Hi Mark, Could You Advise Me On Any Clinics Which Deal With Single Tooth Repair?

Tuesday, November 5th, 2013
Q.

Dear Mark. I broke a corner of right front tooth when I was a child, it was very unnoticeable. Then when I was 22 I decided to repair it. I went to a private dentist. Who told me that if she put filling on the corner it would come off, so she told me of another way of repairing it. She said it would be a proper repair. Unfortunately, she removed nearly half of the visible part of my tooth, then made a hole in the root canal and put a metal peg in it and then created a new tooth. It was thicker and after few weeks it got darker. I came back and ask her to do anything about it, but she only said it changed colour because its dead now. Later it had been redone by other dentist, the peg had to be removed but it’s never been the same as my left tooth. Since then I do not like to picture myself with a full smile.
I so much want to have it done with Harley Street Dental Clinic, but your receptionist said that you do not deal with single tooth repair unfortunately.
I totally agree that this work should be done with by very experienced and very high quality cosmetic dentist. Would you be so kind as to advise me?
Is there are any chance to have it done with you in Harley Street Dental Clinic?

A Dentist Has Previously Damaged A Tooth And Now It’s Discoloured. Would A Veneer Work?

Monday, November 4th, 2013
Q.

Hello, my right front tooth is visibly darker then left one. It has been badly damaged by dentist 7 years ago (not in the UK) and changed colour. It has been re-done few times, but I never did get the perfect result. Both the shape and colour is different and it is thicker than my left tooth.
Is it possible to make it the same as left front tooth with a porcelain veneer?
I can attach picture of it if needed? Thank you.

Hi Mark, I Would Like To Straighten My Teeth Without Visible Braces. Any Advice Would Be Appreciated?

Friday, November 1st, 2013
Q.

Hi Mark,
I am missing my UR2 tooth (since birth) and have a bridge connected to the UR3. It was also connected to the UR1 but that wing was removed by a dentist in May. Since then my UR1 has moved forwards and to the left and my UL1 has moved inwards and to the left as a result.
I would like to know about an implant/bridge for the UR2 and some way to straighten my teeth especially the front two now they have moved. But I don’t want visible braces, but Invisalign or similar is okay though.
Thank you, any advice would be appreciated.

My Dentist Has Told Me That My Lower Teeth Are Down To The Dentine. I Am Unaware Of What To Do About This Problem. Any Advice?

Thursday, October 31st, 2013
Q.

I had my 2 front teeth crowned about 26 years ago and they are still okay. However at a recent check up my dentist told me that I was down to the dentine on my lower teeth and this was caused by the crowns. I am to be fitted with a night guard – do you think this is simply a stop gap – as my dentist did mention that the expensive option of having them all capped would probably be the best solution. I have some teeth missing already but am unsure of what could be done on the NHS and do you think this cost would be per tooth? I will have to save like mad but I’m not sure what I am looking at for the best results really. Any help would be gratefully received.

I Need A Permanent Solution As I Don’t Like Wearing Partial Dentures. What Can Be Done?

Tuesday, October 29th, 2013
Q.

Hello Dr Hughes, I have periodontitis also known as gum disease, and just had my lower two teeth pulled out yesterday. I’m on partial dentures at the moment and I hate the feel of it, I can’t afford dental implants and my dentist says that I would have to wait six months for the gums to heal and he will give me a Maryland bridge only after six months. My X-ray has shown that the supporting teeth will hold it fine, I’m really depressed and need a permanent solution? Is this the correct treatment option to take? I hope you can hope me sort this out as I’m getting sick of it. Thank you.

If My Damaged Tooth Is Crowned, Will It Fracture The Root And What Are My Other Options?

Monday, October 28th, 2013
Q.

Hi Dr Hughes. My upper left lateral was crowned to the base of the root after an abscess, which led to subsequent root canal treatment and finally the breaking of the weakened tooth. The post has broken with around a quarter of it still left in the root. Currently it is temporarily re-cemented back in.

Could this be re-crowned or is the removal of the remaining bit of the post likely to fracture the root?

Is is possible to have this re-crowned or is the only option, if I do not want a denture or the risk of damage to the adjoining teeth by a bridge, an implant?

Thank you.

The Veneers I Had When I Was Younger Are Chipped, How Much Does It Cost To Renew Them?

Friday, October 25th, 2013
Q.

Hello Dr Hughes, I would like to discuss my problem. I had 18 veneers done when I was 16, I am now 46 years old and although I have looked after my teeth they are receding, chipped a little, and my bite is certainly not the same. Please could you tell me how much this would cost to renew? And also, how long does the process take? Is their finance available as I don’t have enough cash up front as I had my teeth done on NHS as my teeth were black and unsightly? Is your clinic near the North West? Thank you in advance.

I Have Crowns Coming Loose And One Is Being Held In Place With A Peg. What Can Be Done To Fix It?

Thursday, October 24th, 2013
Q.

Hi, I have crowns on either side of my front teeth and the left one is loose and being held in by tooth peg which I think has maybe caused an infection as my gums are sensitive and bleed now and my right has ‘snapped’ off half way so I still have the top part remaining in my gum. Can I have these two teeth removed and put onto a pallet? My loose right crown has come out once before and was immediately loose after being put back in by a dentist hence the tooth peg. Thank you in advance for any help you can offer in advance.

I Had An Infected Tooth After A Filling Came Loose And Now It’s Black. What Are My Long Term Options?

Wednesday, October 23rd, 2013
Q.

Hi, a year ago I had root canal surgery performed on my front tooth. I have had ongoing problems with this tooth since I chipped it when I was 12 years of age. I have had it re-filled 3 times. Before I had the root canal, I was told I had an infection as the filling came lose. It is now black. I’m a 20 year old girl and this is really affecting my confidence. Preferably I wouldn’t like to get a crown but I am looking for a long term solution. What are my options in fixing this tooth?
Thanks, please help.

I Discovered A Black Spot On My Front Tooth. Will Fluoride Treatment Reverse The Decay?

Tuesday, October 22nd, 2013
Q.

Hello Dr Hughes, my problem is that I have recently discovered a black spot on my front tooth (top 1) that’s annoying me. My dentist recommended to just leave it and wait, but now I’m starting to think that it now looks bigger. I have heard of a fluoride treatment, and I wondered whether this could this help to reverse the decay? What would be the best treatment for my front tooth if I had to use a filling? Is a filling the only option? Many thanks for your advice.

Kind regards.
