Can I Get a Broken Bridge Fixed?

Tuesday, September 6th, 2016
Q.

Hi Andrew, I wanted to ask you if I am able to fix an upper bridge that is broken. The dentist that made it for me 10 years ago has closed now and he has gone back to Africa where he was from. My bridge is 6 teeth in total and I have had screws on both sides. Now the bridge is broken in the middle on upper two front teeth (the one that was missing) and I have been using it with Fixodent now for the past two months. I still have the roots of 4 teeth, two in both sides where my previous dentist took the nerves out and screwed through to put the new bridge in. Words can not explain it how difficult is to live day to day. I do not have much money to fix it and the dentist that I am registered with at the moment is useless and he does not want to fix it. Can you please help? Looking forward to hearing from you.

How Much Would It Cost to Replace Teeth with a Bridge?

Friday, May 27th, 2016
Q.

How much would it cost to replace the four lower incisors with a bridge off the two lower canines?
I have an upper palate that the lower middle incisors hit when I bite. I have lost one of the incisors already and another is working loose. I have been informed that the bone is not strong enough for implants. Apparently the bone has receded and the wider incisors are not strong enough to support the bridge.

Can I Have My Own Bridge Put Back In?

Friday, May 20th, 2016
Q.

I have had a Maryland bridge since 1991/92. It has been fine until the last month or so. It started to become painful and uncomfortable for some reason and I could feel the metal at the bottom of the tooth it was attached to. I have always tried to keep the area flossed over the years and recently used the little brushes from the chemists, but there has been an area at the top/back which I have not been able access. Question 1) has the cement started to crumble?
Question 2) I would like to know, is it possible put my same bridge back? As its a perfect match.

What Can Be Done About the Gap of a Missing Tooth Whilst Waiting for an Implant?

Tuesday, May 17th, 2016
Q.

I need to have left front tooth and one to the left removed due to bone loss (I am under Eastman’s and fanatical about hygiene). However, being a wimp I am struggling with the thought of having the gap – apart from temporary plate, can you suggest ways of coping in the interim of a possible implant, i.e. how do you look in the mirror? I know they need to come out and I am all for it but I can’t get over the distress over what a two teeth gap will look like – I am not vain, but distressed and do not want to talk funny.

Would a Bridge Solve My Dental Problems?

Thursday, September 24th, 2015
Q.

I have six upper front crowns due to tetracycline staining. They are four years old. One of them has completely broken including the tooth. The others will probably follow suit so I wanted to have all six teeth removed and have a bridge fitted so I no longer have to worry about the next expensive disaster. Embarrassment too. Please tell me this is reasonable. I am 51 and allergic to several dental bonding agents too.

Should I Take My Dentist’s Advice About a New Bridge?

Monday, August 17th, 2015
Q.

I had a two teeth bridge on upper left side of my mouth. It came out ten times over two years. The dentist originally accepted responsibility but now has changed his mind. He now partly puts the blame on me because I kept the temporary bridge in too long but at no time did he ever express any concern. Now wants to place a four tooth bridge which I’d have to pay for. He is now saying he wanted this all along but I rejected it which is absolute nonsense. He never ever mentioned it to me as an alternative. Had he done so he would have been duty bound to advise that a one tooth implant would, according to his price list, be only £600 more and well worth the extra expense. I feel I have been done. He is making claims now that he never made before and his story changes every time I speak to him. What do you think? I do not have confidence that the new treatment is the right course or that it will work. What happens if that comes out? Will he try to blame me again?

Q.

Hi my four front teeth were pushed sideways and back in a fall 3 weeks ago and the 2 front teeth are broken. The dentist at hospital pushed them back as best he could and braced them but they are very painful and not in the right place.I am really concerned about them and would like them removed and a partial or bridge fitted. I am 57 years old and this has affected me more than I thought. I am registered with a local private practice.

Could Flossing Be Irritating My Gums Under My Bridge?

Thursday, August 13th, 2015
Q.

I have a bridge and it feels loose up on my gums. The bridge itself is not loose but I feel the sensation that it is. I saw my dentist yesterday and he did an x-ray which confirmed it is not loose but my gums are irritated. He advised rinsing with salt and warm water and also a non-alcohol mouth wash. I have a follow up appointment in 3 weeks. I first noticed this feeling after my normal check up after the hygienist flossed my bridge. I use a waterpik flosser and thought that maybe the flossing with dental floss vs. my normal waterpik irritated my gums. Do you have any suggestions as to why I may be feeling this moving sensation in my gums?

Thank you!

How Long Do Dental Implants Take to Fit?

Thursday, July 23rd, 2015
Q.

Hi. I have a bridge/crown on the my front three teeth which I have had for at least 20 years. It is now feeling very weak and is going to fail at any time. I was wondering if dental implants would be an option, and if so how long would they take to fit (do you need weeks for the implants to settle?) and I’m conscious that I would be left with a gap. Do you have any idea of the rough costs? I know it’s a little vague but just thought that I would ask the question before booking an an initial assessment. Many thanks.

What’s Wrong With My Bridge?

Wednesday, July 22nd, 2015
Q.

Hi. I have a 3 piece bridge on the upper right side. The gum smells awful and my other half complains of the smell. My regular dentist said it looks fine. A water/air floss helps for 1-2 hours. There has been lots of bleeding but it has stopped since using Corsodyl in water floss. Also, I get sort of a suction effect where my cheek can be pulled into the bridge area with a sucking motion. I’m not sure exactly which part. Do you have any thoughts or treatment suggestions? Was a bridge a bad idea? That’s what I’m thinking now. Kind regards.
