Hi Mark, I Would Like To Straighten My Teeth Without Visible Braces. Any Advice Would Be Appreciated?

Friday, November 1st, 2013
Q.

Hi Mark,
I am missing my UR2 tooth (since birth) and have a bridge connected to the UR3. It was also connected to the UR1 but that wing was removed by a dentist in May. Since then my UR1 has moved forwards and to the left and my UL1 has moved inwards and to the left as a result.
I would like to know about an implant/bridge for the UR2 and some way to straighten my teeth especially the front two now they have moved. But I don’t want visible braces, but Invisalign or similar is okay though.
Thank you, any advice would be appreciated.

How Long Does A Bridge Last On Average And Will They Fit Another When It’s Finished?

Wednesday, October 30th, 2013
Q.

Hello Dr Shaffie. I heard someone say recently that a bridge should last between 10 to 15 years, right? After then what happens to it? Does it break or fall out? Is there a chance it can cause other health issues? I’m currently awaiting treatment for this and I’d like to know if it’s safe, also will they be able to fit me with a new one when it’s finished? I’m wondering how long the whole procedure takes as well. You would really be helping me by answering any of these questions and offering your expert advice. Thank you.

My Dentist Trimmed My Teeth Too Far Down And Now They Are Sensitive, Now I May Need A Root Canal. What Should I Do?

Tuesday, October 22nd, 2013
Q.

Dear Doctor,
9 Months ago I got dental bridges on both sides (lower) from Pakistan. The dentist had trimmed the teeth too much and I still feel sensitivity issues with cold, hot and even pressure. Though it gets better with time but not finished. I consulted another dentist and he advised me to leave it as they will be okay with time. The dentist who fixed them, now advising me for root canal but I don’t want to because my supporting teeth are healthy and I don’t want them to be dead.
Now I am in the UK,  please advise me, what do I have to do to overcome this problem? Can I wait more or go for the replacement of bridges.

Thank you and kind regards.

I Have A New Porcelain Bridge Which Feels Too High, What Should I Do?

Monday, October 21st, 2013
Q.

I have just had a new porcelain bridge fitted (4/5 upper left) and although the dentist insisted the fit was good I knew it felt too high, after much drilling I said it was okay but would let it settle for a few days. I feel it is still too high and plan to return to my dentist ASAP however I would like to know
a.) Will the constant drill undermine the new bridge? b.) Should a cantilever bridge fit under the gum line like a crown? My brand new bridge looks like it has a small space between bridge and gum line toward the inner side of tooth but again the dentist said through looking at X-ray it was an excellent fit. Please advise me.

Kind regards.

My Dentures Make Me Gag, Should I Get Implants, Or Bridges? Also Is There Any Other Treatment I Can Consider?

Wednesday, October 16th, 2013
Q.

I currently wear a denture which constantly makes me gag and feel sick. I have two large teeth missing at the front of my mouth and a small one to the right hand side of my mouth. I was thinking of dental implants but know this would be extremely expensive and was wondering if a bridge including all teeth would be possible? I have a tooth in the middle and to the right and left of the spaces and was wondering also if these have to be porcelain as I already have a stained porcelain crown and don’t want another.
I would be grateful for your advice.
Many thanks.

I Am About To Lose A Tooth Transplant I Had Fitted Twenty Seven Years Ago, I Have Gaps In My Teeth Also, What Kind Of Costs Am I Looking At?

Thursday, October 10th, 2013
Q.

Hell Dr Patel, I hope you can help me out. How much would you say it costs to get a bridge? I have previously had root canal treatment for a crown but I am missing the tooth next door to it. I also have a loose tooth on the other side. I am embarrassed to smile because I have a gap in the front of my teeth and now I have gaps in the side of my mouth starting to appear and this is distressing me. I have been told that I have bone shrinkage on the right hand side and that’s why I am about to lose my tooth which was a tooth transplant which I had twenty seven years ago. Thank you in advance for any advice you can offer me.

I’ve Recently Had A Bridge Cemented, But After A Couple Of Days Now, I Don’t Feel I Can Get Used To It. Is It Too Late?

Thursday, October 3rd, 2013
Q.

Hello Dr Moore, I’ve recently had a bridge made for the front four of my top teeth. I had it permanently cemented in place two days ago and after having a couple of days to look at it and get used to it, I’m really not happy with it. The shape is really not what I wanted and it looks crooked in my mouth. The bridge also feels bulky in my mouth and I feel that my bite is now not correct.
Can I now have it removed and altered, or is it too late?
I’m afraid to call and tell my dentist and that he says nothing can be done now. Please help me with this problem!!! Many thanks.

I Don’t Want My Son To Have Work On His Healthy Teeth. Are There Any Less Extreme Options?

Thursday, September 26th, 2013
Q.

My son has Hypodontia. He is 16 years old and has completed his orthodontic work. He’s too young for implants and doesn’t want a denture. His clinic has recommended bridges but my dentist says it involves some work on healthy teeth which worries me. My dentist says he will keep work to the healthy teeth to a minimum. He’s entitled to NHS treatment but I understand that private materials, etc, are superior. Any advice would be most welcome!

My Father’s New False Teeth Are Wobbly, What Sort Of Price Am I Looking at To Get Them Fixed?

Friday, September 13th, 2013
Q.

Hi Dr Mark Hughes,

My dad had his front four teeth taken out and fitted with false permanent teeth. However, all four teeth are wobbly now and I think they may soon to fall out. He finds it hard to bite on certain foods in the fear it will all fall out sooner. I think they need to be replaced as a good job was not done on them in the first place. What sort of price am I looking at to have them re-done and can they be re-done?

Thanks.

I Would Really Like To Do Something About The Space Between My Front Teeth, But Implants Are Too Expensive, What Else Can I Do?

Tuesday, September 10th, 2013
Q.

Hi, I would really like to know whether you can have a bridge fitted if there is just one tooth at one side and two teeth at the other side. I believe I need a bridge for four teeth? I have a partial denture at the moment, the space is between my front teeth and I would really like to do something about it, but implants are a bit too expensive for me. I have had the dentures for the past thirty years and not sure if anything can be done for me now, perhaps you can advise me on this whether it would be possible to do or not?
