What is the Cheapest Way to Restore my Whole Mouth?

Tuesday, April 19th, 2016
Q.

I have been offered the All-on-4 treatment for £5500 as I have no teeth in the upper jaw. It is in the UK in Luton. Is this a good price and can this practice do it for the said price? I also only have 4 teeth in the lower jaw.The remaining teeth are not that good but they are strong. Could you please give me your expert advice on the cheapest way to restore my whole mouth? I am even willing to let postgraduate students to do some of the work if it would help both parties to achieve their full potential. Thanks.

Can Dentures be Produced using iTero?

Tuesday, April 19th, 2016
Q.

Can full dentures be produced using the iTero for someone who already has a full set of dentures? All I see on various websites is the Wand being used on patients who have their own natural teeth. I am desperate for new dentures but can’t face having the traditional method of impressions as last time I had them done I almost choked and it has put me off completely. I look forward to your reply. Thank you.

How Much Would it Cost to Fix My Discoloured Tooth?

Monday, February 29th, 2016
Q.

Hiya, I was just wondering how much it would cost as my front tooth is black and I need it fixing. it’s so embarrassing, I don’t go out because I feel everyone is staring at it. I was just wandering how much it would be to be filled and made the same colour as my other teeth? Please reply a price as it’s urgent, I’m losing everyone because I won’t go out because I’m worried of people laughing at my teeth. Please help me fix my teeth with some advice and a price as this is very upsetting for me and needs sorting as soon as possible.

My Tooth is Still Discoloured After Internal Whitening. What Can Be Done?

Friday, November 27th, 2015
Q.

Hi, I had root canal a year or so ago, and my tooth has been discoloured. I have had internal whitening which has lightened the overall colour of the tooth, however I have 3 very distributive black lines on my tooth and my dentist says there is nothing else he can do. But he is thinking from a dental perspective not a cosmetic, as to me my tooth is still discoloured and makes me very self conscious as it’s my front tooth. Does this sound like something that can be sorted?

Thank you.

Is Teeth Whitening That Uses Peroxide Safe?

Monday, October 19th, 2015
Q.

Hello there. I would like to whiten my teeth, which are quite discoloured. I do not smoke so I guess it’s age and tea drinking mainly! (I am 65yrs old). Most dentists use peroxide based systems, but some people say these damage the teeth enamel. Are these chemicals safe to use or will they possibly damage the enamel in the long term? There seem to be some articles that suggest peroxide should not be used. Thank you.

Can A Person with Epilepsy Have Dental Implants?

Wednesday, September 16th, 2015
Q.

Hello. My dad is epileptic and we wanted to know if he can have the screw-in teeth? His teeth are very bad and he has gum disease and some teeth missing. He is very concerned about his teeth and his grandchildren always point it out to him. Is there anything that can be done? It is through no fault of his own as he brushes and flosses his teeth twice a day. It is really getting him down, there must be something that can be done surly?

What Advice Can You Give Me Following a Bad Dental Implants Experience?

Wednesday, September 16th, 2015
Q.

Hi there. I had a maxillary posterior 3 tooth bridge partly taken out in January this year due to the back abutment (2nd molar) decaying despite attending hygienist sessions. The bridge was partly cut off along with the pontic and the other abutment tooth (root filled). My premolar tooth remains as a single crown. After 3 opinions from dentists who offer dental implants I chose the dentist who felt I didn’t need a bone graft and could install a short fat implant (Osteocare Mazi Z Flat end 4.5mm x 8mm) where the pontic had been and an Osteocare Mazi Z flat end 12mm x 5.5mm to replace my 2nd (back tooth) molar. He seemed confident and these were both placed in June this year. No detailed aftercare was provided, no follow up appointment and 3 weeks after the crown and post on the shorter implant fell out. I was appalled as I have paid this dentist over £4000 for his “expertise”. I went back immediately and now he wants to remove the last part of the original bridge and remove the tooth that I paid the same practice £800 for 2 years ago to provide a root filling. I don’t really feel comfortable with the same dentist now and have looked into the whole way this has been handled. The dentist I believe is about 60 years old and I noticed early on his hands trembled which was not reassuring. Plus why didn’t he assess my bone height and quality before going ahead with treatment? I was given no sinus lift or bone graft and now I am worried that the back implant may not last in the long term. He wants to give me an implant bridge (3 tooth on 2 implants) but I would rather have separate teeth. This was why I wanted implants originally and saved my money accordingly. I am due to have my premolar extracted in October but all I really want is to have a refund and go to someone who is going to do a proper assessment of that part of my jaw, which I understand is the most challenging area to place implants, and keep me fully informed of what he or she is going to do and a comprehensive aftercare programme which I believe is key to successful implants. What advice can you give me?

How Can I Improve My Smile, And How Much Will It Cost?

Monday, August 17th, 2015
Q.

I have 5 top teeth, there’s two in the middle,1 to the left and two to the right, and on the bottom I have 8,  four at either side of the middle. All the teeth at the back are broken or missing due to lack of care over the years. I am embarrassed and talk carefully as not to open my mouth, which causes me to mumble as I don’t pronounce my words properly. I only smile with a closed mouth and have never had a real ‘show your teeth smile’. I hate not doing it due to the embarrassment caused. People see me as miserable as I don’t smile. What options do I have and what sort of costs are involved?

Should I Take My Dentist’s Advice About a New Bridge?

Monday, August 17th, 2015
Q.

I had a two teeth bridge on upper left side of my mouth. It came out ten times over two years. The dentist originally accepted responsibility but now has changed his mind. He now partly puts the blame on me because I kept the temporary bridge in too long but at no time did he ever express any concern. Now wants to place a four tooth bridge which I’d have to pay for. He is now saying he wanted this all along but I rejected it which is absolute nonsense. He never ever mentioned it to me as an alternative. Had he done so he would have been duty bound to advise that a one tooth implant would, according to his price list, be only £600 more and well worth the extra expense. I feel I have been done. He is making claims now that he never made before and his story changes every time I speak to him. What do you think? I do not have confidence that the new treatment is the right course or that it will work. What happens if that comes out? Will he try to blame me again?
