 2014Is it possible for a tooth to grow inside the palate? When I was a kid a had a missing tooth (premolar) that caused a lot of disarrangement and spaces between my teeth. Now I’m 21 years old and the remaining premolar and one of my other molar are stuck together, and also there’s a hump in my palate, I think that’s the premolar that supposed to be growing through but I can’t be sure. I don’t know what to do as I don’t have enough money to go to the dentist, so please can you help me?
