Hello Dr Moore. I recently got a new crown (second last back tooth lower on the right) it cost me quite a bit and it is super sensitive to hot/cold. I’m 56 years old and I have been prepared for another crown. I do grind my teeth and I have had sensitivity problems for quite a while with various teeth and some near the new crowns. I’ve been to a dental hospital but they dropped me as they said I would find cheaper treatment elsewhere. Do you know what I could do to find this cheaper treatment? Thank you for taking the time to listen to my problem.

I Grind My Teeth And Have Had Some Sensitivity. Do You Know What Treatment I Could Have To Fix This?
Thursday, July 3rd, 2014My New Dentist Said I Needed New Veneers On Four Front Teeth. I’m Currently Exempt From Charges. Will This Be Done For Free?
Thursday, July 3rd, 2014 Hello Dr Moore. I saw my new dentist today who said I needed veneers on my four front teeth. I’m currently exempt from charges. Will this treatment be done for free?
I didn’t ask her as she seemed to be saying it while knowing I was exempt.
She was very helpful and I’m sure she would have mentioned if I had to pay. I’m so glad I have found this surgery as my last dentist really did not seem to care and did very bad work on my teeth. Thank you for your reply.
I Brush, Floss And Use Mouthwash Regularly But My Remaining Teeth Are Coming Loose. What Can I Do?
Wednesday, July 2nd, 2014Hi Dr Moore. I worry a lot over my teeth. I brush, floss and use mouthwash regularly. I have a denture on the top and I’ve a partial denture on the bottom set but some of the teeth that are left, I seem to be losing. I also have black gums at the top of bridge on the gums. I’m looking into giving up smoking but have started to cut down. What can I do? I’m scared the teeth I have will fall out. My bottom denture is fine on its my own but the two teeth in the middle that are becoming loose. Do you have any advice for me? Thank you.
My Dentist Has Said A Plastic Crown Can Last Between 5 And 10 Years. Does This Sound Reasonable?
Wednesday, July 2nd, 2014My question is about using a plastic crown as a permanent solution for a cracked tooth. I have an upper left tooth (#26) that has had a root canal and recently cracked from the surface down into the root. The dentist has said that because the root is cracked they can’t put a post in, and because of that they can’t use a porcelain crown. So far he has cemented the crack, prepared the tooth, and taken imprints to make a plastic crown. He said the plastic crown should last about 5 to 10 years. Everything I’ve read only mentions plastic crowns for very short term use. Does this sound like a reasonable treatment?
I Think Something Is Moving In My Upper Jaw. Do You Think It Could Have Something To Do With My Dental Implant?
Tuesday, July 1st, 2014Hi, I am 48 years old, I have an implant bolted to my upper jaw. I also have bi-lateral cleft palate and lip. I think something is moving in my upper jaw area. This implant was put in when I was a child. I am having a lot of trouble with this, is there any help available for some one like me with out insurance. I feel that if this implant is removed my upper jaw is going to move, I still have opening in the roof of my mouth. I think that it is holding my jaw together. I suffer headaches, ear aches, and the teeth around this are all broken. What do you think I should do? Thank you.
How Can I Achieve A Hollywood Smile Without Breaking The Bank?
Tuesday, July 1st, 2014Hello there Dr Moore. My sister had duraphat toothpaste from her dentist recently and she said it’s really made her teeth whiter. I have crowns and caps on the front of my teeth and I was wondering if I could use duraphat on my capped teeth. I love my teeth but I can’t afford to have new veneers like the Hollywood smile. I do look after my teeth and gums thank you. I would be very grateful if you could advise me on how to achieve the Hollywood smile without too much expense.
I Have A Clean Chip In One Front Tooth Which Has Left A Huge Gap. Which Treatment Would I Need To Build It Back Up?
Monday, June 30th, 2014Hi there Dr Moore, I have one tooth which is just right of the front in the top set which has a clean chip in it, meaning that its completely flat and is now only coming out all but millimetres, so you can see there is a tooth there but at the same time it leaves a huge gap
would this be able to be built up on or would an implant be the only option? I need something done. I’m just unaware of the different types of treatment available and I’d appreciate your advice. Thank you for your time. It would be great to hear back from you.
Is There Any Way I Can Close The Gaps In My Teeth Naturally?
Friday, June 27th, 2014Dear Dr Moore. I have a small gap between my front teeth. I consulted a dentist recently but they told me that if I wear braces then one of my front teeth will come under the other. But this gap is really annoying. Is there any way to close the gaps naturally without having to fill gaps and all? I feel very disappointed with these gaps. I don’t like to use artificial methods to fill gaps. Do you know how much treatment would cost? Thank you for your time.
My Dentist Made Slits In My Retainer So It Was Easier To Get On. Is This Right, Will It Still Work?
Thursday, June 26th, 2014Hi,
I have just had retainers fitted by a local orthodontist. A few of my teeth have moved over the past few years and the dentist suggested having a mould created and then adjusted the mould so that the mould/teeth were then forced to be perfectly aligned and hopefully this would push the few non-aligned teeth into a straight position. However, when the dentist fitted the retainer, he created slits in the top and bottom so that they were easier to get on. I am slightly concerned, that a) if there is a gap in the retainer, how is it going to move my teeth? and b) I have just paid £400 for technically, a broken retainer.
Please can you advise whether this is normal procedure, (to cut retainers so that they are easier to fit on) and if so, will it actually move my teeth?
