Hello Dr Moore. I have had my teeth trimmed quite a bit due to being chipped. I now feel uncomfortable whenever I have to make a th sound. Is that due to trimming? And I just can’t remember how I used to do it. Before having them trimmed I used to make my tongue hit the back of my tongue mostly. With the shorten teeth it automatically wants to go underneath the teeth which doesn’t feel good. Do you have any tips for getting speech back after dental treatment? It’s really bugging me. Thanks.

I Had My Teeth Shortened As They Were Chipped. Now I Can’t Make Certain Sounds, Can You Help Me?
Tuesday, June 10th, 2014My Dentist Said I Need To See A Hygienist For Two Years Now I’ve Given Up Smoking. Will It Really Take That Long?
Tuesday, June 10th, 2014Hello. I have very protruding front teeth and one missing to the side of them since my last bridge fell out. I need to have work done, does the gum health affect whether I can have work done or not? I have been to 2 dentists for a check up and one said I have fairly healthy gums and teeth but they would need for me to see the gum specialist for up to 2 years and I will need to stop smoking which I have done. I have become increasingly depressed after this news. I look forward to seeing your advice. Thank you.
I Have A Massive Phobia Of Dentists And Have Not Been For Ten Years. What Is The Cheapest And Least Painful Option For A Whole Mouth Of Work?
Thursday, June 5th, 2014Hi Dr Moore. First of all, let me tell you I have a massive phobia of dentists. I have not had any work done to my teeth in over 10 years, and they are chipped, discoloured, rotten and in some parts missing. I don’t think there’s One tooth in my mouth that would not need treatment. I would love to transform my teeth into a smile but I worry about cost & pain/fears. What is the cheapest & least painful option for a whole mouthful of work? Thank you.
How Long Will This Tingling Pain Last After My Gingivectomy?
Tuesday, June 3rd, 2014Hello Dr Moore. I recently had a gingivectomy on my upper left side of mouth for the very last tooth. I had a cracked tooth and my gum had gone sunk into the cavity of tooth. I believe it was from an old filling. How long does the tingling pain last after that? It was last week. Will I go back to get any real feeling in the next 3 weeks? It’s like a very annoying pain but not tearful pain. I have a high pain tolerance. My dentist told me there would be a pain like this, as if I had a paper cut on your finger but they didn’t say how long that would last. Thanks.
A Piece Of My Bridge Recently Snapped Off. Is This A Common Problem And Do You Know What I Should Do?
Monday, June 2nd, 2014Hi Andrew. I recently had a bridge fitted it is a two unit bridge. It looks like porcelain bonded to metal. However I broke a piece of the porcelain when it chipped off the metal, I had this fitted at a cost of 1200 euros. I thought it was complete porcelain and was a little shocked to find the metal and I phoned the dentist. They don’t seem very helpful and they kind of make you feel like it’s your fault. Is this a common problem you come across?
Thank you for your help and advice.
I Had To Stop My Cosmetic Dental Work Halfway Through Due To Unseen Circumstances. Would I Qualify For NHS Crowns?
Thursday, May 29th, 2014Hello Andrew. I started cosmetic dental work around 18 months ago and had my front 6 teeth filed and temporary’s put on. Due to unforeseen financial circumstances I couldn’t afford to go ahead with the treatment and I still have these temporary’s on, almost two years later. I’m embarrassed to see the dentist as it’s been so long and my gum are pretty red also. Would I qualify for NHS crowns as I have an exemption card or would this still be seen as cosmetic? Thanks.
My Dentist Is Too Busy To Replace My Old Crown. Should I Try Another Dentist?
Wednesday, May 28th, 2014My very old crown has fallen out and my dentist intends to restore the tooth and install a new one. He says this has only a 50% chance of working and cannot start work for some time as he is too busy to start now. It is covered with some white protective material at the moment; I am worried that the long wait to start mean deterioration underneath. He has given me three appointments so far but it will take some time to all be completed. The tooth I’m referring to is my upper left premolar. Should I wait that long or should I try another dentist? Thank you for your time.
I Have A Small Crack On The Tooth Adjacent To My Filling. What Treatment Can I Expect When I Go For My Appointment?
Tuesday, May 27th, 2014Hi Dr Moore. I hope you can help me. I have previously had a filling to my right upper second molar some years ago. It now seems that there is a small crack on the medial aspect of that filled tooth adjacent to the filling. At the moment it doesn’t cause me any problems, pain or sensitivity, etc and has been like that for a number of months. I am due to have an appointment with my Dentist, but I am wondering which treatment I am likely to expect? Many thanks. I look forward to your reply.
