I have receeding gums and worn down teeth due to bruxism since childhood. I am now 50 and it is getting worse. Can I have implants when I have to lose teeth or is this not feasible? I have already lost a tooth and possibly losing another back tooth due to grinding. I have read that sufferes of bruxism cannot have implants as their gums and bones are already damaged by this condition. I am also a smoker. I DONT even consider having to result in dentures that would be my worst nightmare. Is there anything that can be done to haice set of teeth for people like me. I live in the UK.

Wednesday, September 14th, 2011How long should a CEREC replacement last?
Wednesday, September 14th, 2011Hi there
Can you please advise with regard to cerec. 2 years ago I had 3 large fillings replaced with cerec (these were old fillings that were failing and in one case the tooth had cracked and broken), since then 2 have failed, one twice, they seem to simply just come loose and fall out. The first happened within a day of having it done, my dentist replaced it free of charge. The second happened about 14 months later, when I went to see my dentist he wanted to charge me to replace it, I had to do some serious negotiation to come to a reasonable figure (however I was still annoyed as I felt it should have simply be fixed at no cost to me). Now the first one that fell out and was replaced has failed again. I would be grateful of your advice with regard to how long cerec should last, why they are failing and falling out and lastly should I have to pay to have them replaced after only 2 years?
Many thanks
I have lost two teeth but can’t afford implants, what can I do?
Thursday, September 8th, 2011Hello Mr moore, back in 2009 when i fell pregnant i had a tooth fall out, so i took a trip to the dentist and was told nothing could be done till after the birth my child, however the dentist was new and alittle rough in handling me, and i was slightly put off, therefore i didnt return for some months, however after yet another tooth fell out i went back, because you see both teeth were baby teeth so there was nothing there to replace them. so i was offered dentures but im only young, i asked for the alternative which i was told are implants but it would cost me £3000 in total for both. But i can’t afford that, i’m a full time student with a small child. is there no way of getting them done for free on nhs or at least cheaper. this is really affecting me now as i have two gaps on either side of my mouth. i wasnt warned that this could happen to me, as id attended the same dental practice for years, they even fitted me with a strange brace when i was 15yrs old, that i was suppose to tighten every week with this little metal key, however the plastic bridge was so thick and sat on my tongue when fitted in my mouth i would gag everytime i tried to talk therefore couldnt wear it. i was told they would fit me with another one and never did. They were meant to close the gaps. I just dont know what to do.. help.
Help me to design the perfect smile, are veneer materials ‘the’ final word?
Tuesday, September 6th, 2011I am seraching for a good cosmetic clinic in London or abroad. I found what it seemed a very nice clinic (well, their website looks great, the prices are quite high 825 per veneer and they seem to help to design a perfect smile taking in consideration facial features and many aesthetic factors)
However after some extra research I ve found that their veneers are just normal porcelain veneers not lumieers.
Therefore I think there are quite expensive considering I can get in other clinic lumieers for a much cheaper price than their veeners.
I thought the more I spend the better the result.Since I m spending a lot of money and but myself in debt with my bank I want to make sure to get the best result
I would very appreciate if you you could suggest me a clinic where they can help me to design the perfect smile im looking for .
I probably need about 22 veneers and i wouldn t like to spend more than 800 per veneeer.
Thank you in advance for any suggestion you could give me.
can you tell me what the long term effects would be of not having my infected tooth removed?
Tuesday, September 6th, 2011I have a continuing infection in a tooth which has had root canal treatment several years ago. There is considerable bone loss now and the tooth gets loose and then tightens up again when the infection has passed. My dentist recommends that I have the tooth removed but I am a bit of a coward. Could you advise me what the long term effects are if I do not have the tooth removed. I have heard that it could cause me to become very ill if I allow it to continue.
How long do dental implants last?
Tuesday, September 6th, 2011I’m 20 and got a dental implant 2weeks ago, as I’m young I’m really anxious on the long term issues. Do crowns on implants become loose or fall out frequently, as far as your as your aware. It just that there a lot things you read on the internet about loose screws and crowns etc. I know you trust everything you read on the internet, it that its a life long decision and I would greatly appreciate the opinion of a expert. And if there was a time period in the life of the implant where instances such ad these where likely to occur
My teeth are overcrowded what is the best treatment option out of braces, dentures or implants?
Wednesday, August 31st, 2011I am 31 years old. I havecrowded teeth. That I have been embarassed of most of my life. They are hard to clean and painful when I eat and they ache sometimes. Are dentures a good option for me? I can’t really afford braces. I was thinking dentures would be a quick, less expensive fix. I’ve been reading about the implants that allow the dentures to snap into place for a better fit and I think that sounds like a good option. Are these a good idea? How long do dentures typically last before a replacement is needed? Please any advice would be appreciated.
Should I have to pay for my new veneers to be glued back on again?
Tuesday, August 30th, 2011Hi,In July, this year i decide to have two new veneers because one of my original kept coming of, i was told the cost would be £600 and because i am sixty that is a lot of money to me but i thought i would have it done to solve the problem it was done on the national health, after 3 weeks one came off, and i had to go and get it fixed which they did`nt charge me because it was only 3 weeks since i had it done, again today the same veneer came of again and i had to go and get it put back on they wanted to charge me £17 pounds but i refused to pay , when you pay all that money you would`nt expect this to keep happening, can you tell me if there is a reason why this is happening, i don`t bite in anything i have done everything they have said, and i am worried now that if i go on holiday this might happen again.
My dentist has suggested root canal treatment and a crown for my twisted tooth, is this correct?
Tuesday, August 30th, 2011i have a good tooth in my front upper jaw (central incisor 1) but its twisted and is overlapping upon its next one (another central incisor. Now thats making my smile look bad. I have seen a dentist and he, after examining x-rays, told theres no space between my teeth and brace are not an option for me. then he suggested me a solution that is he will grind the tooth and root canal and then put on a crown.
is it ok?? is what the doctor saying right? after coming back home i got a question that is why do i need a root canal? Cant i simply grind and wear the crown?
is this the right solution that he suggested.. is there any new technology in the developed world?
Will veneers make my teeth protrude?
Monday, August 22nd, 2011 Hi I am 25 year old female that has been told i have periodontitis. I have received treatment for this in the form of scaling and root planning. I also have receded gums five gum pockets between my front teeth which have made me very depressed. I have seen one cosmetic dentist and he said he can add composite resin to these teeth to make them look more natural and close the gaps, is this good for the gum? What other option do I have veneers? Would this make my teeth even more protruding? I have also had braces for a year to correct an over bite and close some gum gaps where the teeth had been stripped a little to make the gaps smaller but the gum gaps are still there. I also have a permanent brace behind my top teeth to stop it from moving. I have been in a very depressive state as to what can be done about my teeth to keep my gums stable. What can be done aesthetically to help me get my confidence back and smile?
Please can you help me as I feel I dont know what can be done?
