Are Bridges a Suitable Alternative to Dental Implants?

Monday, July 20th, 2015
Q.

Good afternoon. I would like to improve the appearance of my teeth. I have a missing tooth at the back of my mouth on the right hand side and a crown next to it. The crown broke a year ago but the dentist was able to mend it back together.

I would like to replace the crown and replace the missing tooth with two bridges.

I’m not able to afford implants so wondered if bridges were a suitable alternative to implants?

Thank you.

How Can I Go About Getting a Free Consultation?

Wednesday, June 10th, 2015
Q.

Hello, I have just watched your interview on Northwest Tonight. You mentioned that your clinic does interest free credit over 36 months. Please could you tell me a little more about this and how I would go about booking an initial consultation with yourself? I have had a lot of dental work in the past, bridges etc. For a while now my 2 front teeth have been moving further apart and it certainly doesn’t feel safe to eat certain kinds of foods.
Thank you.

Should I Get My Crown Replaced Before it Breaks?

Wednesday, June 3rd, 2015
Q.

My bridge on the upper right side is 20 years old. My dentist says it could break at any time. One of the teeth it is attached to has had root canal treatment and my dentist has filled it for now. Should I go ahead and replace it before it breaks? I am 72 years old and have several jaw teeth missing and several fillings in the remaining teeth. I have 3 teeth on the bridge and 4 single crowns. My two upper front teeth have large fillings and will eventually need crowns. I am a diabetic and have had lung cancer with a lobectomy last year to remove a tumor. Thank you.

Why Are My Teeth Painful After Having a Bridge Fitted?

Friday, May 1st, 2015
Q.

I have had a 4 tooth bridge fixed over 2 teeth at the back of my lower jaw. I have 1 tooth at the back, then a gap, another tooth and another gap then my front lower teeth. Since I have had this procedure I am unable to drink hot or cold liquids and chewing is almost impossible because of the pain in the 2 teeth. Could you please explain this? I have been told now that I need root canal work done. These teeth were no problem before, so why are they now?

Is a Bridge Covered in Band 3 NHS Prices?

Thursday, April 30th, 2015
Q.

Hi, I have two teeth that need extracting and had asked my NHS dentist about having a fixed brace. I felt as though she was trying to sell me implants at a cost of £2000 each. She also advised that a bridge would cost about £1500. She did mention partial dentures, although I don’t feel this would be the right treatment for me. I had thought a bridge was covered in band 3 NHS prices? Can you advise please?

Can I Have Implants Fitted Privately and Then a Bridge and Crowns on the NHS?

Wednesday, April 29th, 2015
Q.

Dear doctor. I have no teeth in the upper jaw and only 5 teeth in the lower jaw. I am unemployed and have been told that I can get a bridge and crowns on the NHS. Would I be able to have implants fitted privately and allow the NHS to fit the bridge and crowns? My parents are willing to help me with the cost of just the implants. Please help me as I have trouble wearing dentures. And I also have quite a few medical conditions. Thank you.

How Do I Look After a Bridge?

Wednesday, April 15th, 2015
Q.

I have two gaps on the left side of my mouth and one gap on the right side. I’m thinking about having a bridge. Which is the best one and what is the cost? Does it hurt to have it done and how long would it take to be done? After having it done how do I look after them? Is there anything I need to do before I have this fitted, and do you have to drill any part of my gums? Do I need to do anything at night to my mouth when I’m going to bed, and can I clean them like normal teeth with normal toothpaste?

How Can I Stop the Pain in my Tooth?

Tuesday, April 14th, 2015
Q.

Good evening. I have had a lot of trouble with two of my teeth. I kept getting bad infections. My dentist took the tooth out and gave me a bridge. Once again, two days after I had pus leaking from the tooth with the bridge. After a course of antibiotics my dentist removed the bridge and took out the root which was very smelly and infected and gushed with blood. He had to put a stitch in to stop the bleeding and then put the new plate over the top. I’m in so much pain. He told me to take it out this morning and clean and put it back in. Please can you help me? My next appointment is not until a fortnight’s time. Regards.

How Quickly Can Implants or Bridges be Placed?

Friday, April 10th, 2015
Q.

I had a bone marrow transplant 4 years ago. Then a year later I had a stem cell transplant. Since having this, my teeth have become very weak. I’ve lost 2 teeth from the upper side and back of my jaw, and 2 teeth from my lower side of my jaw. Last night anther tooth cracked in half. It’s very distressing to think I may loose further teeth. I am looking for either implants or a bridge fitted What would the cost be and how quick can the treatment be done? And can the implants be fitted all at once? How dose the bridge work?

Can I Have a Crown Replaced so I Can Have a Bridge Fitted?

Tuesday, March 31st, 2015
Q.

The post on my front tooth has broken off leaving a stump and the root in place
The other front tooth had a crown fitted to match the now missing crown. I now have an NHS denture that feels like a blob in my mouth – one side of the plate leaves a gap between the denture and my teeth so when I eat food goes down between my teeth and under the plate, leaving some food trapped.  Is it possible to replace the crown I have on the remaining front tooth to enable a bridge to be fitted? Thank you.
