Is any technique that can implant or grow bone into the gums so implants can be attached?

Monday, March 23rd, 2009
Q.
Good evening Dr.Bohara My question is concerning the lack of bone structure in a person jaw and whether their is any technique that can implant or grow bone into the gums so implants can be attached. My wife was born with a cleft palate 53 years ago and her case is quite complicated. I do not expect an easy answer to my question but would like to know if there was any hope new techniques could improve her circumstances. Her main problems has been the lack of bone in her jaw / gums which has meant that no implants could be used so new teeth could be fixed. She has to wear a plate which goes across the roof of her mouth and attaches to her good surviving teeth. She has always been terrified that if these teeth decline and the plate could not be fixed to anything she could lose the power of speech. Is there a way that bone could be grown or transported into the gums so implants can be used etc. I have heard that cryatal can be used to grow a base so bone can then be grafted onto and into the gums but have never had this confirmed. Could please inform me if there is a technique that is now possible which could improve my wifes condition I would be grateful. Regards,

Can my open bite be corrected with braces?

Monday, March 23rd, 2009
Q.
Q. hi, i had an underbite initially and the orthodontist i went to advise me that i would need oral surgery(upper jaw) as well as braces. the orthodontist gave me the option to have surgery or to have braces first to see if braces alone can resolve the problem. when i was 16 my braces came off and my teeth and bite was perfect so no need for surgery. however i am now 23 and i have a slight open-bite (0.5mm). can this be fixed with braces? my old orthodontist said no as its due to growth and i would need surgery, however another orthodontist advised me that he can fix this with invisalign. can you please advise me on what is actually true?

I have gappy teeth I am very conscious of them

Monday, March 23rd, 2009
Q.
Hi, I have very small, gappy teeth (some of which I’m told are still baby teeth!) and I am very conscious of them. I had the front top and bottom teeth built up in my early teens to close the gap but a gap has appeared again over years and the rest of my teeth are very gappy. I have spoken to various dentists about what can be done but never seem to get a concrete answer – what would you recommend? Thank you.

I have protruding front teeth which are crowns, I am considering Inman Aligner

Monday, March 23rd, 2009
Q.
Hello. I have been for some time now considering orthodontic treatment for protrusion of my upper front teeth. I have been looking at using an inman aligner. My two front teeth are crowns, attached to the small stumps filed down from my original two front teeth which I smashed. Would I still be able to have this treatment, or any other?

Is invisalign the best solution for crossbite and slightly crooked front teeth

Q.
Hello, I have a slight crossbite and my front teeth are slightly crooked. Do you think that invisalign would work for me? Or are braces my only option…?

Could you please advise me, in having porcelain veneers

Monday, March 23rd, 2009
Q.
Hi Dr Bohara, Could you please advise me, in having porcelain veneers replaced is it likely that the health of the gums would be compromised? Also does the shaving down of teeth for preps for veneers reduce the life of the teeth? I am quite a nervous patient and frightened at the thought of losing any teeth in later life. Thank you

Invisalign and orthodontic braces; What are the pros and cons of each method??

Monday, March 23rd, 2009
Q.
I’m really unhappy with my teeth as there is some overcrowding and they are not straight. I really want to get this sorted now as i am 22 yrs of age and becoming very self conscious about it. I’ve looked into invisalign and orthodontic braces but have no idea what i would be better suited to and which method would take less time to sort my teeth out. What are the pros and cons of each method??

Monday, March 23rd, 2009
Q.
Dear Dr I have an issue which has really affected my confidence and self esteem.Due to this i hate geting pics taken of myself. I actually have a very small mouth and thin upper lips and thts why when i talk , my teeth dont show at all…it seems i dont have teeth. and when i smile my lips dont stretch enough to make a proper smile, and my teeth dont show while smiling, if i really force myself, they show a little bit but then my face looks distraughted, and my nose expands alot( i already have a wide nose). People keep asking me to smile a big and teethy smile for the camera, but i just cant because no matter how much i try my teeth wont show like they do in other peoples smiles. Pls help me out with my problem and tell me if there is any solution to it. (I have inherited small lips from my father.) Thanks.
